    Hey guys, just to let you know FORMATTING your card ERASES EVERYTHING off your camera so please do not format unless you’re ready to! In my tutorial I just start formatting and explaining as I go and I’ve had some people actually format their cards on accident. Hopefully this helps someone!

      I always format my cards all the time and my camera has never erased any settings, just the pictures off my cards.

      @adamsmith6594 6 років тому

      You can actually retrieve the formatted photos as long as you take no more photos after formatting .... free software retrieval gets them back. Once you take another photo after formatting .... forget it their gone.

      I'm a little confused.. I just ordered this camera today actually. I've never used a dslr camera before. I'm new to all of this. Do you have to format the SD when you 1st install it? Like a brand new SD card. Are you saying not to reformat a already used SD card if you switch them out?

      Carmela Frontera I believe she’s talking about the pics, not the settings.

    9:25 The higher the number, the better you can capture the movement without any blur. Also the lower the ISO, the beautiful the contrast with pictures that are involved with sunlight. However, high ISO makes it more grainy.

    hi! I just subbed coz I found this channel very interesting plus this tutorial gave me a lot of ideas about my newly purchased t6i. I'm so happy that you made this video as a walkthrough to people like me. I would truly appreciate if you could make a new video on how your settings are on a video mode. I'm still feeling confused since I am new to dslr. Thanks in advance!

    This has to be the clearest tutorial I've seen for the Canon t6i thus far, the dog can be heard in the background but being a dog lover myself it was fine and didn't disturb the learning process. Keep up the good work. Be great.

    I have one of these cameras. I use it for some stills indoors and out and some video/movie stuff. I have a tripod if I want and a portrait lens too. I always put it on auto and press "go" and it always seems to deliver a good result. It's hard to take a bad picture with this camera but I've bookmarked this excellent tutorial because I'm goint to get a little more ambitious. Great vid, thanks.
    A couple of things - if you have this type of camera, get a decent rainproof travelling bag if you don't already have one, a sort of "backpack" thing that will stash everything. Keep it in there when you're not using it.

    Hello! I actually just bought this camera 4 hours ago and tbh I love it :) although I spent soo much $$ on it (cries) but honestly I think it's worth it. Just too sad that I don't have enough to buy better lens. Still, I'm looking forward to using this tho! Anyways, thank you so much for this video! You explained really well, simple, and basically you taught everything! Thank god I don't need to watch those long boring videos. I need to use this camera for a class tomorrow and I was afraid that I can't catch up on how to use this camera as it's my first camera ever and that I'm a total beginner (literally). But this tutorial is really helpful :D you saved my life!

    I fell in love with photography last year and got this camera yesterday! Thank you so much for helping! But I live near the beach and wanted to get close to the water, so what do I use to keep it from getting wet? (Don't have a lot of money to spend)

    • @katiejune
      @katiejune  8 років тому

      They make waterproof covers for SLR's & they're about $10 on Amazon. I do suggest though that you be very careful while at the beach. Sand gets everywhere and it can end up ruining your camera. Just don't take it out on a windy day or set it down in the sand, then you should be good! Hope this helps! 😊

    Katie, great video. Such a great tutorial and walk through of this camera. I'm looking into getting this camera as well. Just started saving myself so that I can buy it. I was looking for a camcorder but my Video Production Manager at my office told me to get away from a camcorder and get a DSLR Camera. That's when I came across this T6i. My another reason, I recently filmed my friends wedding that was held at her house. It was all last minute and didn't have time to look for a photographer. Even though I didn't own a camera but only had my phone, she was okay with that and she just wanted that special day to be captured. I did some basic edits to video and she loved it. Now her husband needs to watch it. It wasn't professional quality but she was thank that I could record her wedding for her. So that's why I want to get this camera. To film more videos and film some more UA-cam videos. So Thank you for this helpful video. I also learned that a T7i should be coming out this year. So I'll probably look into that camera and see what the newer model has.
    One question. I use a PC but would you happen to know what is a good video editing software? A few I know use an Apple computer and only know software for Apple not PC? I have Windows Movie Maker but it's a really basic edit software. I would like to do overlays on my videos and have more edit options. If you have any suggestions and affordable, please let me know. Thanks, Marty.

      marty37 I have heard that Sony Vegas is quite good for a PC. It has more to offer than windows movie maker but unfortunately I don't know much about it or what the cost would be. But I definitely recommend checking it out. 😊

      @katiejune  8 років тому

      SirSailsAlot Gaming this is great for video! If you want something that's just a little bit better, the 70D is outstanding! What makes it better is the autofocus, it's a little faster and very sharp. The T6i is still a great choice though, the autofocus is fast and quality is amazing 👌🏼 you could also try the canon g7x, it's supposed to be have DSLR quality without the bulky body. But then you can't change the lenses and be as creative with it. I definitely recommend either the T6i or 70D 😊

Your screen shows 5 on each side. Mine shows 4 on the left and 5 on the right. Thought that was kind of odd.

    So, I’ve been wanting to get this camera! Would you say it’s a much better camera than the t5?? I really need a better quality.

    • @katiejune
      @katiejune  6 років тому

      Savanna Renáe well I would say both cameras are pretty good, however the T6i is a little bit better if you’re going to use it for video because it auto focuses during video while the t5 does not. You would have to use manual focus every time. Plus there are more mega pixels with the t6i w/ 24 and the t5 is 18. And then there are just a few other things like the t6i has a flip out screen which is nice, touch screen, and it has wi-fi and the t5 does not have any of those features. But honestly both are great cameras it’s just up to you and how much you’re willing to sacrifice. When I was buying this one I looked between the t5, t6, t5i, t6i, t6s, and 70D. And I ended up choosing this one b/c it was the best quality with the most features for my money. Sorry this was so long but I hope it helps! ☺️

    For the longest time I have been trying to figure out to record and just the one little quip about basically clicking the live view button allows it to record saved my life haha. So many videos glazed over that fact and it was frustrating me. It was also my fault that I didn't notice that glaring red circle right next to the live view area.

    Really great video! I'm contemplating between a G5x or the T6i. I want the G5x for its compatibility but I feel like I should go for the T6i for the external mic option. Anyways great video! Keep up the great work!

    So what exactly does formatting your card do? Does it just delete everything there is in it?

    Hey what is the best way, going about taking a depth of field portrait shot of someone with the background being blurred and them close up from shoulder to head? What lens and Fstop should I use? thanks!

      Jason Ward Well, I'm definitely not a photographer so I don't know how much help i'll be lol but you could always use the canon 50mm lens with an f stop of 1.8, I've heard from many photographers that the 50mm lens is great for portraits b/c of the soft, blurry background. Hope this helped a little! :)
