I was lucky enough to be working from home that day. Watched the jet flying by from the back deck. The noise was deafening but it was so exciting! Hard to tear myself away but lunch break was over, so had to get back to work! Thanks RAAF, it was magic. Top marks to the pilot. ❤
I was there up the top (the jump) in front of the crane. The sight was impressive but the sound was incredibly awe-inspiring. Unfortunately the video creators, whom I saw, may have had their vision blocked by a building when the plane did it's vertical climb.
Thanks for taking the footage. Wasn't able to attend so appreciate your coverage. Felt like you guys were within arms reach of those impressive machines. Thanks again
@@Sim_XD you should be in Townsville, North Queensland, when they do fly pasts along the beach. Let's just say that they get so low, they may as well throw a fishing line out of the cockpit.
After they go down that length of the river they veer left and fly over Kelvin Grove. They were practicing two days before Riverfire. This Aviation is just seemingly effortless. We all wish we were up there too!
The shots looking over the top of your lens are super! I thought my phone footage from the sky deck was nice but this is a whole other level of amazing 😮
Loved the close ups, followed by BNE backdrop the slow mo. Great Photography you kept your pace even when it went out of view (experienced photographer).
Thanks for this, but I was looking for the Army's Tigers practice run. But then I realised they can just look up the Golf Course locations on google maps. ;)
What camera are you using? It has horrendous rolling shutter performance. However, I must commend you on your ability to track those beautiful aircraft.
They need Sparrows and Sidewinders, too, apparently. I assume the munitions are dummy and are just there to create the look that they think the public expects. Perhaps the drop tanks are there for the same reason? But, as said above, who knows what operational reasons there are?
Thanks heaps for that awesome video... we live 500km west and never get the chance to see this display in person... in fact, I only knew it was on because our local country ABC radio was broadcasting the Broncos game and they said the aircraft were flying over Suncorp
That's a fair point, I've wondered about the cost factor. We just had the air show on the goldie too. Maybe it's just because they are based here and it's "only" the cost of a flight and not moving them from state to state?
Shots of the planes look great, but river fire is nothing without the dump and burn. Have not been there since they stopped doing it. It killed the entertainment.
As a former American Naval Aviator. F18 Echo Driver. This is not permitted. I have seen many NA's lose thier careers.. for low level passes and doing dumb shit.. According to FAA regulations, the minimum altitude an aircraft like an F-18 can fly over a populated area is 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a 2,000-foot horizontal radius of the aircraft, as defined by "congested area" in the regulations; this applies to most military aircraft as well.
Feel free to checkout our video where we talk about the pilot training for this annual event, that's been happening for many decades in a safe and controlled manner.
You're not in Kansas anymore. This is Oz. River fire festival has been going for 30 years. The flight paths are planned with our civil aviation safety authority (CASA) and the RAAF. The height isn't much lower than the commercial airliners flight path to Brisbane airport.
Great video So amzing to see these fly through the city. Top markes to the RAAF
This is absolutely amazing! Aussies don't mess around!
They sure don't! Always put on a great show.
I swear to god, the Globemaster flying through the city put Brisbane on the map and the F/A-18F's are the icing on top.
Tradies with the best view in the house and the crane operator with an even better view haha

Beautiful shots so well done thanks.
Thanks Joel. I'm home sick in NQ and this is awesome to watch. :) I grew up in and around Airforce bases, and love airshows. :)
Absolutely marvellous and cool footagevof the F/A-18F Super Hornet performance in Riverfire 😊
I like how the tradies pause their work to view the rhino flyover

@@mike9347 And your job?
@@2jbass We were trying for the shot of the boys with the aircraft coming in from behind- couldn't line it up how we wanted it though.
It would definitely be a tools down moment. Smoko would be great. What a view
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Those boys sure can fly....Amazing skill they have...A1 footage as well...Great job...!!!

Top job as always to all RAAF personnel and thank you Joel Thomas for some awesome footage! 🙂👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great filming, thanks!
I left Brisbane after 20 years there, 18 months ago. Two things I miss is the weather, and living just north of Amberley.
The shots looking over the top of your lens are super! I thought my phone footage from the sky deck was nice but this is a whole other level of amazing 😮
As an Aussie, this is the best
Awesome footage,thank you.
If you’re like me you’ve flown this route on flight sim about 100 times haha. Awesome footage as always
Great skills on display….exactly what we need from our defence team
Y’all always got the best angles
02:20 The behind-the-camera footage provides the best perspective.
0:50 that's why that building is behind schedule.
Nah but let's be honest. If an F18 super hornet was going to be passing by, i would 100 percent watch that.
Bro this happens once a year give them a break lol
That was so good. Yesterday?
I was on Petrie terrace doing traffic. Holy Moly!!
Taken on Friday :)
@@aviationphotographydigest I reckon Friday on Petrie terrace was better than Saturday at River fire.
@@aviationphotographydigest the Globemaster on Thursday was soooo low too.
Excellent tracking!
Dude some real good footage !!
F/A-18F!!!! Thanks for this mate I needed it😂😄
OH! Fantastic picture.
Just gorgeous
Would be cool to see the B2 down the river!
What a beauty!
Have to love it when your in a building and a fighter jet is flying lower than you are 😂
Awesome footage

Love this🤩
I saw that from my house yesterday although it wasn't that close up / zoomed.
They were doing it for a good 20 - 30 minutes.
that was sweet cheers
So good
very cool edit

That's an impressive amount of Bomb mission decals 212 has.
Can't wait for the riverside/ authority to view jets allowance in the new cfmeu eba!
Great job tracking the F-18s. Where were you perched?
Looks like the new star casino.

All the Yanks still hate this for being "fake" or saying "how unsafe" it is, and should never be allowed, yet love Top Gun movies.
Yep!!!!😂
Cause they want to play the victim card 😂
No they don’t
The Yanks could never take it when they're outdone
@@psoon04286I will happily admit I’m mad that I’ll never see this over here. Still hope to see it in person one day though!
These boys watch over us while we sleep
I want to know how you get access to the roof?
Power of angle grinder with a good cutting disc
Apparently the Pilots are very keen to get picked for this job.
With for our interview with the pilots in our next video, out at the end of the week.
especially when we had the F111 dump ad burns!!
Where is fire? I remembered saw that long times ago.
Different aircraft. The aircraft you see in this vid can't do dump and burn.
Fire is in the exhaust after burner
They need an external fuel tank to get from Amberley to downtown Brisbane??
I would not think so. Probably doing some other training while in the air.
They need Sparrows and Sidewinders, too, apparently.

54 ks from RAAF Amberly to Brisbane, if they need drop tanks to get here, then we bought dud aircraft mate ! 😉

Wait for our videos next week

Is there going to be two at the actual riverfire?
Website says singular but fingers crossed
It will be single, 212 was the backup crew yesterday. Stay tuned for more next week as we will b ring you something pretty special on the event.
This was really sad - after seeing two in practice was hoping for two on show day!@@aviationphotographydigest

I saw the pilot in another video and he looked like a 25 year old kid.
Watch our interview with him and the WSO out tonight 7pm AEST

Nothing wrong with that aircraft in a dogfight!
Yes but we have the best pilots in the world, that’s what they hate.
So why do the rest of us, states, not get this display. Tasmanian taxpayers are ..... tax payers. We contribute to the RAAF but never see them.

RAAF flyovers down ANZAC Parade in Canberra. on ANZAC Day are an annual occurrence.
@@22bseano the cost is just practice anyway, so not much more than they would normally do.
Amberley base to Brisbane is about 2 min flight time.

There are no F-14’s except in Iran. Silliest thing I’ve read for quite some time. Oh, and an F-14 couldn’t do a D and B.
