Been looking to buy a ssd and decided on the Sabrent 2tb. Amazon had the 1tb and 2tb on sale a few weeks ago. So far it's working great and its nice having the extra storage!
The easiest way to pull the cover off is to put it in your lap with the disc side up while sitting down. The bottom (when it's in vertical orientation) presses into your stomach. Then simply pull the top panel into your stomach as you pry it up by its Seto Kaiba collar. Took virtually no force to do this.
I've had this SSD for months. I bought the 4TB and it's absolutely amazing, definitely the best one in my opinion and worth the price. I would save up to get a higher size one, it's better in the long term
@@BoslagerBBQ 2tb is def not a waste even at full price believe me . Like the console itself already installs super quick, bro realistically how many games do you need instant access to ?
I have a 2tb internal and an 8tb external hard drive, I just store most stuff on the hard drive(and all of my couple hundred ps4 games) and then move them over when I want to play them and keep the few things I want to currently play on the internal storage or m.2
@@JohnGlasscock I also got the 4 TB as well. I was originally looking to get the 2 TB but the problem is when I went to a Computer store to get it (after waiting and looking for it for months ) they only had the 4 TB or the 1 TB so I knew it was gonna cost me at least double the 2 TB but after trying to find this particular model SSD for months I just said okay Pay the extra and never have to worry about storage issues again.
I’m a PS5 user still haven’t bought one for my PS5 but I did buy 2 of the 2 TB SSD for my gaming PC that deserves it plays the games better then consoles
This works very brilliantly. I absolutely enjoy it. Allows me to easily download the rest of my PS5 titles and some. Although the higher storage options were more expensive. I do enjoy the 1 TB option
I saw this same deal on amazon the other day I almost pulled the trigger on this exact model of M.2 but decided to go with a 2tb Western Digital but that is still a fantastic storage device
@@beast11135 I think for the price, 2 terabytes is better than one I have easily doubled my game library options on my PS5 since getting it gives the same amount of download speed. Not having to worry about storage has been a life saver, and DEFINITELY worth the money you will put down
The Patriot Viper VP4300 should be getting more attention. It has identical read/ write speeds, plus it also comes with an included heatsink and graphene label. Also, it has AES 256-bit hardware encryption, which this SSD doesn't have.
I love mine. I have the 2tb. It is cheap, runs cooler than the faster ones, and is faster than the internal SSD. Installation took me a couple of minutes. Watching the installation videos took longer than putting it in.
*The Adata XPG Gammix S70 blade 1tb is $129.99 and 2tb is $249.99 it meets all the specs for PS5 as well as comes with a heatsink straight out the box.*
I'm a PC gamer and I gotta say it's really awesome that Sony included an option to upgrade your SSD. I also am getting a PS5 tomorrow so I just watched this out of curiosity, I don't think ill need an SSD upgrade any time soon but I'm glad there's options.
You’ll be surprised how quickly it fills up and how much of that 1tb the operating systems uses. You’ve been able to change storage since ps3 I believe
That’s what I thought too but when I had to decide what games to uninstall in order to install new games, I realized I needed more storage space. I highly recommend getting one.
The only reason I watched this was because it was a 2:40 long video and not only do I know why but I also know exactly how to as well. In less than 3 minutes!! Amazing video keep up the great work!!
Great video with clear instructions as always. I went with the Gigabyte AORUS 2TB drive late last year and it's been fantastic. I run all my PS5 games from there and it too runs faster than the internal drive! Always worth shopping around for the best deals (especially as prices seem have dropped a lot right now), but if you can afford it it's well worth upgrading your storage :)
In my area, the Aorus 7000s has the best deals in all models while the others are mostly overpriced. The performance between the 7000s and the Firecuda 530 are exactly identical in the PS5 so I’d rather choose the cheaper one and not waste my money in extra read speed that cannot be put into use.
@@KOBiCrew Price is the only thing holding most of us back lol, they get spendy. I use the 2TB version of this SSD and its plug and play with the PS5. Some day I will pop for the 4TB one.
I might have to pick one of these up since I have yet to install an expansion SSD into my PS5. I hope like heck the PS5 add-on SSDs fare better than the official XSX memory expansion because for all the hoopla about the Xbox expansion being less of a gamble and proven working it has given me and others headaches with crashing games running off the expansion storage.
@@Jactional my assumption is that it connects to the motherboard just the same way the PS5 expansion m.2 does. I’d also guess that it runs hotter since it’s in that compact enclosure despite the SX metal interior frame acting as additional heatsink for those expansion m.2. Maybe it’s the heat or the slow speed that causes crashing although PS5 has plenty of games which crash too. I’ll have to take OP at his word that he’s isolated the crashing to his external m.2 compared to his internal m.2
@@Jactional I did not know that so not only is it more expensive than PS5 options it is not a real SSD it still runs off USB. I am very happy with my WD Black that got for €90 that work very well ever do it was lots hard to put in that I thought I if people say do zip zag to open PS5 thinking would open fast. Also, two screws were hard in different sizes everybody say you need one screwdriver. But guess worth it if get most of the speed.
Well the series x proprietary memory expansion cards are only about 3gb/s read/write speed. They are charging significantly more money for an inferior product.
I would also highly recommend the XPG Gammix S70 Blade. Had it ever since SSD’s were supported by Sony and haven’t had any issues. At around $100 (on sale) I’d say there are few competitors
Love your videos, bro. I've been holding off on getting an SSD like this simply because of the price, but this video made my decision for me. Keep up the good work, Brotato.
I went with a 500gb M.2 for mine. I delete my games after finishing them so space isn't an issue for me. I'm surprised the heat-sink isn't bigger. Mine covers the whole damn slot and then some. Gotta dissipate that heat especially during warm months.
John, thanks for your work! I would probably never had this cool SSD if not your video. Finally received, installed it - the speed is great, loading time as well. I'm happy! Good luck to you and your channel!
I'm...a stupid person and for some reason thought these SSDs were replacing the SSD already in the PS5. And i was wondering why everyone was spending almost $200 to well over $200 for just ~200-300 more GB of usable storage space over the base SSD. Now it makes way more sense and I'm going to be more seriously considering these. Thanks for the video.
You didn't have to open with "I'm a stupid person..." Some of us can comprehend that in your continued writing. Don't be so hard on yourself, that's our job here on YT.
I’m waiting to get a 4 tb for my pc. I have a western digital rn and that thing is still way better than hard drive. Curious about the fire cuda. 1 tb is plenty really unless you’re like me and lose interest in games every few weeks. Plus with game pass I find myself constantly trying something new, it’s no big deal to delete something and reinstall later when I want. But it would be a luxury to never do that
Bought this and it works great. Only issue I've had is with game The Forest - kept crashing when installed on the Firecuda, so I installed it on the original drive instead and it worked fine. Not sure why, but anyway - everything else works fine and you definitely need the extra storage space - especially with how much storage gets eaten up by the "other" category (my "other" is now at 80 gigs)
Will this allow ps5 games to actually be downloaded to it and be playable off it instead of having to download it onto the console storage? I have a hard drive (4tb) works perfectly fine on my ps5 tho it does not allow ps5 games onto it so I have to use console storage, so I just wanted to make that this allows me to download ps5 with no issues, and if just a compatible hard drive for ps5 Is good to, (ps4/ps5 compatible hard drive)
@@rufinosanchez4293 Um what do you mean your external won't allow PS5 games on to it? You can store PS5 games on an external you just can't play ps5 games from it...
I would probably add a thermal pad between the heatsink and the cover to get rid of the heat more effectively, though it likely isn‘t needed at all. This is assuming the cover is not steel, if it is steel there is no point as it has kinda poor thermal transfer.
I miss old youtube which was only this. No "message from our sponsors" no long winded tales explaining the events leading up to a decision. Damn youtube for inventing 10 min suggested runtimes for videos.
It is the fastest, but the difference is very small. In performance tests I found that the WD black and the 980 Pro are the best for ps5 usage. They don’t heat up as much as others, the speeds are identical, and they’re not as expensive
Damn bro. I'm green. I'm jus waiting for Sony to drop their official one. I'm happy if they drop the 2TB this year. If not, 'till then, I'll jus delete games as I play them and re-DL them when I want, since they're always there in my acc.
Samsung don't do a 4tb nvme bro. You must men you bought an external 4tb ssd. The speed difference between the two is night and day. If you have a ps5 I highly suggest you buy an internal nvme. Line the one highlighted in this video ssd my friend.
Just bought the 2 TB SSD. Might be a tad overkill considering I try to buy most of my games with a physical copy, but at least I'll never have to worry about storage space / having to delete and make room for any digital downloads I make down the road.
Damn 2 TB is crazy. I'm trying to buy one too but I'm not sure if I should take the 1 TB or the 2 TB version. I mean.... 2TB is way too much but 1 TB on the other hand might not be enough considering some games take up like 200 GB. Can you guys help me out here?
@@theking-jn8es The 2 TB option offers a 5 month payment plan on Amazon. So your bank account won't get crippled. That was deciding factor for me since it allowed me to pay $70/mo vs. the $300+ price tag all at once. Costed a bit more but now I have peace of mind knowing that I will probably never run out of storage.
I just bought and installed my FireCuda 530 1tb SSD using this video, thank you for the informative video. this really helped me as I've never installed an SSD before in my life.
After you formatted the ssd into the ps5, does it erase or delete any of your game save data from your console? I'm feeling skeptical to buy a ssd & I'm afraid that if I install it will delete every single of my game saved data from every game I played on. Does it happen by any chance?
@@jtsmjkingofpop3872 from my experience it did not do that, because where your games are is probably inside the console where as the SSD port is just outside the secondary casing. All you do is install the SSD and turn on your system, go to storage and you should easily be able to transfer your games straight to the SSD
The XPG has a 1TB comes and with heatsink. It was the first SSD Hard drive marketed for the ps5. Has 7400/6400 read and write speed (so faster than both you suggested. They are $139.99 Canadian or $239 Cad for a 2TB. So it beats both those. I've had mine in from the day it was released, and not even a single issue. Honestly I use it as my main drive. I find it faster than the PS5s SSD. So you might wanna do some more research the price does fluctuate but not for long!!! it's usually that price it might go up 30-40 CAD and that's still cheaper, But it also might go down. I have a buddy that paid like double for the Samsung SSD and he says it crashes all the time and loses files. But I have heard good things about the Sabrent PS5 SSD. With it though you have to pay again almost 1.5x the price plus $24.99 USD for the matching heatsink. I do have to admit the heatsink for looks far better but you don't see it anyway 🤷. So if your looking For a good PS5 SSD interna M.2 SSD drive I wouldn't look further than the XPG. Specifically designed for the PS5 and comes with the heatsink. So those 2 aren't the only amazing and best Internal M.2 SD hard drives for the ps 5 internal SSDs so do research better!!! ;)
@@Blarke-da-king I'd just type something like "2tb ssd heatsink" and see what options pop up. You can replace the 2 with any size you want. Just make sure it has a heatsink. Hey John, thank you for the advice...I barely had half of my storage filled & this baby right here makes it looks sooo clean. But I would hate to get my hopes up only to find out that they dont work or something but love to hear yours or maybe a commentor opinion/advice..thanks again!
I do know someone who has chucked in his 4TB drive into his PS5 when he sold his GPU and was unable to get a new one. He cleared his so it works fine. The thing about storage is that there isn't really a limit to how much you can chuck in. Its literally used to store data so adding more never really hurts, and if it does you could just get a refund and get a smaller one.
Well, as long as I have my full download speed of 30Mb/s reached, I do not need the ultra fast SSD for that purpose. BUT is it much faster in loading game to menu or in between compared to default SSD?! This is what I would be interested in
Couple questions. Bare with me. To confirm, this is an expansion HDD, for more space. Adding to existing console HDD space, correct? Next, if you’ll be having essentially two hard drives, will they be partitioned and be accessed and opened etc. separately? Or will they open and look like one and save as one? Frankly, that last part, about saving, is the only part that I truly can’t figure out. Rest I get the gist by context and knowing some stuff in this area. I would like your thoughts and/or advice. Haha and please don’t literally laugh out loud at me. Edit: oh one last thing. Is 1TB the cap in this situation, PS5 use?
I picked one up last Thanksgiving because of the Black Friday deals. It adds on to the pre existing storage and you can get more than 1 TB. It'll ask what you want your main storage device to be, your console or external storage, and that will be the primary. Once it's full, it will automatically switch to the second.
Also the most important thing to note about expanding the storage like this is that you are required to use this drive for ps5 game installations, other previous gen hard drives are not compatible. So it now becomes possible to get extra storage for those big downloads.
My 980 Pro sucked. It's speeds were only 5500MB/s. After researching, it requires a firmware upgrade to reach 6000+. So you'd better have a PC with an extra NVMe compatible M.2 slot handy. I didn't (because I have a SATA M.2 as a primary boot drive), so I returned that crap! I'd avoid the hassle and buy Firecuda, which worked straight out the box for me..
@@majormorgami I'm sorry to hear that... I've had no problems with mine, other than the pain of opening my PS5, I almost strip the SSD screw because the damn thing was so tight... A real headache but worth it in the end

The real question i've yet to see anyone answer is, if the primary soldered on SSD ever fails, could you install the PS OS onto a secondary drive in the expansion slot and run the system off that?
John 3:36 - The New International Version (NIV) 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
useful to know, i'm still a bit out of price range with this and I just keep blaming Sony the space they supply the console with is just not enough for most gamers, I am tempted but price wise could only get 1tb whereas i'd be much happier with 2tb, just frustrating with chip shortages and covid prices went silly and are still a little too high for me
Does the M.2 expansion have faster read and write speeds (with appropriate SSD) than the internal storage the PS5 comes with out of the box? I guess my main question is which storage device should I save the games I play most frequently?
It doesn’t matter both are just as fast and won’t make a difference where you install it on you’ll have super fast loading no matter what and technically the internal is faster.
It’s mili seconds apart so u won’t notice it unless u have like a timer and a side by side comparison, but technically m.2 (depends on what u get) in this case the firecuda ssd is faster slightly
@@Brandon0159 actually you're wrong. The Firecuda is faster at over 6500 MB\s. I just recently got one and keep all my games on it, leaving the original SSD empty except just for the system UI. While not double the speed or anything, there is a noticable difference in the dashboard and during in-game game loading.
There are a few tests and comparisons online with SSDs on PS5 and the differences between all of them are negligible. Only like milliseconds different speeds. This SSD wasn’t even the top performer with a lot of the tested games. Just get the cheapest one and you’ll be fine.
Not just for speed ,firecuda 530 will last over x2 as many cycles and overall terabytes written than any other ssd on the market . No other one even comes close on the lifespan factor

4TB will work...most likely maxes out at 6-8TB given current tech trends.

Same here. Normally they cost over $1000.00.
Thank you, guys.
