The song was featured in the 1988 action film Die Hard, played when the character Argyle speaks on the phone.
The song was also used in the second trailer of Grand Theft Auto V.

Always loved this video. It was very thoughtful and disturbing at the same time. Everyone has secrets from drinking, drugs, sexual abuse, and cross-dressing. It also struck me as the first time Stevie made a serious comment on how his blindness was a source of pain as a child regarding other kids. Powerful and underrated. This was a time when videos were treated like mini-movies in many cases. Loved Karen Black's performance as the alcoholic. And was that John Travolta?

An episode of "A Different World" brought me here, from season 1, episode 4. The Hillman College campus was all abuzz with the rumor that Dwayne Wayne was caught in Whitley Gilbert's dorm room after hours. "Skeletons" was playing in the background when Whitley walked into the campus diner and the students were gossiping that "supposedly" Whitley had skeletons in her closet of messing around with Dwayne Wayne. Of course, the truth came out that Whitley's "fortress" was never breached lol.

Love this video, & it is one of my favorite songs from Stevie Wonder too. & This classic throwback music video from 1987 shows us the 4 different skeletons in people's closets & plainly describes who they are: & No.# 1, We see a lady secretly being a alcoholic, No.#2, We see a guy painting his nails & cross-dressing in private. No.#3, We see a man inappropriately touching his own daughter while they're watching television & lastly. No.#4, We saw a dude that was trying to snort cocaine in the bathroom. & This video truly speaks volumes too. Excellent music video from the late 1980's, I Love It. U Go Stevie Wonder, U have truly outdone yourself with this one my friend. One of the coolest videos of all time!!!

Actually this was a really political song at the time. It's about all the BS that was going on in the early 80s with the Reagan admistration, Ollie North, Iran Contra, etc. Mostly, however, it's about the LAPD and how they became, for all intents and purposes, during this period, a paramilitary organization. They were completely out of control during this period.
