This is a truly nostalgic piece with deep sense of sentiment and open song. It's generally believed that Sibelius piano music is less good than orchestra and concert jobs. While his tone poems, symphony and selected concertos are a bulk of masterworks and he's not a natural piano master like Chopin or Schubert or Schumann or Debussy, there's quite a good crunch of great piano music in his production like this piece you played tonight (very well btw)
I'm so glad to hear your interpretation of this work,as I played it a few months ago, the way you play it creates a notion of movement, which is well embodied with the imagery of nature :)
thanks! i listened to the awesome Paul Barton recording and knew how i want it to sound, it says Lente, but i really don't like when it drags too much. there are clear phrases hear
The title of this sublime page from Sibelius is curious. Perhaps the plant was associated with the transcendent Christmas atmosphere, but then strange did not call it "The Christmas Tree". Certainly the link is there, even if not specified. And then our thoughts turn to Rebikov's other piano masterpiece, with the same title and in the magical interpretation of Shura Cherkassky

By mobilizing the Russian people to force Vladmir Putin (the Devil incarnate) to stop the brutal killings, torturing & rape of innocent civilians, women & even new borns in Ukraine. Putin is destroying the Russian people's reputation in the world & this evil monster must be stopped. This was an unprovoked war by an evil little man without a soul, and he is doing it in the name of the Russian people. 🇺🇦 ❤️ ✌️ ☮️
I love the sound of those major 7 chords
very effective here i agree
Sibelius uno dei Grandi compositori del 900!!!! Bellissimo... Grande interpretazione bravissimo.
Thx for playing one of my favorite pieces.
my son plays it with lots of pleasure too
Very beautiful interpretation. You land on each chord and savour the harmony just long enough. You have understood Sibelius' intention.

Medtner ahh harmony
I think the right translation of this piece is "spruce" (épicéa in French and not sapin )
Yes, the piece is known either as Le Sapin or The Spruce
хорошо, что кроме мира людей, существует еще мир музыки. а иначе, как в этом мире выживать.

Oh this is the only piece I have played before you introduce in your channel :)
I realised that this piece is quite famous indeed:)
It's almost a jazzy piece with these harmonies. Ahead of his time.
Reminds the melody "Le temps des Cathédrales"
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
Truly an awesome piece :) actually my most viewed video, more than Liszt!
uh, interesting:)
What does sapin mean here?
It means spruce 🌲
You know this is a popular piece, right?
yes, i saw that there are some videos about it, especially the great performance by paul barton
Didn't know he wrote piano pieces.
I feel like a core part of Studio Ghiblis music can be traced back to Sibelius.
Interesting. Do you have any examples in mind?
