This, CS 1.5 and TFC were basically my teenage experience in a nutshell. I loved a lot of DoD maps (Avalanche, Anzio, Caen) but this one really sticks out when I think of the nostalgia I had for this game early in its life. God bless half-life and its mods lol
@@ParadoxIsland You can download the exact same bots I used in the video right here: sturmbot.org/index.php/downloads/send/3-sturmbot-for-older-dod-versions/13-sturmbot-version-1-1-dod-1-3-beta
Actually, 720p was very easy to achieve on a wide range of computers back in 2001. With a little bit of searching on older tech articles, you will find that even the first Radeon and Geforce cards from 2000 could handle resolutions very close to 720p (1024x768) without breaking a sweat in Quake 3 Arena, and if you bought the brand new Geforce3 that same year you could play at a massive (at the time) 1600x1200 with very smooth results (www.anandtech.com/show/742/5). Hell, even in 2000 a 750Mhz processor and the first Geforce2 card could handle Quake 3 at 1280x1024 like a champ and even 1600x1200 ran great (www.anandtech.com/show/537/11)!
yeah, 1024x768 was actually a pretty low-end by 2001, comparable to 1920x1080 today. I was running most games at 1280x1024 at that point and had a budget-to-mid PC _at best._ For an old (even at the time) game like Half-Life, even 1600x1200 was easily achievable on most hardware
A Joke : the day I decided to start Day of Defeat, I went to the official website and download it, it was this DOD 1.3 The download was long so I ended up not playing that night and going to bed. Next day, I install the mod and tried to joined a server. The game told me a new version was available, and I had to upgrade : I downloaded the version 1.3 only one day before the major upgrade. I was so disappointed !! :( I ended up fooling around for 30min just to get a feeling of the game (I remember this horrendous sniper rifle model) and then just download the whole thing again. After another day of download I could start playing. I remember the massive graphic update :)
Man I wish I had my old HD that I had every mod and custom map I could find on the net from years ago.... DOD was my favorite PC game next to Duke Nukem and Doom. Is there anywhere I can download and start a beta 1.3 DOD Server at?
COD is also a PC game. It's available for PC, too. Plus, why do you hate somebody for a video game they like? I can tell you're a child because you can't respect simple opinions

@@lukikas6900 I tried re-installing Half-Life (in my case, version 1.1.0.8), installed the Day of Defeat 1.3 Beta executable in my video description and downloaded and installed Sturmbot from this link: sturmbot.org/index.php/downloads/send/3-sturmbot-for-older-dod-versions/13-sturmbot-version-1-1-dod-1-3-beta and it all worked fine upon starting a local multiplayer game (I used dod_hill for the sake of old times). Assuming your version of Half-Life is compatible with DoD Beta 1.3 and you point both the installers to the main Half-Life folder you should not run into any issues.
Are you talking about variables for the debug/developer console? If so, maybe this list will help (assuming you didn't already see it)? www.gamerconfig.eu/commands/day-of-defeat/ Not sure if those commands apply to 1.3b, however.
this is cool - I remember playing this awkward mod ealry in 2000, then it evolved into best version, 1.0 :D We still have 1.0 server up and running with SturmBot 1.6 (32 slots). IP is 178.252.18.58:27016

Omg so many memories. Thanks for this video. Need the Dday map next.
Oh man... that was the good old days when I started out with dod!
oh, wow!
This bring back memories :-). i am a bit nostalgic.
Its so long time when i was 15 old.....
LOS! LOS! LOS!
Memories :)

This was my favorite map!
This map had awesome long range shootouts when snipers were disabled
Now that I can imagine will make things quite interesting
720p in 2001? Wtf, you must have had a beast of a computer then.

Yes, 16:10 was the shit back then. 16:9 looks so fucking ugly

There's a steam add-on you can play beta 3.1 on. 1 server currently available.
Mike Abisch not true - ProjektNostalgia is running DoD 1.0 free mob of this game (it snot Beta, its pre retaield version). Check our servers out!
Glad to be wrong about that one. I'll check it out
3:48 XD
The Beta Gewehr sounds were the same sounds as the shotgun in GTA 3/Vice City

One of the best WWII shooters out there.... can't top Call of Duty: World At War but still one shooter.
I play COD on PC.... XDDDDD

Hill trop cool, pouvoir utiliser le canon et les bombardements trop bon.
Great video...
Can you upload any CAAN vids? THX
The download does not come with a exe archive to open the game :(
That would be because DoD has to be run within Half-Life. Only the stand-alone versions of DoD will run on their own.
