I love how you even keep the little mistakes you made in the game. This was very fun to watch and based on your opinion, I would actually love to try cooking these someday. I already love octopus, but I’ve never had it in a sweet preparation.
Yooooooo! As a native Osakan, I’m glad you liked the dish! You can also use ham, cheese or anything else seems nice, other then octopus. Also as my advice, when you fry the balls, add half-teaspoons of soy sauce. It’ll add extra flavor.
As a native neighborhood of Osaka, I'm glad you like takoyaki. It is told most of people in Osaka and neighborhood area own the takoyaki cooking machine (per a family).
I can't believe you didn't have the most important thing for takoyaki: mayonnaise!! Trust me takoyaki is 10x better if you put mayonnaise on them (specifically Japanese mayo but I'm sure any kind would work as long as you like the mayonnaise on other things?)
Pandefly you shouldnt forget japanese mayo when eating takoyak and okonomiyaki as it taste a whole lot better with it 😌 i even ask for extra mayo when buying it
Honestly, I can’t think of a more consistently pleasant and likable UA-camr. I’ve been watching for ages, Tim, and I’ll keep watching as long as you’ll make videos
I had an exchange student from japan staying in my house and she used chopped cabbage and since I can't eat seafood we put cheese (Mexican cheese) inside, added mayo on top too and added soy sauce on the mixture. and also made a pancake version! Only with pancake mixture and fill them with strawberries
So glad you're back GameTim! Love the food you made! Good thing we can buy takoyaki here in the Philippines but it's still better when you make your own. Hope you show us your variation on takoyaki.
I forgot about this channel for a little. Then found myself looking at cooking videos at 6 in the morning. Remembered there where channels that made things from games and remember you. So happy you're still making videos and funny puns to come back too. Thank you so much!
Takoyaki is one of my favorite snacks!! Adding more fillings drastically improves flavor, I also like to use shrimp instead of octopus. You can also have bonito flakes as a topping, and japanese mayo is also really good! (You can find that and takoyaki sauce on amazon). Takoyaki is a great party snack, its fun to make a lot of batter and set out a bunch of fillings and toppings, then have your friends customize their own and try to make them!
This is going to be such a weird comment, but these videos are the only thing that kept me sane when I had to bring my baby home for FACS. We take home a “Baby Think It Over” project. My baby would cry all night so I would watch your calming videos whilst feeding, burping, rocking her. They made the experience so much better...so thank you!
Love takoyaki. Also the green powder nori cooking mama used is called "ao nori" and it's a great addition to taking yaki. Also, for parties or guests, another traditional topping (not ingredient) is bonito flakes (fish dried, smoked and paper thin) when served on the fresh takoyaki, the heat/steam will make them wiggle slightly for a fun effect. I also agree with Kewpie Mayo.
Was thinking of your videos today and realised I hadn't watched any in a while. Turns out I missed the last three so caught up on those. Your content makes me smile and makes me hungry.
Hmm...what to bother Tim to make next...I kinda wanna see Dora-yaki or Strawberry Daifuku...just because those are two recipes I don't have mastered in the game yet. Hehe...but Dango I think seems more interesting.
In the Netherlands we use the same pan to make tiny pancakes, we call those 'poffertjes'. And we usually put icing sugar, sirup or sometimes even jam on them
i love these videos and your other videos a lot! they’re really enjoyable to watch and i love the person behind these videos. the puns always bring me joy and i wanted to thank you for making these videos!
Honestly, I think you should do a Cooking Mama 2 video series. That'd be great! This is really satisfying to watch someone to recreate a recipe from a cooking game that I grew up, and always imagined how one day I will taste those delicious looking fictional foods. They look very yummy to even not be made from anyone! Everyone should have a chance to recreate these recipes! What I'm also very glad about this, is when you calculated the correct measurements on how much of the ingredients you need in order to make a perfect, outstanding tasty dish.
I like you do everything to detail. All the way to how you over fill things and the placement of how the yolk and water are poured in the bowl. Super cool
Have you tried any Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns recipes? The recipes are incredibly vague, though, so I 100% understand if you don't do any of them. It just gives you a few ingredients and a cooking utensil.
I completely forgot that this was in cooking mama. Here in California, there are areas where there are a lot of Japanese business we call J-towns. In downtown, there's a place called Little Tokyo and a takoyaki stand opened up there. Unfortunately I haven't been able to buy it fresh from there, I only get store bought. Its spotlight seems to always be taken by the okonomiyaki business next door 😅
These recipes work wonders for my anxiety and it's so much fun seeing someone replicate the video game so well in real world terms, along with how much they enjoy doing so! Many blessings and much support to cooking papa!
Amazing video! ❤️ I really enjoy how you made the recepies 😀 i was really excited when I see the notification of your video 😍 Greetings form México Tim😀❤️
People would add extra seasoning in the batter to make it better. In my place, they would add boiled lettuce as the filling which is surprisingly good! And I really suggest you to add mayo on the top. Hope you can have fun making these :)
Have you considered making an episode where you invite friends or family to discuss the taste testing part? That'd be interesting for getting many opinions!
When I used to play this game all the time, I remember how I was happy when mama said that I did perfect because I was kinda awful at the game, but I loved to play it anyway. Lol
If you make this reciepe again you might want to add picked ginger and green onion. Also if you want to cook the octopus you can either cook it quick for about 5 min then shock the octopus or braise it for and hour.
"Hey this doesn't play music."
Technically a DSi can be used as a music player.
Whoops
Good point
Wow, Courtney watches you too? You must be pretty ~special~☆
*_~special~_*
True, but the more valid point is that the ds can be used as a synth thanks to Korg DS-10 and M-01, as well as Rhythm Core Alpha.

If you love octopus, I'm sure you'll love takoyaki!
If you can get your hands on a pan, I'd totally recommend it! And thanks, the mistakes are some of my favorite parts to recreate
Its not sweet.... Its savory. Ketchup has sugar too but its not sweet.
PangoPixel sure takoyaki is delicious but most of the time you won’t really taste the octopus in it.
I also how he eats the food in the end too!
Yooooooo! As a native Osakan, I’m glad you liked the dish!

I never eat takoyaki without mayo and Bonito flakes
I totally agree, It did feel pretty wrong without the kewpie... but they were still genuinely good with only sauce and seaweed
If you like mayonnaise you're a guaranteed psychopath. Change my mind
Shadowtail I can't argue... The only reason I tried Kewpie in the first place was because of a Kamen Rider...
Come back Tim, we miss your videos
he’s back :)
Honestly, I can’t think of a more consistently pleasant and likable UA-camr. I’ve been watching for ages, Tim, and I’ll keep watching as long as you’ll make videos
I always see you in the comments Gagsworth, I really appreciate your support!
I miss your take away at the end of your videos, like how seasoned the food was and whatnot, though I do like seeing you eat your own food.
I never really knew how people felt about those. I'll have to bring them back sometime then :)
this has such immaculate early 2010 youtube vibes. we stan.
Are the hinges on your guitar case broken?
TheUnnamedGent I think he bought the case for that skit
Also it's latches all around instead of hinges
Wake Archus he didn’t. You can see a guitar in the background laying on the couch in the end
I ended up only borrowing it. I'm sure it's just an older case ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Trini M Good eye.
Hey, Tim. In a lot of takoyaki recipes, they also add chopped cabbage, pickled red ginger, green onions and tempura scraps to the mix.
Maybe if he decides to so it on his own, he'll add more ingredients. He only uses what ingredients are listed in the game for these videos.
I've heard about the ginger and green onions, but tempura scraps and cabbage also sound pretty great too. I'll have to try that sometime!

khayle05 can't say it's authentic.
khayle05 that's a horrible thing to say

sad to say filipino takoyaki suck.

haha cheese? what a weird jump, probably pork or another meat
