I had to do a flight yesterday in a CJ2+ (a real one). Flew plenty Citations but nothing with a Proline. Watched your video and it got me through it no problem. Took me a minute though to figure out how to enter the airways with the via/to columns. Thanks!

I'm an "Other Brand" CitX expert. they did a pretty thorough job of Modeling their FMS and external Aircraft Features. took me a long time to "Trial by Error" master all the nuances of the FMS/EFIS. hoping "polyplanner" ( eaglesoft) will finally follow thru, and get this version out for us FSX users. get the feeling this one may surpass "X" brand's. nice job dude.
Thanks so much for the excellent tutorial. I tried to apply it to the XPlane 12 citation X FMS, but some of the steps are missing. For example, the initial position screen is missing. i’m hoping that updates might include additional functionality to the flight management system. It is an extremely fun plane to fly and being able to program a flight plan would be sweet! Thanks again for the excellent tutorial.😊
The Perf Plan page shows predicted fuel remaining at each WPT along with predicted time between WPT's. Values are based on the CRZ WINDS and ISA DEV input on Perf Init page 4/5 LSKs 3L and 2R. ISA DEV is temp deviation from standard.
The W/T pages display predicted altitude, wind, and temperature at the associated waypoint. Manual entries could also be made on the W/T pages for each individual waypoint.
You do not need to make any entries other than - Perf Init page 4/5 LSKs 3L and 2R.

As of 4/10/09, the current version of Citation X 2.0 is hotfix (1.6). This version does not use the navigraph database and therefore won't show an updated cycle date on the Nav Ident page. When the Navigraph update is released, the navigraph database will be utilized and the date will be current.

Got it! too cool on that one. basically here, i never HAD a value in hand, that i would enter on Perf. Init pg. 4/5, so.......skipped that, and then was starting down W/T ( R LSK's) for "Every Wpt. entered. then you click any one of those R keys, and the page advances to the next one, revealing empty "entry" fields, for Wind and Temp, and also a key on L LSK #3 i think, "Request" I'll play around with this now, and look for some results. Thanks CX.

Bottom of Step Climb (BOSC) As the aircraft burns fuel and therefore gets lighter, the optimum fuel burn altitude will increase. To take advantage of this, the aircraft must climb higher. The step climb feature of the FMS calculates when the aircraft is light enough to climb to the next altitude based on the step increment selected on Perf Init page 3/5 LSK 1L.

BOSC continued...The estimated time en-route and arrival (ETE/ETA) at BOSC are displayed at PERF/CRUISE (LSK 2R)
The distance to BOSC and the fuel remaining at BOSC are displayed on PERF/CRUISE (LSKs 3L 3R).
The distance and time to BOSC are also displayed on PROG/page2 LSK 2L if a step climb is available.
Hi everyone. Do you have to Perf/Init before each take off? Eg in AW139 if you hover taxi & then touch down to wait at the hold, do you have to re-Perf/Init before you lift off again? Thx

CX, somewhere along the way, after some self-discovery thru trial by fire, of some of the more "esoteric" use of the FMS, it became clear to me that one can input and create, "User Waypoints" ie; P/B/D or P/B/P/B, as well as simply entering a Lat./Long in place of the standard 5-letter identifier. in the real airplane, i would ask> how much of the time, under average real world conditions, whatever they may be, would the pilot be using the aforementioned method of entry, if at all? cheers!

You can go to the Navigraph website to get the current AIRAC cycle. Look for FMS data.
how do you program airways on the fms?
What if you're told to cross 35 miles south of a waypoint at 12000'? How do you program that?
A plane would only have an FMS or G1000, but generally not both. The G1000 does not have all of the cababilities of an FMS, although many of the functionality is the same. Hope that helps.

Question: if you had a garmin 1000, would you still have to use the fms? I've never used a fms and out of curiosity watched this tutorial but it seems like all the same work you do with the G1000 when you begin storing your flight plan, etc.. So why would a plane have both? any response greatly appreciated, I'm truly curious about the answer.
Eaglesoft didnt model manual input coordinates which is frustrating due to Taxi2gate MCO incorrect pos init.
f/ below) hey CX... just wondered about a couple things in the Honeywell FMS. what does the Pilot glean from the PERF> L LSK 3 , called PERF. PLAN. it will show the waypoints from the flight plan on the left, and W/T on R LSK's. does the pilot need to enter the Wind/Temp for EVERY waypoint here, or.....??? is this all just to give Predicted FUEL consumption Values?? what is this? Lol
and #2: what is BOSC ( bottom of step climb) for? i get this in Perf. INIT. page #3 Step Increment
BOSC continued...Step climbs are useful on long flights where optimum range is needed. On short flights, a step climb may not be available nor would there be much benefit.
If NVAV is engaged and the altitude pre-selector is set to a higher altitude at the BOSC, the aircraft will automatically begin a climb. Neat, huh?

Hey CXAviator- another thing occured to me.
I'm downloading Navigraph FMS Cycle updates for my CitX, when they come out. latest one is 0903 i believe. opened the "unzip" folder a while ago. the Install software, prompts you to put them in the Folder that is "Default" or Pre-Designated in the Download Field,usually C:/ProgramFiles/MS Games/MS FSX yet, I rarely see the "latest Cycle DATE" in upper-right of CDU window, on INITialization page. any ideas what might be happening here? thanx
Do you have any idea what might be wrong? I'm using X-Plane mobile on an iPad. When I get to the 4/5 init perf page, it doesn't say "optimum" in the initial altitude, and whatever I enter, the number doesn't go into that area (instead it goes to the right under "at altitude". And on page 5/5, when I click the gauge fuel and then click the line again, it says "INVALID DATA" in the scratchpad.
I fly my Cessna 182Q in non controlled airspace….not to worried about the FMS..🇺🇸🇺🇸

I have a very complex one to do with the DIR > Incpt Function. let me look around on this page, and find the "personal message" link. did this with polyplanner a while back, and also with a FO for ASA on an RJ last year. he was kind enough to school me on many CRJ-200 things. ( also have THAT "other" brand in my SIm. 200, 700, 900 it's nice)

+Jon Martinez You can choose your route and your waypoints. Google SkyVector, with it you can plan your route, VFR, IFR low and high airways;). When it''s done enter these waypoints in the FMS as explained

@LandRoverWay23 hello. i have this aircraft. it is very complex. you "must' know some things before attempting to just 'jump in and fly off in her..... if you have any specific questions, please comment back. i will help you. there is much to know. and it would benefit you to do some investigating on your own and learn a bit about her systems and how they work. i assure you, the Auto Pilot Works. so does everything else. please ask away. i would be happy to assist you...cheers
