Excellent Saturn port, highly enjoyable even with the joypad. Lower resolution/framerate and fewer effects were expected since Model 2 hardware is much much better than Saturn and this is an advanced game in terms of graphics.
@ it's impressive to see how close a bad 3D console comes in terms of what it does on a supposedly good 3D console .....if i follow your reasoning, sincerely when I compare the games of the PS1 and the Saturn is not for the 3D capabilities of Saturn that i will question ...
I'll agree that the visuals took a real kick in the taint since compared to the Arcade, the Saturn wasn't the best with 3D visuals, but i also do blame Sega having a third party developer do the port and have it rushed, instead of taking their time and developing the port themselves (Like with Virtua Fighter 2, still downgraded graphics, but they still looked and ran good.) But i still love this port of the game, was the first Import game i bought (Cause i sure as dick ain't paying over $100 for the U.S. version)
The one thing I will say is that while the Arcade has way better textures, the music from the sega saturn sounds a lot more clear than the arcade, and the screen doesn't flash all the time. That's about all it has going for it.
Why taking a different path in a comparison... LOL Anyway, this is a perfect port. Graphics have been downgraded to fit the Saturn but the game remains unchanged. All the gameplay elements are present. All the enemies, all the events are here. A few missing visual effects here and there? Who cares. Just like there's a missing parallax scrolling in a 2D game, it's not affecting the gameplay. Awesome game and so were the second and third on Dreamcast and Xbox.

The studio behind Sega Saturn port of this game had rush the game so it wasn't truly the best and only home port. Game suffers in framerate and graphics.
There's something about the Saturn port that's so appealing, but I can't put my finger on it. If the Saturn port were smoother (Yes, I know the game was rushed.), that'd be my decision. But for now, it's Arcade. Great game either way, though.
The thing I hate the most about the Saturn port is how much it slows down. It just doesn't run as well as virtua cop 1 and 2 which were smooth as butter on the Saturn. Other than that and the graphics, I still think It's a great game on the Saturn.
I feel like this was a game that should have released on the dreamcast instead of the Saturn. The Saturn was more for 2D and it could have given them more time to polish up the game and add the better textures instead of the placeholder ones.

RowJoe47 Yep, Killer Instinct was never meant to be on a 16-bit system like the Super NES. Killer Instinct could have been a great launch title for the Nintendo 64 if it hadn't been delayed. Another lousy port was Cruis'n USA. Killer Instinct on the Super NES looks incredible compared to Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the Super NES though.
The Saturn version was doomed from the beginning. It looks like shit because it was made in the US and not even FINISHED. If the VC1 and 2 team had made it, it woukd have looked 1000 times better. Without that green blood bullshit, too! IF it used the amazing tools AM2 created, the team sure as hell did not know how to USE them! Just compare the VC2 Saturn port to this. It was not even released in Japan for months after the rest of the world had it. Sadly, it was not "fixed" before it was released either. SEGA US also rushed an incomplete SEGA Rally and Daytona Championship Edition to market. The Japanese versions are the completed versions. I was initially annoyed that I had to wait longer for the Jp version as I had a Jp Saturn, but in the end it was worth the wait!
I'd say for that to be true the port should be extremely unfaithful but since the Saturn version has pretty much everything from the arcade, not to mention being fun to play, I'd disagree.
The Saturn version looks very bad, the fans really weren't kidding afterall. While i tried to beat the full game of the port, i ended up feeling nauseous and some motion sickness as i stare at the low resolution surroundings. It does not age well from the beginning. The Saturn isn't really designed for accurate arcade port except for Sega Rally
@@paulolameiras861 Of course not, the model 2 surpasses all consoles of this generation, but when we see the game ports of Virtua Cop 1 and 2, it proves that without reaching the level of the model 2, the Saturn is capable of much than this port.

Rap Lawyer too bad reality majorly tells otherwise, and the most technical 3d ps1 games outshine anything on Saturn. On paper it might be more powerfull, but if its almost impossible to get it to work properly whats the purpose really, just a waste of energy and materials. The 3d hardware on saturn was just a mess, its dumb when people try to defend it, just think of those poor 'lazy' programmers who have to create miracles to make it work. And then, many 3d ps1 games can even hang with n64 games, and imo the most technically impressive game on ps1 'Terracon' puts all n64 and Saturn games too shame. And that is a reality and not a vague wish of some narrowminded fanboy. 'Do not underestimate the power of Playstation.'
@@robertojaketti7370 It's a shame to have such limited knowledge on a console that you claim to love. The PS1 is not a powerful console, well thought out, homogeneous, easy to understand, intuitive for a developer and quite good overall yes but that's it. Except that it has no perspective corrector, unstable polygons, bad anti-aliasing, cannot display an infinite plane and a resolution lower than the Saturn. So yes it can generate very nice graphic effects which are cheerfully used to hide poor graphic quality and bland colors but there is no obvious difference between PS1 games and those of Saturn or N64.

I dont care if ut has flaws, hasnt everything... still a crackin game on saturn.
Arcade looks like 480p Saturn looks like 120p
I dunno why, but arcade is always better
RowJoe47 Yep, Killer Instinct was never meant to be on a 16-bit system like the Super NES. Killer Instinct could have been a great launch title for the Nintendo 64 if it hadn't been delayed. Another lousy port was Cruis'n USA. Killer Instinct on the Super NES looks incredible compared to Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the Super NES though.
You have to know that this doesn't apply to Time Crisis II.
lumlee It definitely apply to time crisis one
Saturn has better music but Arcade is better overall
"Others are still inside. Save them."
Some of the sound is crunchier and lower bitrate on the Saturn, it sounds like. >:(
There is side to side
I downloaded it yesterday in windows 10
and no blood on the floor at beginning. so it's also the cut version. Arcade=uncut. Uncut wins
This game is not am2.
Am1game
I was initially annoyed that I had to wait longer for the Jp version as I had a Jp Saturn, but in the end it was worth the wait!
sega best game on ARCADE
ARCADE best hardware
I think all the Sega arcade machines is better
Saturn version was really poor, terrible load times ruined it
didnt prevented me from playing it to death and memorizing every movement ;D
Not to mention, it seems as if the bosses on the Saturn port are significantly harder than on the arcade version... and yes, I played it with a gun.
Conversus W. Vans
The arcade version has difficulty settings in the test menu y'know
One of the worst arcade to console ports ever.
Arcade 🏆
Not a terrible port, considering saturn hardware.
A bad one considering Saturn hardware you mean ?
I meant what i said. Are you honestly comparing Saturn hardware to Model 2???
@@paulolameiras861 Of course not, the model 2 surpasses all consoles of this generation, but when we see the game ports of Virtua Cop 1 and 2, it proves that without reaching the level of the model 2, the Saturn is capable of much than this port.
@@ciredecgellar8232 Virtua Cop games were indeed even better ports, but when you compare this one to Daytona USA... It's all a matter of perspective :p
@@paulolameiras861 Daytona USA was an early port ... The house of the dead released in 1998 ... so, you are an indulgent person ;)
Porque????
sega Arcade
Bad port. I know that Sega was rushed this game to market becuase of the final games released for the Saturn in NA but this looks horrible. It could be so much better
pedazo de juego
The saturn runs slower it looks like
In saturn is so cool
TheSUPRASURTR arcade is way better but i guess for a machine with limited 3d capabilities the saturn version is very good, it seems to capture the essence of the game
So yes it can generate very nice graphic effects which are cheerfully used to hide poor graphic quality and bland colors but there is no obvious difference between PS1 games and those of Saturn or N64.
what games are very equal
but I prefer the arcade version
lejos mejores graficos el arcade de sega.
