Thanks for this straightforward no-nonsense how-to. How to install the softbox on the mount and how to fold it up afterwards are simple procedures but certainly not obvious if you’ve never had one like this before.
Thank you so much, mine just arrived for a photo shoot on Monday and I panicked when I couldn't work out how to fit the S bracket and how to refold the softbox into it's original pack. Your video was so precise and a great go to for a fast simple solution. Great also to see it in use and the finished product, beautiful images. Cheers, subscribed for some more great videos. Bless :D
This type of setup is actually very portable and perfect for travel. I have one like this although not the Godox brand (mine is generic) but the softox folds up into a small ball basically about the size of a soup bowl. Mine S-bracket, flash and portable flash stand all fit into a carry-on bag, making them the best portable one-light setup. Of course the light stand I use is not great for outdoor use in windy conditions but it's portable and good for indoor shoots. Would strongly recommend something like this if you need something portable or are starting out as you can get these types of softboxes for $30 or less probably.
how did you achieve that photo at minute 4:30, if you had the flash on her left side and her right side was well lit, but you see the flash on the left side, greetings from Tijuana B.C. Mexico
Hi Luis, I have a speedlight on the opposite side of the softbox for rim light. It was not captured in the video but you can see from light flare on the right.
I really appreciate the tutorial, pro and con analysis, and the link to the product in the description (although the product is currently unavailable on amazon).
Thanks for your detailed comments and for showing the setup AND teardown. I loved your trick about folding it up with the diffusers in place. Like you, I need to setup and teardown FAST! It would have been helpful if you would have provided a link where we can purchase this, tho, because so far, the ones I've found on Amazon DO NOT come with an "S" type bracket, so if you would kindly provide us with your purchasing source, we'd appreciate it.
I need the link for your purchasing source because so far, the ones I've found on Amazon DO NOT come with an "S" type bracket, so if you would kindly provide us with your purchasing source, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for doing that so quickly. I just ordered it. The price was $31 and change, but from your video, it looks like a good product that will hold up well. :)
Thanks for the video. I now have the Godox 32" softbox model that comes with the honeycomb grid and the new S2 speedring, a light sock, and carry case, all for $65 from Amazon. Like you, I keep both white diffusion panels on 24/7 (but remove the honeycomb grid for transport). It's a little tricky to fold the sucker down so sometimes I just leave it flat in a triangular shape. I use my Godox AD200 Pro flash with the Godox H200R round head for softer light and 3x modeling lamp all attached to the softbox for portable studio lighting on location.
Thanks for the review. As an update, the $26 version no longer comes with the bracket. As of today at least, the one that includes the bracket is $42.99.
Thank you for this video. I couldn't work out how to connect the softbox onto the bowens s mount or how to fold it back up again. Both were covered really well. It was a great added bonus to see a photo shoot in action using the single softbox set up. Great content thank you
Thanks for this video. I decided to get the same soft-box, it is great and easy to set up. However, I had to watch the last part of your video a few times to figure out how to close it. The part how to attach the bracket was very helpful too. Thanks
This is a smallish speedlight but, is great for outdoor use since it won't sail off in the wind like a far larger softbox might. It can also be filled by the light from a hotshoe flash. The larger softboxes often cannot be fully filled with the hotshoe...
Thank you!! I was scratching my head trying to figure out how to attach the softbox to the S Bracket. So simple.. I'm not sure I would have guessed that's how it attaches and might have sent it back! Great Portable Softbox by the way!!! Any trouble with using it outdoors?
I got to this video by chance while deciding on a genuine softbox n s bracket combo for the first time and this gave me that and something that is very easy to use and set up. Can't wait to get it.
Just ordered one,and this video is so easy to follow, you covered it all the photos look great and the light looks great, thanks very much for your help with this.
May I ask how you achieved the warm tone in the picture like @3:14 and @3:27? White balance adjustment or was any cto gel or inner gold reflector used?
...and never regretted it. The two sets + stands are in in car at all times so wherever I go, if I need quick and easy extra light, it's there in minutes.
Nice demo! You said, "We're doing double exposure, one for the sky and one for Myra." That's very interesting to me. Could you please explain in some detail how you do that?
What I meant is I was first exposing for the background. I wanted a darker background so I under exposed the environment by half stop then I added the flash in to expose for Myra.
If you are doing a lot of off camera flash and portriat, I would go with the AD200Pro. If you don't have a single on-camera-flash and plan to some event prography then I would go with V860 to start.
hmm - at 4:07 you see the softbox on the wrong position (left side in the video) - very close to the Model. This Position fits the Situation of Light on the Model better - no-more-words.
Does this goes perfectly on a flash with stand ? Or just this kind of flash ? I have a godex 300ii and one of them with umbrella and I wanna small softbox
Hi, thanks for the great video! Is it possible to mount the softbox without the bracket on a studio monolight? I'm looking for an affordable softbox that I can use with both types of flashes (speedlight and monolight). TIA
You can mount it to a monolight but you will need the "Godox Bowens Mount Softbox Speed Ring Adapter". it is about $14 and I used it on my portable strobe all the time.
Great video thank you so much! I’m just having trouble because when I take a picture, a shadow line appears , I’ve moved the box up and down and I don’t know what is causing that shadow! Does anybody know?
It could be that your shutter speed is too high and you don't have high speed sync turned on or your flash does not do high speed sync. Try shooting under 1/200 or for some camera 1/160 sec.
Love godox products only thing is this bracket is not very good , however Godox end of 2019 came out with S-2 bracket mount that is superior to this bracket mount.
To fire the flash off camera, you will need a wireless radio receiver and trigger. The one in the video is a YONGNUO Wireless ETTL Flash Trigger YN622C II ( you will need two, one for the camera and one for the flash).
This is a gud simple tutorial. i loved the part were you shown that will need a trigger, all tutorials i came across never shown it, i was so confused how the speedlight would communicate with the camera. thank you so much
Hi. Do I need a trigger on the camera and on the flash? I have a godox v860ii and I thought I just needed to mount the trigger on my camera to use the flash in the softbox?
Your product link actually goes to the "Neewer" softbox, not Godox! I just bought it and got that surprise :(. Also, it cost more than the $26 that you mentioned. Does the Godox bracket fit a Canon 600 EX RT-3? I just tried the Neewer bracket and it doesn't fit.
I was looking for the godox one with the full kit, but I can't find it for the lower price. The godox and neewer are the same, it is just branding. S-bracket does fit the canon 600 flash. I'm not sure why your does not. Trying unscrewing it all the way if possible.
I finally got it to fit--just barely, but I had to twist it a bit to get it in. I notice that there is only rubber padding on the bottom. The top part is plastic and the flash does not hold firmly, even when I tighten it down hard.
Then that flash bracket is faulty because I own 4 of them and every one of them holds my speedlites just fine (I have a Canon 600 EX-RT and 4 Yongnuos).
Thanks for this straightforward no-nonsense how-to. How to install the softbox on the mount and how to fold it up afterwards are simple procedures but certainly not obvious if you’ve never had one like this before.
Just needed someone to show me how to fold the darn thing.
10/10, I recommend this product and or service.

Man....the way you fold it into a tiny bunch looks so easy. I wish they just give us a bigger, triangular bag to store it.
a triangular bag would have been nice, right!
December 01, 2020 - this tutorial is still relevant and good!...Thanks Trent
how did you achieve that photo at minute 4:30, if you had the flash on her left side and her right side was well lit, but you see the flash on the left side, greetings from Tijuana B.C. Mexico

Thanks for this video man! Do you have any video how to set the power of the flash for using the softbox?
This is a life saver!! I was about to order some kind of adapter! Lol ..thought mine didn't work .
I'm really liking this. I have to get a flash, and remote flash trigger. Once I do, I'll be ready to do some low light, night shots.
Thank you! This softbox just arrived today and I wasn't sure how to mount the S-bracket lol.

Excellent product. Every photographer should have atleast one. Thanks for sharing

Great Portable Softbox by the way!!!
Any trouble with using it outdoors?
You're welcome. I have no problem, it fits tightly and does a great job outside.
Lucas Edwards not alone. Trent, thanks much for making this video
Same here Lucas, I spent another $30 on an aluminium bowens speed ring ….arrggghh ! Good info Trent ..
Lucas Edwards, same!!! Glad I watched this before I packed it all up again :))
Hi, thank you for the video it is informative, can i ask what is the stand that I can place this softbox on?
Fading light ? No problem... Excellent work with the shots... Great model too..
Please info on the triggers you used for the canon speedlite. Thanks
Thank you so much you have no idea how much this video saved me
Thanks for this awesome video. What light stand are you using with this setup?
No nonsense video, straight to the point, amazing video, got to get one soon
I got to this video by chance while deciding on a genuine softbox n s bracket combo for the first time and this gave me that and something that is very easy to use and set up. Can't wait to get it.
Thank you for the clear concise demo, much appreciated
Just ordered one,and this video is so easy to follow, you covered it all the photos look great and the light looks great, thanks very much for your help with this.
To the point video. For this price, it looks worth buying.
Thank you for the demo.
The light looks a little harsh. But that's ok if you're going for that look. If you want a much softer light go for a 120cm.
Goid job. Wich speed flash you used?
Thank You. Bought two based on your video. 24 and one 32
May I ask how you achieved the warm tone in the picture like @3:14 and @3:27? White balance adjustment or was any cto gel or inner gold reflector used?
Short and concise video. Thanks for the tips. I'll buy this one.
Great video straight to the points with real examples!!!
Great demo video. No nonsense, telling it like it is. Godox should pay you. I just ordered two. :-)
...and never regretted it. The two sets + stands are in in car at all times so wherever I go, if I need quick and easy extra light, it's there in minutes.

Thank u so much for the easy video. Just order it last night. Can’t wait to get it
I have this arriving today. Thanks, your demo will be a major help.
You're welcome. Have fun with it
may i have link please
They are so easy.
Hi great video. For inside portraits you suggest this or 80*80?
Thank you! Get the biggest box you can get for in studio shooting.
I know the OP is five years old, but I'm debating about getting a couple of Godox V860iii-v OR the AD200Pros.
If you are doing a lot of off camera flash and portriat, I would go with the AD200Pro. If you don't have a single on-camera-flash and plan to some event prography then I would go with V860 to start.
@@TrentDangphoto Ok, I decided on a single AD200pro and a single SK400ii-v to start. The AD200 should work both in studio and out and about.
@@bme7491 That's a wise choice.
Muchisimas gracias
Eres un buen ser humano!!!
As Ed Verosky said, you should bring the softbox closer to the model, the light is too harsh now
Love this video! Simple and straight to the point! Ty!!
Hi there, this softbox is good for my Nikon SB600 speedlight?
Does Umbrella Flash Light Stand and Backdrop Stand Kit are same?
I mean if i bought Flash Light Stand, will it serve back drop stand purpose.
I prefer the S2 bracket, it accommodates my round Godox speedlights.
Wow man great review and demonstration! And that was gangsta for sitting on the side of that building like that!
Suga Foot thank you! The edge was her idea. She's gangsta. Haha
hmm - at 4:07 you see the softbox on the wrong position (left side in the video) - very close to the Model. This Position fits the Situation of Light on the Model better - no-more-words.
I think I've settled on my first softbox - thanks for a great video!
Does this goes perfectly on a flash with stand ? Or just this kind of flash ? I have a godex 300ii and one of them with umbrella and I wanna small softbox
I bought this exact thing but it's a neewer with a grid on it
Happy to see this is a solid choice. I have one on the way.
@@TrentDangphoto Great, thank you!
Did you avoided outer diffuser coz shadows were hard.
I have a question i wnt to do outdoor shoot like that but iam confused shud i go for octabox or softbox like the one u have
Great video thank you so much!
I’m just having trouble because when I take a picture, a shadow line appears , I’ve moved the box up and down and I don’t know what is causing that shadow! Does anybody know?
It could be that your shutter speed is too high and you don't have high speed sync turned on or your flash does not do high speed sync. Try shooting under 1/200 or for some camera 1/160 sec.
para un godox 24x24 que stand debo comprar la base para colocarlo
I'm new to flash. I'm using a godox ad200 pro. Would I always use both the outside and inside diffuser?
You don't always have to use the inside diffuser but it does make for softer light and less chances for hot spot.
@@TrentDangphoto Great. Thank you for your response!
Thank for simple video. Straight to the important points. 👍👍👍
What flash was used here? Do you think I can achieve similar results with the godox TT350 / V350 flash? Or would this have too little output?
For night time or evening shot, it would work fine. Just increase the ISO.
@@TrentDangphoto thanks!
Thank you! Simple and to the point. Very helpful.
Love godox products only thing is this bracket is not very good , however Godox end of 2019 came out with S-2 bracket mount that is superior to this bracket mount.
what stand specifically did you use sir? thank you.
This video has aged well, helped me today :)
what brand is the flash?? And where can I buy it? thanks
Yongnuo flash but you can check out Godox now of days.
Thank you for the demo, worth a purchase.
Thanks! I am excited to get mine this weekend!
How about umbrella octogan godox? Which one is better?
I use this softbox and I get amazing pictures by using it.
will this box work with a strobe
Yes, You will need a strobe to softbox mount ($10-15) and it will work. Google "Mount Softbox Speed Ring Adapter"
@@TrentDangphoto thanks man
Thanks for the video! It really helped me figure out the setup!
Which speedlight are u using in this video?
Awesome bro! Great tutorial and tips.
I was gonna get the Westcott rapidbox but I’m getting this instead!!
Thanks, buying a Godox 3 strobe setup.
I wonder if this would work with a Roto Light Neo 2
There's no mount on Roto that can support this box.
@@TrentDangphoto Aww bummer. That's the big flaw in that design. There's nothing but their over priced barn doors and defuser setup
Will this particular bracket hold the Circle shapes Flashpoint flashes?
No, you will need the Godox S2 bracket.
@@TrentDangphoto Just got one! thanks for the reply!
Kindly tell me is the flash connected to the camera.. By WiFi or Bluetooth??
To fire the flash off camera, you will need a wireless radio receiver and trigger. The one in the video is a YONGNUO Wireless ETTL Flash Trigger YN622C II ( you will need two, one for the camera and one for the flash).
Hi! Would this work well with product pictures? Thank you!!
Melba Martinez it depends on what are you shooting but in general it should work with product photography. I used it to shoot small bottles.
Trent Dang Thank you so much for your response🙏🏻 Its jewelry, I’ve been going crazy trying to figure out the best lighting on a budget.
What type of softbox stand are you using?
Great stuff.. Great results..
What mount is it though? Im looking at B&H and see it comes with 3 different mounts??
This would be for a speedlight
The s-bracket can be mounted to a bowen style modifier.
Thanks for your review :-). Great photo shooting :-)
Was the flash coming from the the camera direction or the softbox?
The flash is coming from the softbox.
Oh Ok. Thanks
Shouldn’t the soft box be positioned closer?
This is a gud simple tutorial. i loved the part were you shown that will need a trigger, all tutorials i came across never shown it, i was so confused how the speedlight would communicate with the camera. thank you so much
easy simple , thanks
Been using this one past 5 years.
Hi. Do I need a trigger on the camera and on the flash? I have a godox v860ii and I thought I just needed to mount the trigger on my camera to use the flash in the softbox?
TheMsRicanbaby that flash does not need a receiver. You just need the transmitter on top of the camera to fire the flash.
@@TrentDangphoto Thank you!
@@TrentDangphoto how? Please explain.
@@lensbaad6069 That Godox V860ii flash has an internal receiver build in.
