    All of my favorite authors write out short stories! Hoping there are some more of these. It's a shame we never got that car here in the USA, but it would have gotten banned as people would be quickly separating themselves from their lives. Speaking of which, I've always marveled at how so few spectators get killed in rallying considering that they are the guard rails.

    • @cmartin_ok
      @cmartin_ok 4 роки тому +2

      Rallying spectators tend to be highly knowledgeable about rallying, and know where to stand to avoid being hit by wayward cars....but with our over-zealous Health and Safety Brigade, yes it is puzzling how they have not yet shut down rallying. Let's hope we can all enjoy our rallying for many years to come

    I led a team of guys at JQF engineering in Towcester England, we converted the cars( the balance of the 200 built for homologation) to road car versions and I unfortunately had to test drive each car, a great experience. JQF also built most of the engines, each engine had to be Dyno tested and results supplied to the new owner of each car. This was way back in the mid eighties.

They were leaders in fibreglass and composite technology back in the day - a lot of their trade was supplying various industries with moulded composite products. It made good financial sence for Ford to outsource the bodywork to a company that had the expertise and capacity to quickly deliver.

    Great video for a great car! Too bad we never got these in the US. Then again, we also didn't get the cool Escorts. How many of the road-going variants are still around? For that matter, how many of the actual Rally models are still out there? I never knew how the drivetrain was set up, but it just sounds incredibly complex. How much did the transmission weigh that it made better sense to be separated by several feet from the engine?

      @@residentelect Yeah I actually looked at a 1.3L near me as a cheap runabout only the other week, but they want nearly a grand for it. I think they're nice little cars but not for that money. I didn't start driving til the late 90's but had a HC Viva instead the usual Saxo, 205 or Corsa. Now that really stood out.

    Facts: @3:00 he explains the two epic crashes, that’s true. I JUST NOW found both videos mentioned on UA-cam.
    It shows the one car slam the crowd from mid-range and bad quality. The other video… Clearly shows him SLAMMING a tree, and the car BURST INTO FLAMES.
    Gave me goosebumps bc it reminds me of the Paul walker crash, yet the driver survived the fiery blaze in the mentioned video where the co-pilot died.

    My humble opinion is that this format has potential. It'll also allow you to cover car stories that are interesting, but just don't warrant a full length video. It felt like you were rushing through the script though, maybe switch back to your usual, comforting delivery for the next one? Keep up the good work, I've enjoyed your channel ever since you released the very first video!

    Man, this car is bad to the bone, what a little monster! Shitty about the bad luck that followed it with the deaths and crashes. They should've started with a 4 cylinder bigger than a 1.8 liter and a compound turbo setup to overcome that low end lag.

    Whilst I don't think you should give up the longer format vids - as I learn something I did not know on each one, I do feel you might be onto something with a shorter format. I have said it before and no doubt will say it again - you deserve a lot more subscribers as your videos really stand out. Both in terms of content and presentation. Perhaps run the two formats side by side to see which proves more popular? I shall watch both as always.

    • @BigCar2

      These short videos take maybe 1/3 of the time of the longer videos, so I'm hoping I can do both and get more content out. The issue is in making it clear they're a separate thing. I'll continue to do the longer format videos as I enjoy creating the scripts and going a little more in depth.
