The working on the edge of the stone advice is brilliant. Not something I even thought of, and have struggled while practicing my skiving. Thank you for that. A little tip I didn't expect to receive while watching.
This was absolutely brilliant. Thank you again for another excellent video mate!

You are no just a good craftsman, but a great teacher. Your New Zealand accent helps a lot!

Excellent video. When I started sharpening my knives, I initially used a plastic rafter square to identify 45 degrees. It was a lot lower than my guesstimate. Of course, a drafting square at 30 degrees will get you even closer. Beautiful knives, Terek.

I dropped a skiving knife on a concrete floor. This cause me to buy some rubber mats for the floor. Thank heaven it was not my CharterMade skiving knife. But it is a knife I like. My damage is worse than what you showed. Thank you for this video.

Fantastic. Learned so much. Can you show how to sharpen edge bevellers. That is something I cannot do, and my blunt bevellers are making me so frustrated. Cheers.

Thank you very much! Exactly what I was looking for. The anxiety was huge for me even though it wasn’t deliberate! At least you know what you’re doing and can always make a new one if you have to! Lol. Mine was a pricey gift and I didn’t know what to do when it happened. You are awesome to put this together to help us. Thank you again! 😊🙏🏻

Thanks for your message and remember your blade is definitely fixable even if you have to try a few times. Find the fun in the process and this will make it easier also.

Terrick, great video. Well made. Had a beginner in my shop a few weeks back with a skiving knife of yours. A very well made knife! I tend to stay loyal to Blanchard, but your knife has me considering otherwise. Cheers!

Bloody hell, watching that first hit onto the stone, it hurt me a bit. I could see how anxious you were doing that intentionally.

    • @CHARTERMADE

Yeah, that took me about 5min to get that done. It was quite a laugh for Charlene watching me not able to do it for several minutes though.

really would like to get into leather work, also from SA so great representation, do you have a video for starting out for leather work, the kit to get, projects to start with and where one can source the leather

Thanks for the great video. I have a skiving knife from AliExpress the cheapest ones which I damaged about 2 am. I tried to sharpen it with 1000 sandpaper with some water on it. It cuts the leather but not like the razor I mean not like the rest of the blade does. What do you advise to make it like razor?

Why everyone is sharpening leather knifes by pushing and pulling? It is not better to make it by pulling only?
