WONTON NOODLES! Indian Chinese Street Food in CHINATOWN Kolkata India
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 тра 2018
- Ever since arriving in India I was told that I must try some Indian Chinese food which is quite different than the typical Chinese food I've had all my life. So I went to Chinatown in Kolkata India to try some dumplings, noodles and spicy chicken.
The Chinatown in India was not what I expected, mainly because there were not that many Chinese people. Also the food does taste like a very unique mix of Indian and Chinese cuisine.
We first went to Territy Bazar which is in Chinatown and it's a market that is open very very early and closes soon as the food is sold out.

I love how he really visited actual street food locations unlike other youtubers who went to five star restraunts and said they had the "street food"
This is not street food. Street food is what is served on the street. This is more off the track atleast for the wonton noodle soup. The prices they paid is pretty dear too for food.
@@loveearoma didn't he just ate at the street where the dumplings and other stuff were served? i think you just shot yourself in the foot
lol I know right
Uh ppl don't rly say that
People tend to confuse we people in the northeast of india don't actually eat noodles and dumplings, we eat rice. In fact, every state in the NE eats rice with dal and 6 noodles and dumplings.
within north east it also very diverse
People near to Tibet border have noodle base dish like thukpa and steamed dumplings like momo in the state Sikkim and western arunachal
I know about Rice, but Daal???
Do all NE states eat daal??
@@mercedesbenz3751 yes most of us eat daal
@@mercedesbenz3751,
We even eat bread too
@@mercedesbenz3751 yes most of us eat rice
Indian-Chinese cuisine is by far the best marriage between two cuisines.
Fizzy, its fermenting,no bad thing.
amen to that
Preach!
I want to visit Chinatown at Kolkata
Southeast Asia is full of those influences!
It’s funny how he claps his hands when he likes the food.
ok
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
👏
I bang table with one hand 😅😅
Healthy and happy people enjoy such moments...Lucky ones..😭,but im vv unlucky as im extremely sick and alone ,have lost everything....Leave it..Enjoy all f u

The integration of Chinese and Indian culture in Kolkata is just wholesome and amazing.
Just the fact that you tried the street food deserves massive respect!
Hope you actually loved the food out there!
There is a lot of tension at the border but It's beautiful when two cultures come together.
India is shit straight up shit
@@starinovkula1893 really? Better than whatever shithole you live in. Have some basic manner and decency before commenting on other cultures. We are a developing country, and we are trying our best to develop after years of fucking colonization.

Mike you really hit the right food spots. You are an afficinado on authentic chinese food but remember that there were a lot of Chinese in India for centuries and hence the Chinese food in India (Kolkata) will have Indian influence. This Indian chinese food is only found in Kolkata because of the chinese population (now dwindling). I was surprised you didn't find anyone that speaks Mandarin because people still do speak in Mandarin over there. The Chinese own leather tanneries in Kolkata and lots of shoe shops owned by them at bentick street.
We have Chinese food here in Shillong too and probably more authentic as we eat beef and pork than you guys.
@Gargee Basak The only mainland Indians I know that consume pork are Goan Keralite and some southern Christian communities. Most muslims will eat beef anyway. I'm surprised to know that Bangla eat both. The Bangla community here in Shillong don't eat beef and rarely eat pork but loves fish and white meat.
@Gargee Basak I respect people's choice of diet and I get it its mainly due to religion and culture. The best seafood I must say its Goan cuisine and when it comes to red meat Meghalaya is delicious as everything is fresh here. I however, hates mutton and will never eat nor touch it along with dairy products haha.
@@shngain100 dog is also a delicacy in NE india which I'd love to try one day..
@@yoginc You don't need to come to NE, you can kill any stray dog in your colony and voila make it your home cook dog curry.
i like the clapping to review the food instead of noises or words. It's a refreshingly simple way to know if the food is good
4:51 the kid slaps his friend XD
The food looks good too
🤣🤣
Your observation 👌
It's "tapli"
Wow, I went from India to China and never had to leave my couch. Thank you 🙏

Nice Video :) Kolkata street food Just Won The Title of India’s Best Street Food Hub . It May look dirty but everyday lakhs of people are eating kolkata street food , lunch breakfast snacks and they are not dying , Cheap and best .
@Mr. B you feel so when you live in west of india for decades....but kolkata is nice especially people.
@Chow Rajaa funnily, opposite is my experience there.
@Chow Rajaa Your environment is a reflection of your mind.
Basic rule for street food: Eat when its hot!!
Its extremely dirty. I am originally from kolkata now live elsewhere. Whenever I visit i get stomach problems. And I never ever eat street food in Kolkata. Very sad state of affair. Countries like Thailand, Vietnam etc are poorer than India but I never had food poisoning there.
Thanks for visiting my hometown I was so hoping and praying u will visit and have a go at the Hakka food brings back some amazing memories
Can I ask u a question? Is ur ethnicity Chinese or Indian?
@@chadlee870 dude they are mostly Hakka and some are canton

I could suggest some articles to u
I wonder why they don't return to China or go elsewhere to greener pastures? I heard there is discrimination plus, India isn't developing at the rate China is.

Kolkata has a fantastic and fascinating food scene but the municipal corporation must work hard to improve the infrastructure in the city.

I don't know if it's still there, but when I lived in Ottawa there was a restaurant called Haveli. We adored it! We went to a lot of wonderful buffet brunches there. The staff would talk to you and find out what "heat" intensity you liked, and made sure you knew exactly what you were eating. We would eat ourselves into a food coma. Then Dad would have to get us all out to the car and drive us home, where we would collapse across our beds and moan. There would be NO mention of dinner on those days.
What was really nice about the Sunday brunch days was seeing all the nationalities crammed into the restaurant. Haveli was so good, that the diplomatic community (Ottawa, Canada's capital!) would flock there with their families for brunch.
Sandra Nelson haveli is actually a chain type restaurant
We have chain of haveli restaurant in india. Its amazing

Aao kabhi haveli pe. ..
Sorry I couldn't resist
Do you remember where in Ottawa Haveli was?
FYI theses are people of Chinese origin who settled in India
These are Tibetan not chinese FYI

Vinsmoke They are real Chinese, that's why its called Chinatown.

His friend looked so happy when Mike said he loved the food. Thats what its all about!!
I love this channel because he eats all these incredible things I may never get to try in places I may never go. I can't imagine complaining about the state of the streets or the dirt or whatever when I have no idea what it's like to live there. The experience is too cool to sweat the small stuff anyhow.
life is hard, but the food is good. India is still a developing country.
You have an amazing attitude. Bless you.
It's not very expensive to come to India... You're always welcome
I follow about 10 food channels, and I always notice how the views and subscriber account increase exponentially after trying authentic Indian food in India..it's no coincidence, Indian food is the best in the WORLD!
It's probably because India has a population of 1.3 billion people who are proud of their country and food and enjoy when someone approaches them with an open mind and appreciates them.
Not every one realize what level of food and fusion Kolkata can give you.. happy to see you enjoying out there. !!
I'm from Kolkata & I didn't Know about this....So I'm gonna try this asap....😍.. thanks for the information 😍
Lol
I travelled from Guwahati to Chinatown just to try authentic Chinese food.
@Gargee Basak How can I reach to this place-Ah Leung??
@Gargee Basak I am asking for the place called Ah Leung which is hard to find normally
This is not china town actually. Topsia area is considered china town. This place is called Terreti Market. Its near sealdah. You can get an auto from Sealdah station. But consider getting their a little early. Pretty much everything is gone by 6:30 - 7:00.
Always a pleasure to see you've posted, enjoying the travel series, Mikey. Hi to the foodie friends looking after you and India being awesome. Thanks for sharing. 😙

One of the best videos of yours I have seen so far. Thanks for sharing 👍
How do you keep so fit with the amount of food you eat in these blogs?
Thanks, my grandpa must have walked these streets. Hope to visit one day
This looks like a great food experience. How you compare street food versus home cooked semi Chinese food. One thing I observed about Chinese food that Chinese food always develop a local version and that version becomes popular in the same country. But funny thing about local Chinese food is that when you take some Chinese visitors to the local Chinese restaurant boosting about how we like Chinese food in our country and our Chinese guest were always confused and failed to understand that why we are calling this strange food as Chinese that they also fail to recognize.
happens with every country, italians hate american italian foods, indians hate british indian food and so on and so forth.
hammad shakil
That doesn't make any sense
nikhil bastian what doesn't

How can you say that an indian doesn't like Brit food?

I live vicariously through you as I'm on a keto diet. Thank you for showing me the goods!
This comment is so much related to 'tool'
Lol I am doing keto too and I can tell you most of these dishes can be made following keto (I am from India )
Dumplings can be made with arrow root powder coconut flour and pislam husk mix stuff with pork fish or chicken as you wish
For fried dishes I use ghee or mustard oil
Love how Mikey's just devouring four different dishes at once and the dude beside him is barely halfway through his own noodles
