I just recently became an Owner Operator on a Sony FS7. A cinema camera just has a different look and a different feel. Its deep its rich and its so immersive not like over sharpened hybrid cameras. A cinema camera also needs to be able to allow operator to change almost all settings offering full customization and also being able to add lots of accessories monitors, cages, mics, recorders, sdi, timecode sync. *I bought the FX30 because I wanted to do video only for my UA-cam channel and I traded in my ZV-1 & A6400 and since it's an APS-C Camera My Lens from my a6400 will work, Plus that Dual SD Slot just bought a CFExpress for it also*
This is an informative presentation. Question: Do you recommend choosing a cinema camera from certain brands such as Sony, Canon, and Red? I ask because there are older cinema cameras that can be purchased used (e.g., EVA1 and Varicam LT).
Great question. I look at the camera system that I like personally and then research if it's a camera that is popular on production shoots (corporate, commercial, narrative etc). In the last 4 years the main cameras i've owned that have gotten me a lot of work are the FS7, FX9, FX6
@@atdavidlee I appreciate your advice. It’s looking like Sony cinema cameras are in demand. As a LUMIX user, I am looking hard at investing in Sony’s or Canon’s cinema cameras!
1. I picked up my first cinema camera in 2022 after shooting on the A7sii for years. Made more business sense to make sure I future proofed myself. Plus it costs way more to build out a mirrorless to get it to do what you need it to vs a cinema style camera. 2. What website or app are you using to keep track of gear or send out gear quotes?
You can google search "sony camera finance" and replace sony with any other camera brand and you'll find the websites. Here's the sony one as reference pro.sony/ue_US/products/broadcast-zero-percent-financing

Great definition of a cinema camera and congratulations on your FS7! I had mine for years it brought a lot of value to my business.
Really like how you put this together, David! Solid points 👌
I recently bout Sony entry cinema camera the FX30. Pairing it with the helios 44-2 is the probably one of the best decisions I ever made.
