That was absolutely fascinating. I've always wondered how those custom tops' get to fit so flush and tidy looking. I am pretty impressed at the rigorous professional attitude that guy has. Because that is quite some lengthy and complicated stuff. He really goes all out to do a real flawless job -and that is a true craftsman at work. A great upload !
Just curious about ballpark pricing.....How much would something like this cost on '71 Le Mans.....I want a convertible but this guy is selling coupe for dirt cheap.
We always see Steve Holcomb's work after he gets it completed and it was really informative being able to see the amount of work that goes into just doing a convertible top let alone the rest of a car's interior! I love seeing the projects getting built almost more than I do seeing the finished product! Thanks for shooting and sharing this video, ScottieDTV!!!
This guy is artist. It is so nice to know there are still people out there that are proud of their work and do things right for thei customers. I have seen beautiful classics like this with a poorly done convertible top and it draws my attention to it. Worth money having this guy do your top if you got the bucks.
This guy is night & day work compared to other guys in his industry,, there’s absolutely no comparison to his attention to detail thanks Scotty another great vid .PS you should put this guy‘s info up if you haven’t already

@@Geordo1960 that sounds cheap. id guess it costs more than that but what do i know. im thinking if you want to put a manual soft top what the price would be. i worked at a rental car place and if youre on a budget the most fun cars are always the smallest and convertibles. i think the problem is i dont think theres any reliable 4 door newer convertibles you can buy these days. the toyota solara doesnt have good fuel economy.

@mm-ny9ey I want to take the time to thank you for your video. This has been the BEST convertible tops install video I have ever came across on UA-cam or anywhere else. I have wanted to replace the top on my 1974 Caprice Classic for many years and just have never felt confident enough to get to it. I am a bit of a perfectionist and do not like anyone else working on anything of mine. I can do just about anything I put my mind to, but there has been such limited information I have found on all the details of the installation. After watching your video and the expertise of the gentleman doing the work, I feel a bit more confident and not only installing a aftermarket top but may even try to do a full custom top since I have purchased a industrial sewing machine to practice automotive interior upholstery. I will at the least be making my own pads because I like how these turned out. Thank you again, and I hope to see more of your videos soon.

Thanks for making this great video, taking the time to explaining all the steps during the process without annoying background music. My only question is how come the roof is not leaking where you see the visable stitches?
That is some damn fine work there. My first car was a 1966 Imperial Crown convertible. I learned top replacement by trial and error. Around 1988 or so Robbins tops quit making the bright red vinyl top my car used. If I had known this beforehand I would have brought them out just to have spares. This video does not show exactly how much trouble it is to make a top. You can order the material in bulk, but it is hard work!
Hey Scott! I'm looking to convert a 1969 Chevy Impala to a convertible. I'm honestly not sure where to go around where I live (NYC). I was just wondering if I can take the car to you?

How much to do this to a 1978 delta 88 olds convertible they didn't come with a convertible top
They just do the material part...You would have to get someone else to make it a convertible....
What's the name or kind of layers for the top?
All I know is in the video...sorry
