    90% of those Cons also have to do with Tip Direction, Pipe Diameter and the biggest is the height of the opening compared to the Roofline. Below roofline you will get a ton of resonance against the sheet metal. Turned Tips away from the Cab and just above the roofline cuts out on near all of the Cons. The Smoke build-up on bodywork can be reduced by not using a stupidly oversized pipe moking the smoke dribble out or creating a Draft Section to alow the exhaust to scavage free flowing air into the pipe aiding in blowing smoke well away from the Truck.

      I really learned something new! I only seen a few stacks be taller than the roofline. Not many run the angled out stacks that i have seen around here. The diamond stack was so much louder compared to the cat stack. Im guessing due to diameter.

      @@piemane possibly...it all has to do with sound resonance. Longer and Wider is Deeper to a point. Square or Rectangle makes the soundwaves bounce back and forth side to side vs directed in a pipe. Also Sound clashing into itself neutralizes itself to a degree. I personally like the Octagon Cat Pipes. Make the best sound with 5". Needs to be directed away from and slightly above the cab the keep the resonance from vibrating the Roof or Rear Glass making it annoying. Either way there will always be heard more in cab. Nature of Stacks. Same in Big Rigs.

      @@jamesrobinson5801 I want to buy some stacks for my truck and to reduce things like noise and such its best if I keep the exit above the cab? I prefer curved stacks or flat tops with tractor flaps so the water issue is not a concern.
      Edit: and I was hoping to get 5 inch stacks

    • @jamesrobinson5801

      @@Dunki113 if you are looking to reduce noise, stacks are definitely not the direction you want to go. Keep in mind, forget keeping the back half of your truck clean if yours rolls coal and anything you are Towing for that matter...if you angle the tip back and out a bit from the cab andit will help a bit. The further from the cab whether above or back away from the cab will also help with resonation. Different shape pipes resonate the frequency of the exhaust differently as well. An exhaust flap will only drive you insane once the hinge tolerance gets bad. It will just rattle none stop...

    Only thing i learned outta this was don't get crazy shaped exhaust stacks. My daddy was right, if you're gonna get stacks, just make them normal sized pipes and have the be angled (bull haulers) as for shit getting into the pipes, I literally use a couple of old Folgers coffee containers with plastic wrapped around them and it works perfectly. And as for bed space, at least on my current build, I'll be cutting into the side walls of the bed closer to the edges so I don't lose too much space and I'll probably end up making some gaskets or something to eliminate any annoying vibrations. Might get the pipes done up in black chrome or just leave em as is but I'll be going with a 4 inch pipe, maybe a 5 if I can find it and it'll be duals just cuz I like the look. Great video though man, always cool to see other people's rigs.

  • @Dunki113
    @Dunki113 Рік тому +1

    Not here to talk smack or anything just expressing myself.
    1: I put my stacks a bit taller than my cab because the exit of the stacks being closer to the back window will resonate the noise inside BUT you could slide a baffle inside your pipes to work as a muffler.
    2: I went with 5 inch stacks but if I had flat top stacks I would've used tractor flaps but with having curved stacks I use buckets to keep the rain out.
    3: depending how big of the stacks you put it'll be the same amount of bed space lost if you put a tool box.
    4: I like them
    5: people will judge you for anything you do to your truck so it's pointless to care about what they think.
    6: it's easier to see the coal in my mirrors

And cause it sounds and looks cool but I think I’m going TRUE dual 6 inch stacks. That way I can put buckets over them to keep them dry. True dual for the full effect. Will water getting in it ruin your engine?

    • @21bkier
      @21bkier 10 місяців тому +1

      Water can flood and/or rust an engine. But in order for that to happen it needs a lot of water to go all the way through the exhaust, which is a couple feet and even a 90° elbow and the water would have to travel up the downpipe coming off the turbo, which is defying gravity. So unless you completely flood the exhaust it's likes a normal exhaust on vehicles, water getting in won't hurt but completely submerging your exhaust will flood the engine
