I am revisiting video games from my late teenage years and early twenties aka ps1 and ps2. I stopped playing games back then but if you would have put this game up I would have thought it was a classic that I missed as far as the graphics go it's truly remarkable how behind they are
More than tough. we have had a lot of talk about how CORPORATE is messing up games, but I have heard some worrying stuff that this preview makes worse over time. I think the quality of game designers, on the programming side, is starting to tank. I already knew Bethesda's general culture, but then I came across a video from one of the OF fallout devs on his issues trying to get devs to be personally accountable and invested in stuff ten years later.
To be fair, there was a female protocol droid in the Prequel trilogy (TC-14, she was the silver one who was tending to Qui-Gon and Obi-wan when they first arrived on the Trade Federation's ship). But, I agree, this game is just terrible and using female characters to defend itself when the game crashes (like they have before).
"The way he leaps off of rooftops and flips backwards to face the camera, before falling into a headfirst dive is just FULL of the exaggerated swagger of a black teen." -Some journo game reviewer, a lil' while ago.
So I just built a new PC with parts I ordered off Newegg. One of the parts (think it was the graphics card) came with a free copy of Star wars Outlaw that I could download on release. Mind you all I had to do to get the game was nothing, but I took the extra step to uncheck the box for the free copy. 🤣

I never could understand that. It’s just plain common sense to make the main playable character attractive looking. That’s how you get sales. I can understand the problems with combat because that’s an issue with open world RPGs in general. I can deal with it. But the ugly female character just reeks of DEI. I can’t go with that.

My one criticism of the comments from Az here is that we shouldn't criticize the story going back to Tatooine, the entire reason why the Disneyworld Galaxy's Edge theme park was a miserable failure is they didn't tap into the classic locations.
Tatooine is done to dead as a setting (especially the first level in a game). Would it have killed Ubisoft to set the game’s first part on a non-desert world?
I don't understand the logic. They spent so much money and resources to obtain the rights and make the game but their target audience (the ones who don't play games whom think this gameplay is revolutionary) is so small relative to the population of gamers who maybe interested and have critical eyes. The money they make won't recoup their development and marketing costs and then eventually lament the amount of money spent and lack of sales to meet expectations.
So, if you ignore the terrible character design, acting, animation and all the other horrible garage the core gameplay is: Run into enemy base , grab your object and leave? No stealth? No need for cover? No puzzles? Just grab and run. Wow. Seems so interesting.
I have a friend. Normal guy, Normal gamer. Very typical dude. He buys EVERY SINGLE GAME with a brand name on it. Every one. Marvel. Dc. Star wars. Madden. Ass creed. Ill ask him about the game sfter a week or two. " Its good. I like it." Then i watch his xbox for time played in the game. He plays games ( total) anywhere between 1 hour to 12. Just saying: THAT is a particular audience out there, that they target.
This did gat me to use my imagination and imagine a parallel universe where Ubusoft was not compromised and lucas Film asked them to make an actually good Starwars game for 2024.
The IGN preview gameplay felt like the dude was speaking praise in order to not fall foul of access journalism, but making a point to show the reality so people can still see it.
If Ubisoft did an accurate recreation of Humberly González (the gorgeous actress that plays the protagonist) I might have been able to ignore the bad AI. But they uglied her up, the AI is terrible and Ubisoft just stole a game from their customers. That's three strikes without even mentioning all their AC Shadows shenanigans.

All the explosion look like it was made by someone who has not seen a real fire or explosion at all. the the explosion's brightness is too uniform without the right amount of orange and black from smoke. Also if you have an explosion it is supposed to light up the environment so where are the shadows.

Your doing yourself a favor because the game is horribly optimized too. Ubisoft claims that a 3060ti can only handle 720p. That's completely pathetic.

It’s amazing how much better the animation of older games are to this. Specifically cyberpunk 2077 and red dead redemption 2.
