ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

Blaze, you never got the respect you deserved.....you're still part of Maiden's history.... respect!
I never understood the hate. He has a great voice and was probably the best replacement for Bruce they could have got.
Y did they replace him?
@@burgerham6014 Because Bruce wanted to go solo and do his own thing for a while.
Phantom Echelon thx
The "shite" era
I don’t care what anyone says, the Blaze era was absolutely amazing. His voice suit the dark and somber tone of the albums. I’m glad that Bruce came back when he did, but at the same time, I’m grateful for the time that Blaze spent with Maiden because we got these two incredible albums. The X Factor got me through one of the most dark and hopeless moments of my life, and I can’t be more grateful for it. I wish that this was put on the album.
If you love Blaze don't shy,we all have our tastes and we aren't any more kids who are affected by the most...I must to admit that Blaze voice for this song is a best...
I agree. They are albums are underrated. Same as you I'm glad Bruce returned but I think Blaze was disowned by a lot of fans simply because he wasn't Bruce. I always think that had the albums been under a different name than Iron Maiden they would have been a lot more successful.
The X Factor is a masterpiece. Change my mind.
@@sartori0588 I agree with you. It's my fifth favorite Maiden album.
Blaze rules!!! That's it!!!
Criminally underrated song, I love the dark and melancholic vibe of The X Factor era songs, where Blaze fit like a glove.
1995-1996 the darkest era For me one of the Best
This kind of decadent worldview was popular at the end of the most recent century.
The unique atmosphere of that time is now underestimated.
This for me is the best song from BLAZE BAYLEY era. I like the rage, the intensity and the darkness that they play the instruments.
I saw Blaze some years ago and He plays this song and it was awesome.
Thanks to him I could listen this song live because Maiden don't play anymore.
BLAZE deserves more RESPECT!!!
Futureal please
Lyrically one of Iron Maiden's best songs. more valid today than ever.
Yea. You nailed it.
Yes..
I think that's a really great maiden song. I think bruce dickinson is refusing to sing these bayley-era songs. Dont know why?🫤
You don’t know what you’re talking about. He’s literally sang Futureal, Man on the Edge, the Clansman, Lord of the Flies, Sign of the Cross LOL If Steve wants him to sing a song from that era he’s gonna do it.
I realy loved Blaze Baley's albums. A great singer, for me still part of Iron Maiden.
DEFINITELY
great singer, superb song...
The x factor and virtual xi is good álbums 👍
I agree totally, I also feel the same with both RIPPER/PRIEST albums!!!
totally!
One of Maiden's most underrated songs. Blaze sounds badass.🤘
Totally agree!
Is it an iron maiden's song?
@@КоляШидловский-ы2ъ yes, it is. but Bruce is not singing it. it’s this guy named Blaze, i’m forever thankful Bruce came back.

Maidens Prophecy.
Look, Bruce is Bruce, and he is the voice of Iron Maiden, full stop. But don't take anything away from Blaze Bayley. The man can sing, and he nails it on this song.
Easily the worst Maiden singer, D'Anno is so much better...
Different but great. This song fits Blaze perfectly. Also, I think they gave this one to him, so Bruce won't likely be doing this one for comparison anyway.
This song is great. Love the lyrics and the change of melody & tempo. Again you're right, Bruce is Bruce. He is basically the voice of Iron Maiden. But Blaze did a kick-ass job on this song. He hit the nail right on the head of this song. The music and lyrics scream out Maiden & I don't think anyone else could have done a better job than Blaze. Again Bruce can sing ANYTHING but this is all Blaze & makes this song come alive. UP THE IRONS 🤘🤘
I think the problem with this song is that is mixed horribly, the drums are extremely loud, and the guitar and the voice are not loud enough. With good mixing this song would be great
Phillip Rhodes Di Anno has Prowler, Blaze has Virus and Bruce has everything else:)
This was the song that got me into rock/metal. For 5 years I only listned to Maiden and discovered all their albums. I even started playing music, formed a band with friends. Now I'm 42, have released 4 albums world wide and toured. A new EP on the way. Thanks for all the fun Iron Maiden.
LISTEN TO THE LYRICS, PLEASE....if you don´t like their dark era, fine, if you don´t like Blaze, fine, but never underestimate the lyrics of Maiden.....they always tells the truth in their own poetic and brutal way......
@Logan Waltz I totally love his shows, albums in his solo career, but I still think he made a big impact to Maiden aswell as their later music....OK maybe the loss of Bruce and Adrian made a difference, at least to many of their fans, maybe because I´m a quite recent fan, maybe not, but I simply love this era, to me there are so many Golden Gems and masterpieces written and performed during this era, I´m not sure what weak songs means to you, my guess would be Angel and the Gambler and Don´t look to the eyes of a stranger....but even if theese songs are repetetive, that could be said about many of their later songs aswell.....
Blaze is essential Iron Maiden, as important as every single individual person who ever has been part of Maiden! It's a permanent place in our hearts too! No forgetting the whole fan relevance please! BLAZE IS STILL IMPORTANT TOO!
Fun fact: this is the "poem" that the interviewee recites in the recording playing along the song "BBF3" by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Appreciate what Blaze did for maiden, in their darkest time of their career. Appreciate what Paul DiAnno did in the early days. Appreciate what Bruce did and does now days.
For all the Blaze haters out there. Give the X Factor and Virtual XI a chance lissen to them, They are two good albums
Up the IRONS!
Amen to that brother
Amen I Adore Blaze Era
Love the Blaze albums. People who say otherwise haven't listened to them. I will admit, they take a lot of listens to enjoy them.
Xlemation I really love those albums, but the one I really love the most is without a doubt the X- Factor....
I like blaze bayley because he saved iron Maiden
I love that Dave is just always cheesin. Even in a darkly toned music video, still gotta smile.
Whoever thinks Blaze is a bad singer - remember Bruce Dickinson thinks Blaze is a good singer, and offered constant support to him when he fronted the band.
That’s because Bruce is fucking awesome and everyone knows it
Take a look at Blaze's solo career. He is still rocking and his voice is incredible!
This is what's the most baffling to me. We have great singers, personally, i do prefer Bruce. But Blaze is a great singer just the same, and Maiden did produce some really awesome songs with him.
ON top of this, there's no hate between them, so...Why do "fans" act like one or the other is a definitive version of Maiden?
Yeah, Bruce is a class act. They also remained friends even after Blaze left the band.
Also, whoever thinks he’s a bad singer should listen to his solo career. That’s where he really shines.
"Hey Steve, looks like the budget for our next video is £10"
"All right, just shake the camera about for 6 minutes"
Blaze is a great singer, both in Iron Maiden and in his solo career
Damian Skrok especialy his solo “carrier”
lovro culina it´s me again, but please have you ever listened to Blaze Bayley Band ???
susanne williamsson i love silicon messiah and tenth dimension album
lovro culina just as you say silicon messiah is a masterpiece, and tenth dimension is a true Golden Gem, the power of his voice is unbelievable.....I honestly must say there´s a lot of songs in the Maiden discography that never should be sung by Bruce.....and that´s coming from a 100 % Maiden fan.....
I love his voice. Thanx for carrying Maiden in Bruce's absence. 🇺🇸😎🇬🇧

Saw Blaze sing live this song in Brazil this year. Gave EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the audience attention, shaking hands, taking photos, autographs. What a great dude. The fans back in the day did not made justice. Bruce left because he WANTED and Blaze kept the thing going. Who knows if they've stopped at the time? Every single damn show trowing stuff in Blaze and cursing the guy. Shame on everyone from that period that did those things.
I just ignored those albums, lol. I never was mean to Blaze though...
I had the same personal experience during and after Blaze's concert in Czechia in Brno in 2018. Blaze Bayley is one of the nicest guys in the business along with Rob Halford. Bruce is (was) a great singer but he behaves like a child sometimes
@@davidknichal6629 100% true. Greetings from 🇧🇷 Brazil
To be honest, the first time i heared this song, i said "this is not Bruce", and i stopped the music before 2 minutes, then i listened this more times cause i thought that i missed something on this song, and i finally think that this is one of the Iron Maiden's masterpieces, and after many listenning i can say that Blaze has a so hypnotizing voice! He's a really great singer, he's not Bruce, sure, but he's as talented as him! Up the Irons!
Chazz Durden I heared Man on the edge and i really think that Blaze have more developed his voice on Virus than on this one, even though it's a nice song :)
From my point of view, virus give me thrills when he makes his voice vibrate, and i don't find it on Man of the edge :)
PS : sorry if there are some mistakes i'm not english
Blaze is one of my vocal heros, if you havent already hear it check out 'Stare at the Sun' or 'Kill and Destroy' by Blaze Bayley, arguably 2 of my all time favourite songs.
Yeah he's not quite as good a fit with Maiden as Bruce but his solo stuff is amazing and his gigs are the best ive been to bar none !
I adore Blaze Bailey for me i.m. one of the best albums are blaze bailey era albums(like bruce era somewhere in time or ssoass).he has magnetic voice love blaze bailey era in iron fucking maiden
He is better than bruce

One of the most underrated maiden songs
Agreed and I’m not even a huge blaze era fan. Great song.
I am amazed to see people disliking this amazing song! How little they know of music and heavy metal!
its because of Blaze i reckon :P
James Fakeri Yup, a lot of Maiden fans don't rate the Blaze times as 'Maiden', same as Sabbath with Dio isn't 'Sabbath' :), cracking band and good stuff, but not Maiden in a lot of folks eyes
i kinda agree with them though. i mean its still Maiden but its not the same without Bruce. never was. thats why hes still in the band \M/
yup, same for me, its Maiden, just not 'THE Maiden' hehe
Moto Psycho And its really strange to me that a lot of people dont't like Black Sabbath with Dio, i mean the idea of comparing the legendary voice of ronnie james dio to the weirdo ozzy is just plain rediculous to me :P

God thank you that I met Iron Maiden when I was 14 years old
For me, the singer doesn't matter because everyone is very good and the band is awesome
This video has more close-ups than an 80s kung fu film. I saw Blaze yesterday in Athens . That was my 3rd time attending one of his shows. The dude is a hard worker, great person and has heavy metal in his veins.
the zooming honestly reminds me of the fake Buzz Lightyear TV commercial that he sees in the original Toy Story- great song but a rather primitive video
I saw him back in the 2004 at Wacken open air festival. He was onstage with Doro Pesch and a 60 elements Orchestra. What a concert... And of course... I have a pic of myself with him😊
No one can beat Bruce, but BLAZE is such a nice singer, so nice seeing him making his way through heavy metal.
This one predicted 2020.
Blaze did an awesome job of this.Much respect.Been listening to maiden for over 35 years.Long live metal!

One of Maiden's best songs with an amazing singer. Love Blaze ❤
Blaze's voice was perfect for Maiden's "dark" era songs, I love it
Personally, I think this is one of the best socially inspired lyrics. It's relevance to society today is almost prophetic. That's what makes Maiden great. "As soon as the back is turned, treachery is planned."
All in your mind, all in your head, try to relate it. All in your mind, all in your head, try to escape it.
I didn't get what he means by 'the rats in cellar, you know who you are'. Should I (the listener) consider myself as a 'rat in cellar' or what?
Blaze's voice = melancholy.
Bruce's voice = epic.
and Paul was real metal!
they sing in different ranges. Pual was more punky.
I always viewed Bruce as a more, talented, or technical of a singer, but Blaze has such a certain level of depth and emotion in his voice, for the lack of a better description, that is just so unique. I recently found his solo stuff, this man is certainly a great singer. Plus from all I heard he's a great bloke
I don’t give a damn what a lot of people have said about Bailey in Maiden. Yes, he had to take Dickinson’s place, yes, he did not have the same singing ability... So what? I love this album and for nothing in the world I will deny it.
Up the Irons till my very last breath
I had no idea this song existed until today! My wife got me some Trooper ale for Fathers Day and the Virus bottle lid was there, looked it up!
No clue how I missed this back in ‘96 though but great to see Blaze singing again, I’ll always prefer Bruce, but Blaze did an amazing job with Maiden 🤘🏼
The winter of 1996 when BEST OF THE BEAST was being released, Virus (unreleased, new at the time) was the first track on the double album and it was a small promotional and selling point of the new compilation. Of course, it was also released as collectors’s singles, but those were usually harder to find and much pricier.
Get with the program, poseur!!
Blaze the fans didnt treat you the way you deserved. Respect...
BLAZE IS A GREAT SINGER
And he has aged like good wine. Listen to his last solo album, War Within Me.
lolllllllllllll
Whether a coincidence or not, we thank you Iron Maiden for quarantine.
I love this song and I love Blaze's era in Iron Maiden. It's unspeakable how I miss Blaze in Iron Maiden, but I cannot turn back time. I wish Blaze returned to IM and recorded another The X Factor-like album with IM.
One of the most underrated songs for Iron maiden
With the COVID pandemic occurring i would love to see Maiden play Virus on their Senjutsu tour. That's one awesome thing that would come out of the pandemic seeing Maiden play that underrated tune for the first time live and seeing Bruce sing one of the most underrated Blaze era tunes.
But Bruce already does a bunch of Blaze-era songs. Sign Of The Cross and The Clansman, for example.
You mean the Covid scamdemic.
Blaze, a brave man who took Bull by the horns, at Maiden's front line in the 90’s. Good job Blaze!
now lets take a moment and appreciate bayleys lyrics that made it to BBF godspeed you black emperor song
I was wondering if there were any other Godspeed fans lurking about here, haha.
brilliant song! One of the best from the 90's! the reason it did not appear at X factor was because the song was written after the X Factor tour as a reaction of media's negative focus on the band and Blaze at the time.. Personally I think Blaze is a great vocalist and he do not deserve all the shit some people say about him. The reason Maiden is still playing is because he saved their ass during the 90's. If not, Harris probably would have given up the band.
Blaze was a fine vocalist, but he did not save the band. Hundreds of people auditioned for the spot, and Steve got many tapes send to him.
He even considered Michael Kiske at one point, because he was the only one available, who could sing the old tunes with some dignity left. But he wanted a British singer, and for some weird reason he chose Blaze, who, though he is a good singer, did not at all fit into the Iron Maiden style, and was totally unable to sing songs from the Bruce-era :/
***** That´s my point. They should have chosen a singer who was able to sing the songs. Come on man! You cannot tune down a Maiden-song, they are way too complex and melodic.
***** You think that "The X Factor" is their best album ever?! Okay, that it maybe a matter of taste.
I know they did not want a Bruce-clone, but it doesn´t make any sense to chose a singer who cannot sing the old anthems. If they changed their name to something else, and said that they didn´t wanted to play their 80´s stuff again -it would be fine! They continued to play old songs like for example "the Trooper" and it became rather embarrassing when they did.
***** Hehe, chill man, just because you cannot argue against me now, doesn´t mean you have to go all crazy ;)
***** Nah, don´t think so -good day ;)
blaze was the dark phase of the maiden, that is undeniable, he made his legacy, the guy was badass and continues to be UP FUCKING THE IRONS
Iron Maiden has been and still is my favorite band since # of the Beast. Thank You for making my life better with your beautiful music and the intelligent song theories you make on all kinds of subjects. They were the cutting edge of the NWOBM. They do not lip sync, they have real musicians all thru all their albums. Everyone who has been in this band since their first album is a great musician! Now they got Adrian back in typical Maiden style. We will just have 3 guitars. Adrian does great playing but gives that back up vocal sound. I love how Bruce and Adrian work the vocals. I love everything they did. They put a CD/ROM game of Eddie on the Ed Hunter disk, and had Bruce do Wrath child. Bruce went to learn to fly multi engine jets and had his own band in London. So, they bought a jet and got more freedom to go more places. Typical Iron Maiden.

Blaze was a prized addition to Iron Maiden, I can never imagine Bruce nailing a "Fortunes of War" or "The Unbeliever". His voice added the flavors of somber and gloom to Maiden, something that was different from the fast paced high-energy tracks they had belted out before. In my opinion the 2 Blaze albums (barring a song or two) aged like fine wine.

Couldn't agree more. Maiden has been kinda lacking since brave new world and even that one was kinda meh but wicker man is a banger haha
Couldn't disagree more. Some of the best Maiden material ever has come from the reunion era, in particular BNW, DOD and AMOLAD, which are comparable in quality to Maiden's glory years.
No hate to Blaze, but 90's Maiden is the worst Maiden has ever been. Bruce's solo stuff, on the other hand, is amazing.

@CVM GAM Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are classic albums. The reviews back that up. BNW, DOD and AMOLAD all rate very highly as well, and again, the majority of reviews back that up.
@CVM GAM nah, AOB and CW are classics with virtually no filler, and I can count the number of filler tracks on the first three reunion Maiden era albums on one hand.
Classic Maiden though? Half of NOTB, POM and Powerslave are filler. SIT is a bit more solid than the previous three albums, but lacks the standout tracks. The only one that really doesn't have either of these issues is SSOASS.
