    When i did this swap, to run fuel pump, i just grabbed a pink wire with the black tracer (several to choose from) that is keyed power and ran it to the fuel pump relay in place of the green wire with white tracer and it works pefect.

    You can use a remote tps sensor and use whatever you want for a carb.

    i did the swap on my 93 suburban 350 back in may been driving it to work everyday ..had to adjust and change a few things but its going very well my only issue is i wasnt sure where to set my timing its currently set at 12 degrees BTDC with no vacuum could be wrong but it runs fine with good power starts right up tranny shifts like normal and runs cool even with ac blasting ...i did this all myself from start to finish so i can surely give some answers to any questions if needed ..i used the holly carb tps bracket. edelbrock intake. holly fuel regulator set at 7psi and a new stock distributor i got all my parts from summit i was scared to death to try this change but once all the wiring made sense to me it was nothing

    Howdy, I heard you say that you couldn't find any carb with a throttle position sensor other than holley. You know the q-jets that gm usedin the 80s had them, and those were good reliable carbs.

    I have a 94 GMC Sierra 1500 long bed with a 4.3. it's automatic and had a 4l60e trans. Had to put a trans in it when I got it, which I actually drugg it out of a field after it sat for 7 years, lol. So the trans went out again, exploded the 3/4 clutch pack, so I decided to try what many online said was gonna be so difficult. I put a completely nonelctronic 700r4 in it. After figuring out what I needed to it was really pretty simple. I didn't hookup the lockup because it's not needed. And ran a detent cable and ghetto rigged a stub in the throttle body plate using a bolt and two nuts and I was done. It takes driving for almost a half hour for the engine light to even kick and when I turn off the switch and restart I have no light. So I have a 350 on the engine stand that I'm gonna build and I was thinking about trying the next step and putting a fully carburated 350 in it. Any advice? And a tip for folks watchin this video. If you've done a trans swap to a nonelctronic trans like me then u can run any carb u want because you will no longer need the tps sensor because your gas pedal will now be linked to your transmission via the detent cable you installed. So goodbye TPS. Just a tip.

    Thanks for showing this. I just bought a 94 with about 387,000 on the entire harness is hacked beyond belief; replacement will cost about $700 or between $300 and $1300 to refurbish. That alone negates keeping TBI. Did you have to do anything special to keep cruise or just the new bracket? All gauges work?

    You don't actually have to have a throttle position sensor I've run old quadrajets and I've run Edelbrock on the same truck and as far as a pressure regulator you can just run a tee off from the existing fuel line run one line of that tea to the input of your car run the other one back to your tank and then between the t in the fuel tank on the return line at a hose clamp tighten that hose clamp until your carburetor gets the right amount of fuel you can let the truck sit there and run and slowly pinch that line off until I get too much fuel and then slowly loosen the clamp back up until you get the perfect and then you're all set to go these trucks are so easy to convert just got to run that wire to turn on that fuel pump and a hose clamp works for a great pressure regulator all you need is a carburetor adapter plate or carburetor intake a piece of gas line or use the existing return line a hose clamp and maybe a short piece of wire it's so cheap and simple it's not funny it took my dad almost two years to figure out how to do this back before it was a popular mod but he's just a backyard mechanic I looked at it for 10 minutes and figured it out and he drove his truck like that for the last 6 years and then I helped him do the same thing to his best friend's truck if he's been driving his truck for the last 5 years I put a factory quadrajet on my dad's and I put an Edelbrock 600 on his buddies truck

    • @alanwylie8960

      You need at least a 670 cfm carburetor for a stock 350, as for the Vortec 350 engines, 96 to 2002 with the vortec heads, I'd recommend at least a 700 cfm carburetor. Holley has a article on their website that explains everything you need to know about what size carburetor you need for specific engines. On the old 87 to 95 Chevy 350 TBI engines with the General Motors cluster-f'ked swirl heads will probably do fine with a 600 cfm carburetor.

However, at the time, this was my friend’s truck, he was getting the parts, and went against my recommendation on 3 main components: the headers, the intake, and the Carb. 670 quadrajet, spread-bore intake, and any headers that wouldn’t rust. He went with the opposite on all 3.

    Hey I got a question. I'm doing the swap on my 90 sierra using a 95 suburban 5.7. What wire did you use to supply your distributor with power. I'm thinking probably the red wire that went to the coil. Also when I turn my key on my fuel pump kicks on. Do I need that blue wire still hooked up to the tach spot on the distributor to keep the fuel pump running or would I have to worry about it since my fuel pump is already coming on. I have everything hooked up but it'll start up but then it dies even with me giving it gas with the throttle on carb. It's kinda sounding like it's running out of gas. I'm just curious if it needs the wire hooked up so the fuel pump knows to stay on.

      on 700r4's the shift point is controlled by the governor on the driver side of the case. The TPS will control at what throttle input the torque converter will lock at. You can change shift points by changing the weights and springs on the governor.

      their is a way to turn off the check engine light, did this a while ago for a friends and experiment. forgot what fuse to un plug but that is literally all you gotta do that involves the map and somthing else. pretty much making your tbi wiring harness to a carburetor set up look it up in your owner manual you will find this. hope this helps?????

    • @andrewcornell2010
      @andrewcornell2010 5 років тому

      A little late, I pulled the ecu/ignition fuse because when I did the swap my check engine light went off therefore blew the fuse and after I replaced the fuse my truck started running rich and sounded like it had a vacuum leak. I took the fuse out and was good as new. No more problems. I don’t have an HEI distributor at the moment, still have the one with the coil on a bracket. I just put the carb in and got the fuel pressure regulator and turned the key.

      Andrew, I put a 400 small block in my 1993 C 1500 with a carburetor. It has the 4L60E transmission. I bought the TPS kit from Holley and put it on the 600 cfm Holley. I have got the 5+ amps going to the TPS but I still can't get the transmission to shift correctly. I am not sure that the transmission was working properly to start with. What route would you suggest that I take next? I would really love to keep an overdrive transmission if at all possible. The 400 engine, actually a 406, acts like it is way down on power, maybe like the transmission has it in a bind. I know that it is not starting in low gear but I don't know what gear it is starting in. It only shifts one time.
