just one of the many Stereophonics lyric videos i am doing. a classic originally sung by Rod Stewart. please subscribe to see more upcomeing videos. :-)
so i heard this constantly when i was a kid in my dads car, ALWAYS BLARING :) he unfortunately died and i hadn't heard it since then, until once i was in my friends car, on the way to a disco and it was on the radio .. never cried so hard in my life
It's good to have something to remember by and theres no shame in shedding a tear it's also a good example of a cover overshadowing the original without disrespecting it
@cardiff4ever346 Yeah, I just listened to Rods version, and you're right. The guy in the Stereophonics could sing in a Faces tribute band... he sounds so much like Rod.
@@SEBASTIV no i don't know him but he sounds great...just one thing Sebastian, when you're on the phone can you keep the pig impersonations down to a minimum? lol
What a voice. Makes me proud to be Scottish 🏴 Also a fellow Celtic fan 💚 Respect ✊🏼 Great song I’d listen to it with my Father (bless his soul) Still listening in 2023 for us both Dad ❤🏴
Makes you proud to be Scottish??? It was written by an Englishman (Mike D'Abo, former lead singer of Manfred Mann) and originally recorded by Chris Farlowe (another Englishman) and this particular version is by a Welsh Group. Just because Rod Stewart had a hit with it, doesn't make it Scottish!
@@wesleykerslake8203 And anyway how ridiculous to be "proud" to be of the same nation as one individual who happens to have a voice you like, as if that had anything to do with where they were born or what passport they held. Would you be "proud" if you discovered you had the same birthday or blood group? Great example of how nonsensical patriotism is! 🤣
@@Flipdrivel - Patriotism is nonsensical? There never has been a greater need for it! No wonder you're losing your country to a certain type of immigrants!! Scotland just escaped by the skin of its teeth after that lunatic's recent resignation.
Im listening to this and going right back to my childhood. Going to rhyl with my family when the place used to be fun and spending quality time with my family. Why do we have to grow up?
AWESOME!! AMAZING!!! I used to play the original by The Faces as a Deep Cut when I was on the air, now it's a HIT, and SO BEAUTIFUL! NO other band could have pulled this off! Keep up the GREAT work!
it's stripped you *of* not *off* ; most of the lyrics segue into the chorus. so what the singer is saying is "they stripped you of the handbags and the gladrags that your poor old grandad had to sweat to buy you"
Considering this is a lyric video, I think that accuracy is something that people would care about. No one cares about you trying to be edgy on the internet, but you don’t see us complaining.
I forgot about this song until recently on my local radio station they do a topical tune relating to a story in the news and you have to choose a song that fits it best and this was my choice one day and they choose it as the topical tune.
This song is about legacy. It's about recognising the sacrifice of precious generations and how we take it for granted or accept it as "normal"these days. If we don't defend it, it will be lost. Follow this with Viva La Vida and consider our nations legacy (UK). Time to take back the reigns, or loose the race to oblivion.... our choice.... your choice...
Wow! I've been after this song for fukin ages, and for the life of me, couldn't remember the words for this song, I could always remember the music but finally!

Heard this on the raido coming back to my house in a taxi from airport after missing my flight to Manchester to watch the United and Brentford by 2 mins I’ll come back here to see this comment in years to come of a reminder of the game that finish 3-0 to us up the reds
You are beautiful son i'm 58 have 2 boys and i hope they will have a heart like yours always. May life lead you to him who is perfection of love and goodness and a home in heaven at the end : Peace John 3:16
I like Rod Stewart's rendition best. This has a noticeably slower tempo. I heard it first on a K-Tel album of 70s Hits along with Aretha Franklin. Bread, and a slew of other artists of the era. To me, the music was one of the best things about the 70s.
@grahamives Well done that man! i have just turned 60 and remember Manfred Mann and Mike d'Abo to say nothing of Chris Farlowe who i remember listening to in those early days that produced such Brilliant singers and musicians.

The Office was still an absolute classic tv series though!!!!
One of the greatest ballads of all time, with such great music accompaniment with the piano, horns, flute, oboe.....this version and Rod's, both.
This IS Rod.

Mike D'Abo wrote it in 1967, and produced the version that Chris Farlowe did. He then arranged the version that Rod Stewart covered in 1969.
