I loved this! Always good to see people talk about MM, here's some neat tidbits (SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING): 1. Jumin had feelings for Rika, and she gave him Elizabeth the 3rd I think? That is part of the reason he's so attached to the cat. Also why he is so attached to MC in his bad ending, he has abandonment issues. 2. I think most of the illustrations you don't recognize are from the normal endings loool 3. In the VIP Guidebook a question is asked about 707: Q: What do you look for in a woman? A: Does it have to be a woman? Why are you limiting my potential significant others! lolol Whether it's a woman or man, what's important is that we share the same sensibility! If that person lets me deactivate my restrict jokes switch, then I'll definitely go for him or her. Basically bi/pansexual 707 real! 4. Rika and V were both toxic to each other, it's really complicated tbh. In the secret ending after V dies, Rika completely shuts down mentally and becomes mute. I think that's why the RFA put her in a mental institution like Saeran instead of coming out with Mint Eye and getting her thrown in prison? But at the funeral she cries and smiles at the sun because she remembers V I think. The only word she manages to say is 'sun'. Also here is a messed up implication I always forget about that is from the secret endings: 707 finds a USB full of pictures taken by V of Rika and him. Apparently these pictures are disturbing judging by Seven's reaction. Add to this that one bad ending from V's route and... yeah. There is also the time V let Rika stop going to therapy because she felt like she wasn't getting better, even though her diagnosis is really severe? None of this excuses Rika's actions, but I think people forget V's actions in all this because Rika's are immediately more horrendous. It's the story of how love isn't the only thing you need for a relationship to work, if your loved one is suffering through an illness you need to get them the help they need, and in Rika's case she needed to stay on her treatment even if she didn't want it because her condition was so severe, she was not in a position to make that decision. V was, and due to his own past traumas he thought all he needed to do to help her was love her. Unfortunately, that's not how things work. (oops I did not mean to write this much lol). 5. One of the reasons Zen resents Jumin is that he reminds him of his older brother. 6. When Rika approaches Zen to join the RFA he refuses at first. Then, at night while driving on his motorcycle he gets into an accident and V was there to save him. Apparently V was following him to try and get pictures?? EDIT: In Another Story, V and Zen have a conversation addressing this, and they both acknowledge how creepy and stalkerish it was! Also, I think Zen wondered how in the world V managed to keep up with Zen, since he was speeding on his motorcycle. Even if V was in a fast car or something, its not like he can drive and take a picture at the same time??? (V is totally a normal human guys! They pointed out how weird it is for him to have blue hair in AS for nooo reason! Yup! Yoosung saying that Seven and V are the only ones who have free will in the casual story common route bad ending is just a big false alarm!) 7. Zen's dreams are deepest lore stuff that I cannot get into here (April Fool's DLC is crazy bro). 8. 707 also crossdresses because as an agent when they need an agent to disguise as a woman, they bring him in because he's small lol He also enjoys wearing dresses to a certain extent too. 9. Jumin has a bad impression of woman because of his chauvinistic dad, but also because of his birth mom. Their relationship is extremely strained. EDIT: this was revealed in the Jumin bad ending DLC, but we also learn about his strained relationship with his birth mother from phone calls in the OG game. I think even I kind of overlooked Jumin's character, even though I thought he would be my favorite member when I saw MM get announced based on promotional stuff. A lot of his portrayal by the fandom is as this sexy dude but my god he needs therapy so baaaad. He gets screwed over so hard in the secret endings. Hell, even in most endings! He keeps searching for V, his oldest friend who he trusted even though trust doesn't come easily to him. And he never finds him because he probably dies or goes back to Mint Eye forever. In his route it is revealed that he does feel emotions but buries them for the sake of work, and based on the Jumin bad ending DLC this bottling up started in childhood. It was so bad that his birth mother found him disturbing, locking him in a basement so that he is forced to play with toys and to be a 'normal child.' He tells MC that he thinks of himself as a monster. In his route he started to express his emotions, but I argue I think getting into a relationship with MC is a bad idea. His possessiveness + bottled emotions bursting out causes him to be unstable, leading to bad endings like the one where MC literally jumps out the balcony in his patio to get away from him! Sure, in the good ending he isn't as bad and he starts to listen to other's opinions, not trapping Elizabeth or MC in his penthouse anymore. However, in his good ending he proposes to MC in front of the entire RFA charity party! He puts her on the spot, how could MC reject him when he did a public proposal? That's the opposite of giving others agency over their choices. An engagement after knowing someone for not even 2 weeks... he is more like his father than we could have imagined. Honestly, I wish Jumin didn't propose to MC at the end, it ruined the message of his route for me. I wish we got to see him go to therapy or something in his after ending and then propose to MC after he has reconciled his 'tangled feelings' as he like to call it. 10. Jaehee cut her hair short and wears glasses because Jumin instructed her. This is because he worries his father will try and flirt with her otherwise. This is why in Jaehee's route she stops wearing her glasses. In her After Ending and Valentine's Day DLC she grows out her hair because I think thats her real preference. 11. Another Story, the common route bad ending, April fools DLC all hint that the RFA are AI/robots. Deepest loooore 12. Jumin, V and Jaehee(?) were raised Christian. Rika is Catholic I think. That's why in one of the images Jumin and Jaehee are seen praying. EDIT: Jaehee is catholic. Same with Saeyoung. 13. I'm pretty sure its hinted later in Jaehee's Christmas & Valentine's day DLC that she has romantic feelings for MC. I think in the original route Cheritz was a bit on the fence about it? Not as blatantly clear as Saeyoung sage :( 14. Rika kills the twin's moms in self-defence because the mom attacks her and threatens to take Saeran. This and her dog Sally dying throws Rika in the deep end. 15. V is Jihyun's photographer name. He probably does this for privacy reasons. 16. In the Zen bad ending where he looks like a vampire, what happens is that he was kidnapped along with MC if you fail the confrontation in the apartment with Unknown. He and MC are drugged with the elixir. In Mint Eye they put on plays, because Rika loves Zen's acting. Zen does nothing but practice and Unknown scolds him if he doesn't get it right, hence why he looks like that in the illustration. ... Can you tell Mystic Messenger is one of my special interests?
To add to point 3, Saeyoung does flirt (jokingly?) with Zen during the Christmas DLC during Christmas Eve in a chatroom called "Can't rest on Christmas". His crossdressing can also count towards his queerness, but idk. Its possible there are more instances of him casually/jokingly flirting with other RFA members. Even if he isn't seriously interested in them, the fact that he is comfortable saying these things at all speaks volumes. Love to see it! EDIT: just formatting.
🥴 not this information in the stream being outdated (granted it's been a while since you played- but there's a Mystic Messenger Wiki)🥴 Some things you left out/said wrong for eg. Rika did in fact Abuse and Manipulate Saeran with not just the elixir, but she would beat him and constantly degrade him when Unknown makes mistakes---Rika Bleached Saeran's hair and dyed it white to hide his identity (to become Unknown). Rika took Saeran-- to "save him" but she literally does the opposite and makes him have DID as he gets older. Rika also ends up getting sent to a mental hospital (or authorities) after she gives herself up in one of the Another Story routes. And when V dies in the True Ending - She goes to V's funeral and everyone figures out she's still alive via Jumin- (he actually knew as much as V, but couldn't say anything). After the Funeral, Yoosung ends up taking care of her because she reverts back to an enfant-like state of mind. She loses all capability to speak or function because when V dies her reality is reset. This whole video was really fun to watch though and the fact that u got someone to sit through the entire plot of MysMes is pretty crazy.
