Another addition to the theory would be when I was doing Yoosung’s route, and Zen was about to tell something related to his childhood and Seven said something like ‘Zen you can’t talk about your past in Yoosung’s route’ I felt so creeped out
I got that! But the route ended because yoosung said wait spoiler alert of soemthing anyways he said “I don’t like you” and it ended in day 7 and It restarted it but I’m new to it honestly I’m still kinda confused 😅

I didn't know how to play it. So I missed a lot of the first day chats. I figured it out that it was timed and figured out how to participate in the chats during school. After playing Yoosungs route first I was hooked. I'm trying to get deep story I have enough hearts and hourglasses now though I am in the middle of Yoosung route again after going through Zen's and Jaehee's. Ahhhh the amount of spoilers I have run into. I try not to read too much on Seven's route hearing that it is sad. Was anyone else a bit spooked when Seven would break the fourth wall

There’s a theory that 7 does know he’s a game character. 7 loves you in every route. No matter what route you take. He sees every time you restart and waits patiently for you to choose him. If you do notice he flirts with you in every route in some way. Since he’s the only one who sees your first (other then unknown which is 7s brother btw sorry for any spoilers) I don’t believe he’s an error I think the developers put this in
I agree, also Zen seems to like you in every route, but what makes him different than Seven is that he doesn't know he's in a game (except in one of the April Fools DLC endings but that's a different story bc it's a DLC and he doesn't keep his memories) I guess that's why I like Luciel and Zen the most lol

And yeah, just like the video states, Zen unintentionally breaks the 4th wall bc he does believe that his world is real and isn't aware of the game (as is more apparent that Luciel does) but he has those physic dreams or whatever that always tend to question the reality of the Mystic Messenger world, as well as bring up the fact about either them or the MC being AI or something, but those only appear in his reoccuring dreams. Also with the fact that Zen does care a lot for the MC in every route makes you question if he deep down inside knows. I don't think he does (besides that one ending in the April Fools DLC) but he's very attentive to that matter in his dreams which is interesting. I'd like to think of him as the casual story's Luciel just because of how intuitive he is - plus he always loves the MC so he's more of a low key version of Luciel in my mind...if that makes sense, I suck at explaining lol.

Idk if you know this but I was thinking about what he said at the end about choosing different answers and i went back and choose the more sexual answers and when I opened the box that yoosung gave me it was dark chocolate instead of the first time when I played it I got white chocolate and the ending was different. Hmm... What if Seven made Mystic Messenger in order for his friends to be happy with someone, and then S- I MEAN UNKNOWN hacked the game and made it so it's possible to attain a bad ending, and make the RFA miserable? So that's why, in the prologue of each route, Unknown brings MC to Rika's apartment to start the game, and use MC to get his revenge. Seven probably couldn't hack the game back to it's original form, so he added hourglasses to help MC get a good ending, instead of the bad ending that Unknown is usually apart of... but, that's just a theory, and most of it I thought of thanks to this video. Anyways, unknown wants to make 707 suffer from seeing MC go from different routes, so whenever the MC gets a bad ending she will restart and try to fix what they have done, while 707 waits for a long time, so it is possible that unknown knew that 707 is in the RFA in the first place. To make 707 suffer from seeing his family getting a bad ending so he tried to add the hourglass to the game
I want to add on to this theory: (spoiler alert) in 707's after ending Saeran mentions that on the way back, Seven would refuse to look away from the MC, and he even mentions that this is because "He (707) was afraid that she would leave him" which is kind of confusing considering that the MC did not do anything that could indicate that this was something that she would even consider throughout the story/route. During the chat, it is also mentioned that Seven asked the MC to marry him very quickly and almost in a hurried manner. The other characters are surprised by this and even mention that he seemed like he was rushing things and had seemed almost desperate to marry the MC as soon as possible. What marriage can be described as is a vow to love and be with a single person for the rest of your life, so this could be seen as Seven's way of trying to keep the MC from resetting the game once more to seek another character's route since they had already made a promise to stay together forever. I might be reading too much into this, but I always thought that his after ending had something fishy about it, but when taking this theory into consideration it kinda makes more sense.
I'm late to say this, but I plan to play 707's route first then do everyone else's and then play his again just to think about how much agony he is experiencing from it.

SPOILERS for one of Yoosung's bad endings! Seriously, if you're still reading this you're gonna get spoiled. We cool? Okay: After playing through all the casual routes I was curious of what a bad ending looked like, so I tried my best to be the worst. I ended up getting the first bad ending on Yoosung's route and it honestly broke my heart. He said something along the lines of "Talking to robots is boring, isn't it?" and that he knew he was in a game but was scared to say anything because he thought V and Seven would somehow get rid of him if they found out he knew; he said that all of the members were normal people who got their minds erased and just put into the game. It was honestly scary for me to see Yoosung say things like that, how he doesn't care anymore and that they can come after him, how all the other members thought he was crazy. I love Seven's character, but for half a second I was almost convinced he was the bad guy. I know that's far from the truth but just thinking about that moment gives me chills... Moral of the story: avoid bad endings if possible.
J. E. R. R. On one bad end, yoosung knows about them being robots ( it's a different one ) Zen was the first one I believe to say they weren't, because he is human. The others agreed afterwards. it broke my heart.
Shouraru I think maybe the problem is that you might not enter enough chatrooms. You have to enter a certain number of chats (or participate a certain amount) to not get a bad ending. If that's not the problem then try to get as many hearts for the person you want to get the route for. If you give an equal amount of hearts to everyone (and not enough hearts to a certain person) then you'll probably get a bad ending. Other than that try to pick options that would encourage a healthier lifestyle for your preferred character (unless you're not on their route yet; you have to just be super nice to them before getting their route). These tips aren't 100% guaranteed to get you a good ending, but they're what I learned, and I never got a bad ending using them (except for that one time I got it on purpose which was mentioned earlier). Hope this helped!
That call literally made me cry. It's so sad that he's sad. I low key love Saeyoung more than real humans other than my parents and brother but that's because they are family. Real romantic love is broken and replaced by this fake reality. Every option happy and in caring. Is this how I mask my real self? Even when my cat pressed a button during Jahee's route and it asked Zen what he thought of me he seen through this mask. The options don't give you the opportunity to say what you want but they form my mask. Deeper and deeper. No one dares to take it off. I vividly remember one option that gave me the opportunity to break this mask. One option. Saeyoung's route. Around the 8th day I chose the option: I like this dangerous side of you better. I think the real thing that connects me to Saeyoung is that we both like to pretend. We both have a mask. A mask only ourselves can break. A mask that leads to the darkest emotion. A mask that no one dares to break because they know once they break it they can't unsee what they seen. I take my mask off to some people. Although never have I seen someone like Saeyoung who wears the same mask to cover the same thing. Depression. I know I break that mask here but you don't know me personally, most likely you never will.
@@viannatran2119 The reason you got that ending was because you either didn't get enough hearts for the Casual Story people to choose a route, or got too many from Deep Story characters, you can't fix it 😭 You literally have to restart and make it right 😭

I remember in one chatroom that seven made a game but forgot the password and in the promotional video for mystic messenger he claims that he made the game. also zen said that he thought he saw the mc in a dream and in every good ending I always notice that yoosung says that mc looks exactly what he imagined its like the whole game is always reseting and always starting over. that's just my theory that probably the game will never end 😂
I haven't done the Jumin's route yet.. And seeing that I will pick that phone call from Seven, when he acts ''strange'', I don't want to do the Jumin's route anymore.. I don't want to hear him sad 😭 and it is actually very creepy.
SPOILERS this makes me think about when i was on zen's route and unknown hacked into the security system, which meant that everyone in the chatroom found out about the bomb. seven was the most hurt out of everyone when MC was mad and panicked. he didn't sleep and worked hard to fix it, even gave zen the address to the apartment just so he could save MC.

Unknowns voice is so deep it actually scares the honey Buddha chips out of me. It does not suit him. He should have a delicate soft voice, being the fragile and adorable emo flower that he is.

I remember there was this part where your were talking to him about something totally unrelated and he said we should go to sleep instead of playing the game till late, and then he logs out. I know there are other situations where he did something similar but that's the only one I remember now. And also, Yoosung said that V knew too. And that V knew that Seven knows too (and vice versa, if that makes sense lol)

Once again, yes, there are times where he breaks the fourth wall, but does know it.. as I said before; he gets confused when you say something that indicates outside the game. why? because he doesn't know. since he's being controlled since he's a puppet, by seven.
Well i didn't say that 'Yoosung' (as in his good ending) knew, Yoosung said all of that in one of his Bad Endings actually, where Zen dreams about us being a machine or something and the next day Yoosung is saying things like that they are brainwashed, that V and Seven were controlling them. As for Jumin, it could be something else you know? Seven actually jokes about things that are serious, so it's no surprise to see him talk about the game and that, but Jumin is more cautious. I'm not sure that he knows as much as Seven does, but I'm pretty sure he knows that MC and the RFA don't quite belong in the same realm, at least. He knows and talks about the game, but maybe he doesn't know to what extent it goes, so he gets confused.

When I first played Mystic messenger, I wasn't aware of what "breaking 4th wall" was so I brushed it all off. Then, I played again and tried to go for Seven's route. When i was chatting with a few friends on discord, I asked them what "breaking 4th wall" was and they explained it. I replayed a few of sevens chats and realized he did it alot. SPOILER: so, I havent played in a while and I was out of the fandom for a bit so I may have this wrong, but I believe in one of Sevens endings or the valentines day special, he tells you that "I'm sorry if you didnt like this ending, you can replay and pick the other options to get a different ending." And when I first saw that, it freaked me the hell out. Cheritz was smart with the names, the meaning for the error codes 707 and 606 make this understandable. Your explanation was great, gave me a sense of Nostalgia, haha

Cirenoz Leoney is it bad if I do reset but only to play his route all over again? I've only done Yoosungs route once and then Sevens route and I loved it so much that each time I finished I reset it already like 3 times in order to choose Seven again. I'm not interested in the other routes.
*2019* I installed this game not to long ago but uninstalled a couple of days later because it wasn't taking me anywhere and nothing was happening and this made sense cause when I was playing 707 was kinda strange but I tried not to think about about and it was weird cause I was gonna restart but then I got a message of 707 and he knew about the reset button....

I’m on the 5th day of Zen’s route when I watched Doki Doki Literature Club gameplay and all those breaking-the-4th-wall shits. And suddenly I remembered the same thing happened on the 3rd day, when Zen told me that he had this weird dream, where all the MC and I are robot and this is just a game. After that, I stopped playing mystic messenger lol. I know DDLC and MM has no connection whatsoever, but seeing a character in a visual novel trying to break the 4th wall always creep me out.
When I first started playing this game I fell in love with Luciel. I was like: Yeah I want his route. I didn't know you had to pay 80 HG to unlock (and I didn't know that the game gets really dark and deep). So I played it and Luciel was funny as hell. Stupid me lost all HG because I kept calling everyone and the never answered. I got Yoosung's route and I was mad... and then I got a bad ending because I wasn't paying attention to Yoosung and I wasn't in chatrooms because I didn't have time. So I discovered that I had to unlock Luciel's route. Started over again to get HG and wanted Zen's route. Got Yoosung again. Bad ending. Uninstall MM. Wanted to play over summer but for some reason didn't. So during winter break I was out with my friends and I was telling her about MM and how I miss it. She was like: Well why don't you install it again? So I did. Ahhh memories... have some HG left from before. I want Zen. My heart is breaking because I have to ignore Luciel and be an asshole. Got Zenny. Happy af. Good ending. Perfect. 44 HG but I can turn hearts into HG so it will be 80. But... I want Zen after ending... 20 HG... and I can't play MM 'til summer... so now I'm waiting... I don't want to delete the game because of Luciel. So I'm listening to old calls and reading old chatrooms.

Thank goodness. Someone understands that the game is just programmed like this. The characters cannot hack, they are npcs'. The hour glasses are there just because sometimes people aren't always awake or available when the chats open. It's an awesome theory, and a cool way too think about the game, but the game is just a game.

Morgan Lemons Oh my gawd. I've been playing for almost two months now.....You are extremely right. I was recommended MM by a friend. a month later on a boring afternoon I decide to give it a go. I didn't know how to play it. So I missed a lot of the first day chats. I figured it out that it was timed and figured out how to participate in the chats during school.
After playing Yoosungs route first I was hooked. I'm trying to get deep story I have enough hearts and hourglasses now though I am in the middle of Yoosung route again after going through Zen's and Jaehee's. Ahhhh the amount of spoilers I have run into. I try not to read too much on Seven's route hearing that it is sad. Was anyone else a bit spooked when Seven would break the fourth wall

There’s a theory that 7 does know he’s a game character. 7 loves you in every route. No matter what route you take. He sees every time you restart and waits patiently for you to choose him. If you do notice he flirts with you in every route in some way. Since he’s the only one who sees your first (other then unknown which is 7s brother btw sorry for any spoilers) I don’t believe he’s an error I think the developers put this in
I agree, also Zen seems to like you in every route, but what makes him different than Seven is that he doesn't know he's in a game (except in one of the April Fools DLC endings but that's a different story bc it's a DLC and he doesn't keep his memories) I guess that's why I like Luciel and Zen the most lol

And yeah, just like the video states, Zen unintentionally breaks the 4th wall bc he does believe that his world is real and isn't aware of the game (as is more apparent that Luciel does) but he has those physic dreams or whatever that always tend to question the reality of the Mystic Messenger world, as well as bring up the fact about either them or the MC being AI or something, but those only appear in his reoccuring dreams. Also with the fact that Zen does care a lot for the MC in every route makes you question if he deep down inside knows. I don't think he does (besides that one ending in the April Fools DLC) but he's very attentive to that matter in his dreams which is interesting. I'd like to think of him as the casual story's Luciel just because of how intuitive he is - plus he always loves the MC so he's more of a low key version of Luciel in my mind...if that makes sense, I suck at explaining lol.

Hmm... What if Seven made Mystic Messenger in order for his friends to be happy with someone, and then S- I MEAN UNKNOWN hacked the game and made it so it's possible to attain a bad ending, and make the RFA miserable? So that's why, in the prologue of each route, Unknown brings MC to Rika's apartment to start the game, and use MC to get his revenge. Seven probably couldn't hack the game back to it's original form, so he added hourglasses to help MC get a good ending, instead of the bad ending that Unknown is usually apart of... but, that's just a theory, and most of it I thought of thanks to this video. Btw, great video!

Anyways, unknown wants to make 707 suffer from seeing MC go from different routes, so whenever the MC gets a bad ending she will restart and try to fix what they have done, while 707 waits for a long time, so it is possible that unknown knew that 707 is in the RFA in the first place. To make 707 suffer from seeing his family getting a bad ending so he tried to add the hourglass to the game

I want to add on to this theory: (spoiler alert)
in 707's after ending Saeran mentions that on the way back, Seven would refuse to look away from the MC, and he even mentions that this is because "He (707) was afraid that she would leave him" which is kind of confusing considering that the MC did not do anything that could indicate that this was something that she would even consider throughout the story/route. During the chat, it is also mentioned that Seven asked the MC to marry him very quickly and almost in a hurried manner. The other characters are surprised by this and even mention that he seemed like he was rushing things and had seemed almost desperate to marry the MC as soon as possible. What marriage can be described as is a vow to love and be with a single person for the rest of your life, so this could be seen as Seven's way of trying to keep the MC from resetting the game once more to seek another character's route since they had already made a promise to stay together forever.
I might be reading too much into this, but I always thought that his after ending had something fishy about it, but when taking this theory into consideration it kinda makes more sense.

SPOILERS for one of Yoosung's bad endings! Seriously, if you're still reading this you're gonna get spoiled. We cool? Okay:
After playing through all the casual routes I was curious of what a bad ending looked like, so I tried my best to be the worst. I ended up getting the first bad ending on Yoosung's route and it honestly broke my heart. He said something along the lines of "Talking to robots is boring, isn't it?" and that he knew he was in a game but was scared to say anything because he thought V and Seven would somehow get rid of him if they found out he knew; he said that all of the members were normal people who got their minds erased and just put into the game. It was honestly scary for me to see Yoosung say things like that, how he doesn't care anymore and that they can come after him, how all the other members thought he was crazy. I love Seven's character, but for half a second I was almost convinced he was the bad guy. I know that's far from the truth but just thinking about that moment gives me chills...
Moral of the story: avoid bad endings if possible.

Shouraru I think maybe the problem is that you might not enter enough chatrooms. You have to enter a certain number of chats (or participate a certain amount) to not get a bad ending. If that's not the problem then try to get as many hearts for the person you want to get the route for. If you give an equal amount of hearts to everyone (and not enough hearts to a certain person) then you'll probably get a bad ending. Other than that try to pick options that would encourage a healthier lifestyle for your preferred character (unless you're not on their route yet; you have to just be super nice to them before getting their route).
These tips aren't 100% guaranteed to get you a good ending, but they're what I learned, and I never got a bad ending using them (except for that one time I got it on purpose which was mentioned earlier).

That call literally made me cry. It's so sad that he's sad. I low key love Saeyoung more than real humans other than my parents and brother but that's because they are family. Real romantic love is broken and replaced by this fake reality. Every option happy and in caring. Is this how I mask my real self? Even when my cat pressed a button during Jahee's route and it asked Zen what he thought of me he seen through this mask. The options don't give you the opportunity to say what you want but they form my mask. Deeper and deeper. No one dares to take it off. I vividly remember one option that gave me the opportunity to break this mask. One option. Saeyoung's route. Around the 8th day I chose the option: I like this dangerous side of you better.
I think the real thing that connects me to Saeyoung is that we both like to pretend. We both have a mask. A mask only ourselves can break. A mask that leads to the darkest emotion. A mask that no one dares to break because they know once they break it they can't unsee what they seen. I take my mask off to some people. Although never have I seen someone like Saeyoung who wears the same mask to cover the same thing. Depression. I know I break that mask here but you don't know me personally, most likely you never will.

SPOILERS this makes me think about when i was on zen's route and unknown hacked into the security system, which meant that everyone in the chatroom found out about the bomb. seven was the most hurt out of everyone when MC was mad and panicked. he didn't sleep and worked hard to fix it, even gave zen the address to the apartment just so he could save MC.

I know there are other situations where he did something similar but that's the only one I remember now.
And also, Yoosung said that V knew too. And that V knew that Seven knows too (and vice versa, if that makes sense lol)

Also, V does know that this is a game, but not Yoosung. Once again, yes, there are times where he breaks the fourth wall, but does know it.. as I said before; he gets confused when you say something that indicates outside the game. why? because he doesn't know. since he's being controlled since he's a puppet, by seven.
Well i didn't say that 'Yoosung' (as in his good ending) knew, Yoosung said all of that in one of his Bad Endings actually, where Zen dreams about us being a machine or something and the next day Yoosung is saying things like that they are brainwashed, that V and Seven were controlling them.
As for Jumin, it could be something else you know? Seven actually jokes about things that are serious, so it's no surprise to see him talk about the game and that, but Jumin is more cautious. I'm not sure that he knows as much as Seven does, but I'm pretty sure he knows that MC and the RFA don't quite belong in the same realm, at least. He knows and talks about the game, but maybe he doesn't know to what extent it goes, so he gets confused.

When I first played Mystic messenger, I wasn't aware of what "breaking 4th wall" was so I brushed it all off. Then, I played again and tried to go for Seven's route. When i was chatting with a few friends on discord, I asked them what "breaking 4th wall" was and they explained it. I replayed a few of sevens chats and realized he did it alot. SPOILER: so, I havent played in a while and I was out of the fandom for a bit so I may have this wrong, but I believe in one of Sevens endings or the valentines day special, he tells you that "I'm sorry if you didnt like this ending, you can replay and pick the other options to get a different ending." And when I first saw that, it freaked me the hell out. Cheritz was smart with the names, the meaning for the error codes 707 and 606 make this understandable. Your explanation was great, gave me a sense of Nostalgia, haha

I’m on the 5th day of Zen’s route when I watched Doki Doki Literature Club gameplay and all those breaking-the-4th-wall shits. And suddenly I remembered the same thing happened on the 3rd day, when Zen told me that he had this weird dream, where all the MC and I are robot and this is just a game. After that, I stopped playing mystic messenger lol. I know DDLC and MM has no connection whatsoever, but seeing a character in a visual novel trying to break the 4th wall always creep me out.

When I first started playing this game I fell in love with Luciel. I was like: Yeah I want his route.
I didn't know you had to pay 80 HG to unlock (and I didn't know that the game gets really dark and deep). So I played it and Luciel was funny as hell. Stupid me lost all HG because I kept calling everyone and the never answered. I got Yoosung's route and I was mad... and then I got a bad ending because I wasn't paying attention to Yoosung and I wasn't in chatrooms because I didn't have time. So I discovered that I had to unlock Luciel's route. Started over again to get HG and wanted Zen's route. Got Yoosung again. Bad ending. Uninstall MM. Wanted to play over summer but for some reason didn't. So during winter break I was out with my friends and I was telling her about MM and how I miss it. She was like: Well why don't you install it again?
So I did. Ahhh memories... have some HG left from before. I want Zen. My heart is breaking because I have to ignore Luciel and be an asshole. Got Zenny. Happy af. Good ending. Perfect. 44 HG but I can turn hearts into HG so it will be 80. But... I want Zen after ending... 20 HG... and I can't play MM 'til summer... so now I'm waiting... I don't want to delete the game because of Luciel. So I'm listening to old calls and reading old chatrooms.
Zen and i was chatting in jaehee route, i said “say hello to jaehee for me” then zen said “i will, its bad to play games this late~” and its 03:36AM 😳

Thank goodness. Someone understands that the game is just programmed like this. The characters cannot hack, they are npcs'. The hour glasses are there just because sometimes people aren't always awake or available when the chats open. It's an awesome theory, and a cool way too think about the game, but the game is just a game.
