Totally agree. When she hits the opening phrase of each verse, she is DOWN there, pitch dead on from a cold start, rock solid with perfect vibrato and phrasing. And then the timbre of that magnificent voice! To me, she was the best contralto of the Pop Era. Period. A true nightingale. I’m thankful daily for the gifts she had the time and opportunity to give us.
This song couldn’t be any better. I wish she could’ve given us more…such a beautiful voice, and then there’s her brother’s gift for composing and arranging. Gone too soon.
Gush! Like it was yesterday! I think 1982 or 1983 when Karen passed away. 40 years ago, guys! Amazing how the years pass and life moves on! I remember this video back then I wondered where those beautiful gardens were cause I always wanted to go to a place like that! Rest in Peace, Karen! Glad you don't have to see all the craziness that's going on in this cruel world! God bless both Carpenter siblings!
".. in my own time, nobody knew the pain i was going through "! You left us too early, Karen. Nothing but your sweet melodies remained in our Hearts ! Rest in Eternal Peace.. 😪😪
In the 70's my sister Carolyn and I were Richard and Karen Carpenter. This duo rocked the charts with one hit after another. I miss this beautiful voice.
We know Karen Carpenter was a straight-up Angel from God. And Richard too for writing this lovely music. This is one of my favorite songs by them. The Carpenters embodied that free and loving Spirit of the 70s. Karen left early, but she was Raised easily from this illusion we live in now. Though 2024 seems tremendously more hateful than 50 years ago when I was a kid, it isn't. All of us were created equally by God. We shall all learn to see it soon.
MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESTE BELLO VIDEO DE LOS CARPENTERS Y CON ESTA PRESIOSSA CANCION UNA EPOCA MUY BONITA ACABO DE VIAJAR A ESA EPOCA Y QUE FELIZ SE LA PASABA UNO EN TODOS LOS ASPECTOS Y UNO DE LOS PRINCIPALES LA MUSICA ME ENCATO LA DE ESE TIEMPO LA MUESTRA AQUI ESTA SEAN FELICES EL DIA DE MAÑANA 14 EL RESTO DEL MES AMOR Y AMISTAD Y PORQUE NO TODOS LOS DIAS HORAS SEGUNDOS MESES Y QUE VIVA EL AMOR Y LA AMISTAD GRACAIS POR COMPARTIRLO Y DISFRUTEMOSLO EN GRANDE SALUDOS DE SU AMIGO BOB
She was only a few years older than me. What a shame that she had all of these internal struggles with her appearance. Karen was a cutie with a voice of an angel. I really wish I had came across her path. She would have been treated so well, that anorexia thing would have never existed and at the age of 67 now, she would still be with us blowing us away with her voice.
She needed love but so famous n cudnt find it. The stress of touring set her depression off worse. That disease keeps the patient from seeking help n w bad eating just feeds on itself. Its a form of delusional disorder which is worse in those born pisces-the escapist sign
I love care lot of her songs when I was kid in the 70s I enjoy listen her songs on UA-cam I love more hear her songs on record album because didn't have you tube or CD albums back in the 1970s. She will always be special in my heart Karen thank you
Thank you so much for this, Ron SEVENTIESMUSIC ! So much more clear and I hear the accompaniment so much better!!! Love this !!! Hope you have time to make more !!! Thanks for all the hard work that you did to make this !!!
Love the video Ron! I love this song with all my heart and the video was so good. I wish I could visit those Japanese Gardens of Huntington Library. Bucket list!
I don’t like the way you chopped off the first part of the video! Karen behind the mike and Richard at the soundboard is the best part. Also the video portion is not in HD.
Great job on the video. Excellent sound quality. It's one of the most underrated Carpenters songs. More people should know about. 1975 Karen was beautiful.
"Only Yesterday" by The Carpenters peaked at these positions on major U.S. music charts: Billboard Hot 100 #4 May 24, 1975 Radio & Records CHR Airplay #7 May 9, 1975
15/10 - O músico americano, produtor musical, compositor e arranjador de música Richard Carpenter, comemora hoje seu aniversário de 77 anos. Ele formou metade da dupla de irmãos The Carpenters ao lado de sua irmã Karen.
only listen to this when you have a break from the world listening to this after dealing with the filth of the world and the evil people is too much of a difference to deal with
I have a question, instead of a comment . Where was this beautiful video filmed ? I can only guess that it's located in California somewhere ??? I hope for the publics sake that this park is still surviving and protected .
Yes what happened it seem her vocal reverb dropped out. a few years ago I heard this in a quadraphonic stereo mix here on UA-cam and it sounded fantastic only to be removed I would like to hear this song in that version ! Please restore this !
Sadly, her anorexia ran far deeper. She would eat very little, then take dangerous measures to expel the food, so it wouldn't absorb into her body. She viewed herself as overweight, even when she weighted under 100 pounds. This all stemmed from as lack of true love and support from her family. Very, very sad.
no one comes close to this legendary singer's voice, phenomenal
Gone way to soon. One of the best female artists of all time.
More like the BEST female singer of all time!
The BEST SINGER PERIOD, EVER!
I agree with you 🎉🎉🎉
The BEST Forever KAREN CARPENTER the best forever
Totally agree
THAT VOICE, THAT VOICE, THAT VOICE....that first note is absolutely perfect, pure and priceless!!!
Totally agree. When she hits the opening phrase of each verse, she is DOWN there, pitch dead on from a cold start, rock solid with perfect vibrato and phrasing. And then the timbre of that magnificent voice!

😊🎉🎉🎉
I love the intro so much, the drum beat and her low, low voice.
Her Low and Mid Register vocals are like silk, whenever I hear her Angelic Voice the waterworks start 💔✝
Again the famous fuzz guitar playing of the late Tony Peluso Again. RIP Tony

You left us too early, Karen. Nothing but your sweet melodies remained in our Hearts !
Rest in Eternal Peace.. 😪😪
I love this version even more . It's makes the song more complete, more appealing .

Amen, such a beautiful lady we lost way too soon.

I love this song. IMHO, the best song by the Carpenters.
This is the most "Underrated" video on my channel!!!
Underrated would be putting it mildly.
Love the video Ron! I love this song with all my heart and the video was so good. I wish I could visit those Japanese Gardens of Huntington Library. Bucket list!
Favorite Carpenters song. Sounds wonderful.

28/3/2020 stil love this song,🥰💖😘
You only need to hear the first line of a song to know it's Karen singing. When I die if I get to hear Karen Carpenter sing again I'd be in heaven.
Yes indeed. Karen Carpenter had a most beautiful and distinctive singing voice.
"Only Yesterday" by The Carpenters peaked at these positions on major U.S. music charts:
Billboard Hot 100
#4
May 24, 1975
Radio & Records CHR Airplay
#7

My very favourite
I'm still not over it.
My best song's ~~ I love them
thank you very good
The high fidelity sound quality diminishes at 1:21.
right.. what happened???
only listen to this when you have a break from the world listening to this after dealing with the filth of the world and the evil people is too much of a difference to deal with
INDEED
Karen and the Big O
The Best Ever Vocals!
Sublime
The high fidelity sound quality unfortunately diminishes due to excessive recording studio technique. Beautiful early song from the carpenters.
saudades
What happened to the sound at 1:22 it seems to have lost its stereo depth? just wondering?
The pitch and sample rate dropped slightly, right when the slideshow of Karen and Richard faded into the music video for “Only Yesterday”.
Hit 70s
🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏❤
❤❤
I have a question, instead of a comment . Where was this beautiful video filmed ? I can only guess that it's located in California somewhere ??? I hope for the publics sake that this park is still surviving and protected .
The video for the single was filmed at the Botanical Gardens at the Huntington in San Marino, CA.
Great job on the audio upload, but the second part of the video (visual) needs help.
@1:21 sound quality changed from being superb, to being lame.
Yes! What happened?
Yes what happened it seem her vocal reverb dropped out. a few years ago I heard this in a quadraphonic stereo mix here on
UA-cam and it sounded fantastic only to be removed I would like to hear this song in that version ! Please restore this !
The Captain
is off singing about muskrats to Henry Kissenger.
Karen is amazing
Nothing like Russian music!
3:55
pretty good sound..except around 1:22 it goes off a bit...
That's my baby singing
Early in the video the lips are in sync with the song then midway it all goes to hell.
Nenhum comentário em português, que pena!
but k sometimes hard to remember to eat to not 2
