Jayden Dreemurr check the position of my fingers at 4:55.... you will see they angle inwards (even after releasing pressure) to catch the falling cards
I love modern technology. I spent almost 25 years being so jealous that my brother could do the cool bridge with a deck of cards, and all it took was an 8-minute UA-cam video to learn this skill. Thanks Jason!
I highly recommend to calm down... take a breath... and just watch this video one more time. I gave A LOT of details and troubleshooting techniques. It's quite possible not all of this sinks in the first time. Watch my finger positions carefully, and make sure you see the entire video. With practice you can DEFINITELY learn this shuffle... many others have commented on their success below. And I believe you can have it too. Just don't give up too soon. (By the way, as I mentioned in the video... the cards get bent one way first... don't hold it there too long... .and then they will be bent the opposite way.... so please listen carefully to the video.) Best of luck! This is a great skill to enjoy the rest of your life...! :)
I literally learned how to shuffle alright in a hour due to this video, and was hopeless before, so just be confident if you are losing hope. My best tips that I 100% reccomend to follow is just practice riffling with you thumb and to not be scared and apply lots of force on the cards with your index when shuffling. Don't worry you'll get it. 😁
That's great! People pay attention to Ben and don't give up! If you aren't getting it at first, keep trying and pay CAREFUL attention to the trouble shooting sections of the video. Make sure your fingers are in the same position as mine. It might take WORK. But you'll be happy you learned...... life-long skill! :)
What are you, master shuffler? Gamblers don't really care about shuffle techniques cos it's really hard to shuffle horses or other large things you can gamble on
Really important thing to note you want your thumbs parallel with the cards not perpendicular the tips should be facing away from you. This is a vital part that many tutorials don't mention because it's so ingrained they forget
Thanks for the extra tip! :) See my follow-up video in the pinned comment. I included this tip (and others) after reviewing issues people presented in the comments.
I owe you a huge thanks. I absolutely suck at card shuffling so badly that someone bought me a shuffle machine for a gift. I have used the hell out of it. I decided that I would learn and your video taught me how an easy to understand fashion with a few extras to boot. For the past week I have had a deck of cards sitting on my coffee table and every time I sit down I shuffle five times. I'm a thousand times better than I was and I can't wait till our next card game! Thanks thanks
I can't quite get the "combine" part down, both halves of the deck keep collapsing together at the same time. I suppose the result is the same but it definitely looks less impressive lol
I encourage everyone to check the troubleshooting section (Thanks @PickleFox!). Additionally...... see my follow-up video in the pinned comment! :) I spent time to make ANOTHER video, breaking down problems that people reported in the comments...
Though especially challenging to me, having taken 3 hours to truly learn it, the satisfaction of pulling off a clean shuffle with bridge is second to none.
Thank you! In a span of two days progressed from "have no idea what happens here" to an imperfect, but already functional technique. All thanks to this video and the follow-up
Very kind words! Thanks!! Yeah sometimes I go deep into details... I just wanted this tutorial to work for people who have had trouble watching other tutorials.... and just couldn't figure it out.
For consistency it's just going to be practice... leave a deck of cards nearby the couch and practice on different days. :) Also see my follow-up video in the pinned comment! :) I spent even more time to break down problems that people reported in the comments...
Great tutorial. What seperates this video from the rest, is the camera angle that makes it easier to understand what's going on, and the troubleshooting. Good job man
Holy shit, I used to get made fun of because I could never shuffle cards but now I'm getting the hang of it. I used to tell people my hands were too big, but apparently that makes it easier (i'm 6'4 and have giant hands)? Anyways, one tip I could give is not only is it important to know the right way to handle them but also knowing when you're about to do it wrong. When I would try to bend them, I could feel the cards being stiff in my hands and my thumb doesn't have control over them. I usually reset there and kind of practice with one hand just getting the feel of riffling them. It was much more difficult to do in my non-dominate hand for obvious reasons. Also flipping the cards around kind of bent them back and reset it. Anyways, thank you!
People have been trying to teach me this forever and my hands would not cooperate. But the way you broke it down- I got it in under half an hour. Thank you!
Big Tip for Everyone Facing Issues! Ensure you're keeping the cards far enough apart when your doing the shuffle! I struggled for weeks, tweaking almost everything, until I re-watched this video and noticed that crucial detail. Now it can do the shuffle no problem!! Thank you so much for the video as it helped me tremendously!!!!
As a child, my family was poor and I collected different decks of cards since that was, at the time, the cheapest hobby I could have had. Usually second hand decks from my uncle’s poker habit or used casino decks from dollar stores. I recently got back into collecting when I saw a random cardistry video on UA-cam and realized how artful most new decks are. Now as an adult with trigger finger in the middle finger of my dominant hand, I can’t riffle shuffle as well as I could as a child and found that the grip you use, and I suppose everyone else probably uses, helps me to ruffle again. Thank you for being the first cardistry tutorial I have watched and hopefully I can learn a few more moves that are light on middle finger movement.
Oh my word this was worth a watch. Look, I know how to shuffle but watched anyway out of curiosity while trying to beat insomnia late at night. This is hands down the best tutorial I've seen on the subject. Very clear instructions and demonstration. Every second in this video is utilized to reach the goal of the video, thanks for not trash talking away half the video and launching into the action straight away. You've peaked my interest, I've subscribed.
I have been going through a tough time lately, feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere with one past time that I’ve been doing for such a long time and feeling like I just couldn’t learn anything properly to get better at it. So I decided “Screw it-new hobby time” and always thought it would be awesome to get into card and coin magic. Except I’m starting from scratch, couldn’t even shuffle. So, already feeling cruddy about my learning abilities, but needing to try and pull myself along, I found your tutorial here for shuffling. I started out like junk and really impatient with myself… but when I settled down, really paid attention to your instructions and demonstrated steps, it worked!! I’m still working on smoothing it out, but feel so excited at being able to learn this simple but solid little foundation piece, where I’ve been shuffling cards basically the same messy way as I’ve been since about 7/8 years old lol thanks for such clear instructions. Can’t wait to look at the rest of your videos!
Probably doesn't matter that much.... but in general I do recommend Bicycle cards -- and I will put a link to them *IN THE DESCRIPTION ABOVE*..... (but more importantly, make sure you see the troubleshooting section of this video where I talk about the cards coming out in chunks or more individually. Also make your thumb-tips parallel to edge of deck, not perpendicular. Look closely at what I am doing.)
This was fun to watch. I am 69. I used to be a pretty good shuffler. I just realized why I'm not now after watching this video and it didn't work. I don't have any thumbprints left. I have worn them off. I'm moistened my thumbs and voila it worked. Just a little info for the oldies like me.
I spend a whole week learning this when I was younger, that was 25 years ago before UA-cam was popular.. haven’t touched a deck in about 10 years so i need this video to relearn this .. thank you so much
Завжди хотів дізнатися, як це в різних вестернах та інших фільмах герої так вправно перемішують карти. Аж он воно як! І секрети, як виправити всі лажові місця підчас перемішування - вони те що треба, ніби про мене розповів :)
while I was watching this video, the shuffling was great and i suddenly screamed: "OH, I LOVE UA-cam" and my mom got confused all of a sudden props to you, Jason Parker.
There is an element of muscle memory too - takes a little while to be able to lay in cards one at a time. Practising releasing the cards one at a time with each hand held me too. Same thing happened when I was learning other shuffles. You develop more control over a bit of time.
Are there any tips for getting a feeling for the cards or sth? Becausr I'm not even able to shuffle all the cards individually with my thumb, mostly there are like 5 cards falling down together. And if i manage to do it, my thumb feels hella crampy haha
Check the troubleshooting section I made about how NOT to release the cards in clumps. If your thumb is sore... give it a rest and practice the next day. You don't want to practice too much all in one day and hurt your hands. Seriously. :)
For some reason at the end of the riffle the cards seem to clump in one clump of about 10-15 cards (happens more in the left hand). Why is this happening?
You gotta let go smoothly with both hands evenly, at the end he has troubleshooting for it as well. Get the right angle and bend the cards enough to make an L shape.
Thanks this helped a lot. I play card games with my mom and step dad nearly every day and he always has to shuffle for me because I couldn’t do it. Now I will finally be able to do it myself :)
Thank you dude. I was gettin frustrated... really frustrated with my shuffling technequie (definitly not the whisky), and you cleared EVERYTHING right up. I can see you are a freakin card master and i will habitually watch this video till i look as good as you

Nub here. I've always had trouble aligning cards and always needed to kind of use the table to align them. Never ever considered using the pinkys to keep the cards aligned. Nice. Thanks! 5 year old video, but thanks!
i was doing this wrong at first with my thumb placement, making the cards go out in like bunches. When I watched this, my skills increased like SO much.
My Dad's side of the family have always been avid card players. I always got jealous seeing them able to shuffle like that but that I never could. Thanks for this tutorial!
I thought I already replied to this message, but I guess not? Pay special attention to the part where I show about beveling the cards to help with releasing them less in clumps. And really use the very edge of your thumb.... you don't want the cards too deep under your thumb. They should be almost about to lose their grip on your thumb. Hope it helps. Let me know!
Hey Jason, Thanks for video. I've always wondered and struggled on this shuffle. after 5min of watching this, I swear my shuffle improved 300%..THX ALOT
Thank you soooo so much!!! I’ve never been able to quite get this and I’ve had several people try and show me, although I usually just got the whole, “OMG you don’t know how to shuffle cards!?!” Like NO IM NOT COORDINATED NATURALLY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! but I legit just shuffled my cards like a dang pro!!! And I have YOU to thank for that. Lol. For real, thank you. And KUDOS!
I had a stroke last year and lost a lot of my abilities or I completely forgot how to do it but I remember it exists. So I have been trying to for months to be able to shuffle cards again. It's difficult to relearn but videos like this are so helpful. So thank you
JASON SIR THANKSSS SOO MUCHHHH!!!!! SOME OF YOU THINK I AM LYING BUT I SWEAR I AM SAYING TRUTH I JUST SEEE HOW YOU WERE HOLDING THE PILE OF CARDS AND WHEN I STARTED WITHOUT A BREAK IT SHUFFLED SO GOOD! THANKS SO MUCHHH!!
Me and my family are playing alot of card games last days but no one of us can really shuffle cards good so I hope I can impress them next time we play

Nub here. I've always had trouble aligning cards and always needed to kind of use the table to align them. Never ever considered using the pinkys to keep the cards aligned. Nice. Thanks! 5 year old video, but thanks!
Happy to help!
Let’s see if I get anywhere with this cardistry thing now that I’m in quarantine.

i was doing this wrong at first with my thumb placement, making the cards go out in like bunches. When I watched this, my skills increased like SO much.

My Dad's side of the family have always been avid card players. I always got jealous seeing them able to shuffle like that but that I never could. Thanks for this tutorial!
Wtf. I just can't get the cards one by one. I have tried everything but they just always end up in clumps of cards. Ugh I give up
Sol Power888 omg #relatable
I thought I already replied to this message, but I guess not? Pay special attention to the part where I show about beveling the cards to help with releasing them less in clumps. And really use the very edge of your thumb.... you don't want the cards too deep under your thumb. They should be almost about to lose their grip on your thumb. Hope it helps. Let me know!
@@jerzi4780 Check my reply... hope it can help you too!
