At this point though, Jack does know Desmond from somewhere... he met him on the track when he was fixing his wife. And the funny thing, like suraj said at the end, everybody forgets about it, but we’ve sort of known the smoke monster takes human form since season 3. And pretty much any dead person you’ve seen walking around... could have been the smoke monster
Now that you know about the smoke monster, it was a really long con! All the way back to Locke time traveling, to Alex making sure Ben would follow Un-Locke.

If Christian who talks to him in the cave is ghost Christian then ghosts don't care about time. But if that is smoke monster Christian in the cave in the past. That would be the first time talking to John and realizing he found someone to set up.
Piotrek Piotrek yea from when Hurley used the numbers, or maybe the guy that used the numbers that lived in Australia. It was him that burned Hugo’s house, killed Tricia Tanaka... there was black smoke in all those situations. He was probably the horse Kate saw...
I think since Rose didn't have any regrets in her life and she lived and died with the love of her life ( Brenard). She realised it was the flash sideways from the beginning and that's why she said Jack to let go. Or maybe she realised it when the turbulence hit for a few seconds.
Ben has always been the one driving the car and now he's just along for the ride. No control, power gone and everything he thought he knew, he now realizes is wrong.

I think I remember from the audio commentary that they spent a lot of time writing the scene where they discover the blown up hatch, trying to convey to the audience that they had been time flashed back to present day. (KATE: That's the Swan hatch...after Desmond blew it up. MILES: Guess we're not in 1977, huh?)
the bullets didn't deflect off Locke they went THROUGH him because he's smoke they bullets hit the wall and flattened instead of being stuck in Locke's body the way you would expect

I've left this comment on other reactions to this episode but...if I remember correctly when this episode aired, later that night Jimmy Kimmel did a special Lost-themed episode and had Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof as guests talking about the episode and they said, "Well, we found out that Locke is the smoke monster." Unfortunately, they film the show in the afternoon so the audience had not seen the episode yet and there was a loud groan because everyone in the audience had been spoiled. LOL.
I mean, I thought it was super-obvious that was the case after the Season 5 fine. Hell, I thought this was made obvious by "Locke disappears -> Ben is judged by the Smoke Monster -> Locke reappears all "what did I miss?"" like he was Clark Kent. These might be the first Lost reactors I've seen for whom the Locke/Smoke Monster connection came as a surprise in 6x1.
Suraj should have pointed out the episode where Ben went to confront the Smoke Monster, and now we know that Flocke was manipulating the whole thing to ensure that Ben will do what he says.
Rana said "The Man In Black", which is how the fans called the character. Of course she could very well just called him that by coincidence, but maybe she read something about the character in the wiki?
So Locke lied about going on the walkabout to Boone. Charlie was arrested and couldn't find redemption. Kate is going to jail. Juliet died. Sad ass episode.
Jacob is flesh and blood, Flocke (fake Locke) is the smoke monster. For whatever reason, Flock cannot hurt Jacob, that is why he gets Ben to kill him. However, anyone that tries to harm Flocke, cannot because he is the smoke monster regardless of what "form" he appears as. I hope that helps Rana.
Alright final season, let's go!!! I get that that final season is a little bit "controversial" now and it definitely isn't perfect, but I think it might still be one of my favourites just because of how much I love the characters. Definitely gonna be an emotional final ride, I can't wait!
Poor Rana is going to have an aneurysm trying to make sense of everything. I feel like it's going to hurt her appreciation of the show, it's really best to just go along for the ride with the characters rather than try to understand the rules of time travel and different time lines.

It’s always seemed to me that the people that haven’t enjoyed the ending are the ones who needed concrete answers to every question & the people that kind of went with the flow (or ‘let go’) tended to like season 6 & the finale a lot more. Of course, this is just from my interactions, your interactions may be completely different. I do think that this show isn’t about the mysteries on the island, it’s about the journey of the characters. The island is basically just the vehicle they’re riding in to get from point A to B.
It's better than many "final seasons". Every episode were good.. Some were actually really great (the Richard one or the Desmond one). I also the ending. The feels, man. It's just perfect.

@Sepharite (spoiler ahead), to me the flash-sideways are absolutely awesome _while you don’t know what they are_ - but after that, meaning the last 10 minutes of the show, they are retrospectively ruined: not only this arbitrary afterlife idea is awful in and of itself (having nothing to do with Lost at all), but it’s maximally nonsensical in its own terms: people still _die_ in this afterlife; babies are _born_ in this afterlife; the afterlife is ridiculously centered not only in the events of the island, which is arbitrary, but specifically on the events of the island which _we the audience_ find important - so it’s a whole meta-thing break-the-4th-wall shitshow... and I could go on. And the actual plot on the island, with crazy “rules” and stopper cave that happens to just “create” black smoke men, no, I’m still incredulous to this day with how bad all that is.

Saying that Jacob was never in the cabin is wrong. Ilana and Bram went to the cabin specifically because they knew Jacob had been in the cabin before. The ash circle around the cabin was in place to keep the MIB away from Jacob. However, at some point Jacob left the cabin and the MIB took it over. This likely happened in the Season 4 premiere when Hurley sees two different figures inside the cabin at the same time. The ash line wasn't broken in Season 3 when Locke and Ben went to the cabin, but Jacob moved the cabin out of the ash circle so that he could speak with the MIB (in the guise of Christian) about something, after which point Jacob gave the cabin to the MIB.
@@pewburrito Possible. I think it's more likely that Jacob made a deal with the MIB, giving him possession of the cabin if the MIB would help protect the island from Widmore's men. There's no reason for the MIB to stop people who want to kill everyone on the island unless he just thinks that the gas and/or mercenaries won't kill Jacob and he wants to protect his investment in Locke/Ben. But he also only killed one of Keamy's men, so he was definitely holding back.
They released 2 trailers with all new footage a day before the premiere of the final season. It premiered on February 2nd and they made a deal to not show any new footage until the end of January but they could on February 1st.
Quantum physics says things are either a partical or wave once observed. Jacob is the partical and the smoke monster is the wave. Quantum physics has also proven that the same partical can be at two places at the same time, hence why there are two time lines at the same time. On the island and at LAX

Jack kills it with the acting this season. Makes it so heartwarming and beautiful.

Christian could be the smoke monster when we see him. Or it could really be Christian like when we saw him on the boat with Michael. The smoke monster can't leave the island so that had to be ghost Christian.
