The Brits were the GREATEST at copying Americans who invented rock and roll by blending the music of African-Americans and the Scots-Irish hill-folk. They were true fans of the real, original stuff, and then they got to sell that American stuff to the Americans. Geniuses. Even the Beatles copied The Beach Boys ... to extend their career past the bubblegum era.
Hearing Kelly Jones singing beside one of the most iconic voices ever makes you realize how fucking good Kelly Jones actually is. Like I knew he was good, Stereophonics is one of my top 5 bands ever but my god, effortless
@@kimharris3491Luciddreamer The first released version of the song was by Chris Farlowe in 1967, and later interpretations by Rod Stewart (1969) and Stereophonics (2000)
Always liked the message of this Mike D'Abo song. The hard work or your parents and grandparents helped get you to where you are and give you what you got. Please take the time to look beyond material things -- and learn, understand and appreciate where you come from.
You said that right it's good to know the meaning of the song I for one appreciate how I was brought up there was 7 kids and no we didn't have a lot but never went without neither now I'm a mum myself and the values that were put on to us I did the same as my mum done with us and sadly she is nolonger with us and my son is nearly 40 and I would like to think I've done my best with him as his dad wasn't ready to be a dad until he was a lot older but sadly my son chose not to have anything to do with him or his family because they denied him for so long and he was a grown up and old enough to make his own mind up he also said that I did the hard work and they should have thought about it years earlier but he works knows his manners and lives his life to the full and that is thanks to my mum and my nana with the way I was brought up
Could. Not. Love. This. More. A deep cut I used to play on the air is a hit thanks to these lads. And the original voice of The Faces joining them. I'd have paid a hefty price to be in that room.
I first heard it with Rod Stewart singing it and it pierced my heart ❤ as my family were immigrants from Ireland and that's exactly what my grandma did for a living. She made handbags. After listening to his version and the sentiment in it. No one compares because he touched my ❤️ the way he sings it like no other artists could. Food for thought 🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🍀
Fricking brilliant song and the fact rod is singing it with the great Stereophonics love it and thanks to the person who put this up great and love it so thanks again
Two great voices, but there is no beating Rod Stewarts voice. What a privilage it must have been to sing with Rod Stewart 👏 Kelly Jones does have a beautiful voice but Rods voice is the best ever 💯
The legendary voice supported by the voice that sounds like him during his early days. Well done to both! Would be absolutely amazing to get a new album of you both singing together!
Yeah put them together I as you know what we'd ask the two to sing together With a mix of a violin & a few more acoustic instruments just imagine what an album we would get For starters with this gem & a couple of Rod's couple Stereophonic tracks then some of Dylan's
A great song done by a great rocker, A great band covers it gives it to a new generation of fans ( the office helped too) and then these 2 legends do it together. Perfect!!!! Love Rod Love the Phonics!!!
Surly, one of the most important songs of my youth. It always brought a tear to my eye, and hearing it bringing together generations just about has me balling my eyes out. Thank you so much.
Goodness me, there are too many arguments going on over this... A great duet between singers of different generations. Rod clearly is proud of the boy's cover. I think their voices fit well together. Both are raspy and charismatic. Kelly sits a bit more prominent, for me, because of the sincerity in his voice. Yet there's always an edge to what he's singing.
Am amazed how alike they sound, close your eyes it’s really hard to tell which one is singing? Was a brilliant cover by Sterophonics, had to tell my children what “ gladrags” were!😂😂😂😂
I did not know who wrote it, but my favorite Rod Stewart song by a country mile. When i was 17 I would spend hours in the teen club in Wilson, NC, and there were certain songs they played over and over again. This was one of them. So many memories are tied up in this song
@@thomasdbrady3696 your lung capacity and strength decreases after a VERY young age. I can't sing like I could even 10 years ago. I used to free dive too.
Doesn't matter. The main thing is that rod and kelly actually got together! I've always thought that Kelly could, and actually has the 'rod' voice. He proved it here, and I'm sure that rod was transported back to his 70's high days, on hearing kelly sing. A great combination of gravelly voices :)
Well I loved it...KMA! I bet I have listened to Rod longer than any of you and I love his voice and this beautiful song. Why not listen to the words and enjoy Rod's sweet delivery. Thanks Rod!!!
This takes me back to when I left school 17 years ago at the age of 15, the next day I went and got a job on a building site and this was on the radio every hour or so
This is a sublime example of why British music is completely and utterly the very best in the world .

Waldo Is Here ......and Kelly is a darn sight easier on the eye than Stewart.
Me too. I’m stunned by how much better his voice is. Fantastic..
Brilliant xx
Kelly Jones is GOD
How about Ricky Gervais version. of course the theme tune to the sitcom The Office.
wow.who ever thought of putting them together deserves a medal. What a duet
It was Rods song lol

My god, what a beautiful voice Kelly has, such an underrated artist
Kelly Jones has never been underrated
I don’t know why you don’t rate him.
Rod Stewart should be Lord Stewart for all he has done for music over many years, a genius.
I think RS is great, but not sure he should be a Lord.
Definitely a sir
Steward is just too good to be a Lord. He just isn’t part of the system/problem.
A genius??..🤣
not only his contribution to music but helping others to get on to the music ladder just as he was helped.
Rod is so classy....the true definition of artist....unselfishly timeless..
Hi would love to know what you think of my 17 year old grandsons cover of this ua-cam.com/video/T7Emz268Dio/v-deo.html
Imma check it out
Nice jacket too
I always think he looks like an idiot definitely not classy
Stewart has paved the way for so many muso’s who have the heart to accept empathy
Love how Rod owned the fact stereophonic version was Absolutey Amazing .Love Rod for this x
Two of the best singers ever. Rod and Kelly ❤ Rod was my Dads era and Stereophonics is mine. Grew up listening to both.
Awesome reply
That's exactly what my son said & now he's 42
Would have been better with Chris Farlowe.

Great clip, Rod as professional as ever and a very generous partner in this duet 👍👍⭐️⭐️
What a great duet from two great performers singing live doing a fantastic cover of an incredible song.
