Brief tutorial for those who asked me for some tips on how to set up the FMC and to (simply) operate the AP (not exhaustive though).

Thanks for great video. If you are entering a flight plan manually, make sure you put the destination on left side where waypoints go. for some reason, not just DEST. You will not have access to arrivals and approaches. This author explains this on Video pt 3. Downloading from Simbrief works as it should. For those reading the XP 12 Citation X manual: They refer you to the FMS 11 manual to describe this Citation X Honeywell FMS. Don't bother it is a Collins. Not even close to the Honeywell.

Very nice video, man. I still couldn't convince myself to buy in X-Plane 12, but this plane seems to be one of the best new default aircrafts. Lookin forward to your next video with this plane.
When having more than one flight plan in the FMS Plans folder, the FMC takes the first one (alphabetically) in spite of choosing the one you want! It took me quite a frustrating while to figure that out. A bug? Thanks for the video. Great help indeed!

You videos clear up some issues I have been having.Thank you.
Your English is very good. As the FMC is both similar and different (?) from the Proline 21 of other sim models such as the Hot Start Challenger 650, this video provides real value to those of us who wish to come up to speed quickly. It would also be very useful if you could provide an overview of the capabilities and limitations of the present state of the Citation X FMC. Ability to set DIR INTC, or to add a HOLD to the flight plan. But also to confirm specific things that are not yet operational. Thanks again!
The level of detail of this FMC did actually surprise me to be a default aircraft and compared to the default FMC which came with XP11. The idea of going a bit deeper into its capabilities is a good point and I will try to bring some content on this matter though I will need some study before. I don't own the CL650 but I imagine its systems to be a perfect replica of the real ones so I don't know if FMCs are even comparable. Thanks for the idea and for watching the video!
@@crisk73 I will continue to pursue it. In my first couple of flights, I did not find a DIR INTC (e.g. direct to, with a user defined intercept course), ability to quickly add a HOLD if instructed by ATC, and also I didn't see Visual Approaches to select (e.g. with an RX specified such as 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0 miles. These are practical things that are needed in many actual live ATC flights, and for practicing purposes. Flying HOLDS manually in a fast jet without automation assist is good practice but not the way it's done IRL. Maybe some of this is possible on the Cit X.
I think the DIR TO is actually working, I don't know if the HOLD is, I may want to give it a try. As for the App Visual you mean the possibility to visualize the range rings?
@@crisk73 In Proline 21 for the Challenger 650, in the approach list at every airport I've flown into, there's a list of Visual Approaches, one to each RW, where you select the runway extension (RX) distance, and GPS will simulate the approach. So you can use automation assist to set up a base leg using a DIR INTC to the RX with an INT CRS being 90 deg to the runway heading, and then spin ALT to zero and use NAV-VNAV as the assist in flying the visual. It's fantastic once practiced. But it starts with the Visual Apch selection with the selected RX distance (IRL, it's 3, 4 or 5 miles, usually 3 or 4).
@@crisk73 The DIR TO is good if it allows entry of the intercept CRS. When I tried it, it immediately selected the FIX without allowing any further entry. So that's why I didn't think it supports the DIR INTC (intercept) capability which is too bad. It's a very fundamental capability. I think G1000 can do it.

Can you e xplane how to change an approach when one has already been programmed into the f code.For example when arc asigns a different one?Also if I make a mistake when pro gaming the fact how can I clear it to start over without turning off the computer and starting over? For some reason when I take off from a holding point and not from the beginning of the runway the plane is still directing me on the autopilot to the runway instead of proceeding to the next waypoint. Can you tell me how to fix this? BTW great video!
This is strange actually. Make sure that the next point of the magenta line is your next waypoint and not the runway.
@@crisk73 I know that, but is strange to select the departure with the runway and sid and then the autopilot to take you back to the runway :). It should automatically do that. So if I take off not from the beginning of the runway, I should direct in the FMC?
@@crisk73 In fact the autopilot thinks that I didn't pass the runway in flight so in stead of directing me to the next waypoint, it is directing me to the beginning of the FPL

Hi the throttle has got detents so if you advance full forward it goes to t/o, decrease a bit and it goes to climb.

Thanks. However, the plane keeps nosediving and then pitching up and stalling. I set the FL to 430 and then it changes to something else. Help!!
Might be the effect of overspeed. Keep an eye at the red bar on the speed indicator and stay below it.

my vnav can't set probaly, the thing in blue on right-top keep saying 1500 feet while my purple one says fl450
If you can engage the vnav button then it means it's set correctly. If not you get a warning message on the fmc display.

Central pedestal, on the left of the speedbrake lever: secondary trim - nose up/down switch.
Great instruction, however somehow I can't get the plane to climb. Is this information somewhere documented so I can find out what I am doing wrong?
What vertical mode are you trying to use? V/s, flc, vnav? Ensure the AP is engaged and check your mcp altimeter setting.
@@crisk73 thank you, found the issue forgot to set altimeter to FL100, now everything works as expected. It was driving me mad. :)
Hi mate, nice video... I am unable to set the initial crz altitude on page 4/5 of the performance init and on page 5/5, cannot set the fuel. I keep getting invalid entry. Any ideas? New to X-Plane, it's frustrating. It means I cannot get LNAV working.

Unfortunately it didn’t work. When I click the second time on fuel is says INVALID DATA.
Did you set your destination ICAO and cooy the same on the left side of the plan?

how can i set up my cruising altitude?
There's the altitude knob on the central pedestal. Dial in the same altitude you have set in the fmc.
