I drove through Port Deposit in December 2018, on my way from DC to Philly (avoiding the toll roads). I had started before dawn and the sun had only only just risen high enough to beam down on the river as I crossed it then turned left and entered the town. I thought I'd suddenly been thrown back in time. It was quiet and no one was out. The light seemed almost ethereal. I was tempted to pull over and just wander around. If it weren't for the cars dotted here and there in driveways and parking lots I really would have thought I was in the 1930's.
Good luck... I drive through on my way from another small town, Red Lion, PA, to some of the Maryland shore destinations, and always love driving down your Main Street... it's such a quaint town with such rich history!
@@spellbinder933 I think they mean the part of the town closer to the dam. It is less traveled and doesn't have the restaurants, so I think SQ is afraid they will focus more on the center of the town and not as much on the historic homes a few blocks away.
The charm of the town was ruined when they built those huge condos right on the water. They could have put them up on the hill. But then since the town is historic I guess they expect all the house owners to do a proper historic renovation on the old houses and not cover them in the same junky plastic siding with fake brick veneer as the new townhouses. Well the old houses are rented out to low life trashy people and what that town needs is a full time drug rehab center. The town itself is a cross between a Western ghost town and an inbred West Virginia mining town. It is an interesting place to sit for a while and is either charming and quiet or full of biker gang people for the dock bar. And after observing life there for a few minutes you can see the locals going about their business either tweeking or looking for a fix. It is really sad that nobody has enough interest to buy those houses and fix them. Same with the whole Navy complex on the hill. Well made stone buildings left for vandals to trash just like the town. And there are other close by attractions like a crab shack for bikers, a trailer park, and even a swingers club. And I forgot the best for poor people with no money a casino!
I love driving through and looking at all those beautiful old buildings in that little town. I would love to see them fixed up.

I was just through there and absolutely loved it! I can't wait to go back and take a nice walking tour and see the museums

I went fishing on a boat and saw this cool town
Yeah please the town is dying and falling apart......so many historic homes.
I hope you win, but don't forget the North end.
Where is the North end?
