- Tentara Nacional Indonesia Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU, Indonesian Air Force) arrived late last week for the beginning of Pitch Black 24.
F-16C/D Fighting Falcons from the Skadron number 3 and Skadron number 14 as well as personnel have combined to come to the exercise hosted by the @AusAirForce .
One F-16 Falcon is sporting the 62 year commemorative scheme, celebrating 62 years of TNI-AU operations which began back in 1962.

The Philippines once had the most powerful air force in Southeast Asia decades ago. Then corruption and lack of foresight entered the picture. Now we have one of the weakest. That's why China toys with us. But no one (even China) messes with the powerful Indonesian Air Force. Why? Indonesia invests in their planes, pilots, air crews, maintainers,, etc. This is something the we in the Philippines should emulate. I hope that under the present Marcos Jr. administration, we can reclaim our former glory. Looks like we will soon choose between the F-16 or the JAS-39 as our MRF. God bless our Indonesian brothers and sisters and may He keep them safe.

When the Philippine Air Force introduced the F-5 Freedom Fighters during the time of Macapagal, the Indonesians already has Mig-21s in more numbers. The Thais also had F-5 Freedom Fighters in more numbers.
When the Philippines introduced the F-8 Crusaders during Marcos Sr., the Indonesians and Thais has the more advanced F-5E/F Tiger IIs. The Singaporeans and Malaysians followed the acquisition of F-5E/Fs. Don't forget Vietnam that has like 400+ fighters composed of F-5s and Migs.
When the Philippine Air Force first aspired to get F-16s during the time of Marcos Sr., Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore already ordered it.

TNI AU has existed almost as far as Indonesia have existed, their official establishment date is listed as 1946
