They do know what the glow means . Cas told dean he wanted his necklace to look for god he told him it glows in his presence . Cas never found him and gave it back
Chuck singing still makes me emotional to this day lol
Chuck being God was already implied by his last scene in Season 5, but never confirmed until this episode
And by him being alive in season 10, when Kevin was prophet in s7 (prophets should die before the next is awakened)
ut was confirmed by the actor himself the summer after his disapearence
They went about this episode in an interesting way with having the brothers be more of a B plot and having the big revel from the getgo
I know I’m just repeating what everyone else has said but oh man, I love this episode!
I know there are some people who didn’t like the “Chuck is god” turn, but I think it’s so clever and it really makes you rethink his earlier episodes. We were told that Chuck was just “a mouthpiece for the divine word” or whatever, that he was just writing the events of the Winchesters’ lives as they played out. But was he? Was Chuck writing because of the boys’ actions, or did the boys take those actions because it’s what Chuck wrote?
It potentially turns any plot hole into Chuck’s “bad writing” (which I think is hilarious). There’s so much to play with once you get to this point, and I think it’s so so brilliant.
Remember Chuck's quote in his first episode, "The monster at the end of the book". "What ever I write because real, "There's only one explanation. Obviously I'm a GOD!. "I write things and they come to live. "Yeah, no, I'm definitely a GOD. A cruel, cruel capricious GOD!".
This is one of my all time favorite episodes. Belongs right up there with some of the best episodes from the best season, 5.
Sonja Bennett, who played Deputy Jan Harris, previously played Pamela Clayton in 2.09 Croatoan. In Croatoan, Pamela said "It'll all be over soon". Jan Harris says the same line in this ep.
As a person that went to the Cons I heard Rob sing and has his bands CD and he does have a great voice when I got to talk to him I mostly talked about the movie he was in Waiting it had Ryan Reynolds in it.
I have been eagerly waiting for THIS episode for (checks Supernatural playlist count) 254 reaction videos. I remember me and other fans being *adamant* that Chuck was God back when the show had him as a hapless, socially awkward Prophet (I want to say that the showrunners insisted for the longest time that we'd *never* see God, but I could be mis-remembering, it's been a while, hehe). This was such a glorious payoff, I was sure you'd feel the same way when we got here. :]
AAAHHH Robbie Thompson said “oh you’re gonna kill off Charlie? Well guess what. In my final episode I’m gonna make God bisexual. Fare thee well MFers!”
Rob Benedict (Chuck) is the vocalist for the band Louden Swain.
Thank Chuck I can finally say thank Chuck.
He has some voice. Just going to say that 😇
one of my favorite episodes of the whole series
Way back when I watched this episode the first time.. the title led me to think Leslie Neilson would be in the episode.. don't call me Shirley..a quote from Airplane.
Metadoucheatron, doing the right thing, once.. feeding that pup.. removes none of the douchiness from him..I'm still holding a grudge for him pushing that blade into Dean's chest.
Revolution is a call back to Eric Kripke.. he was the creator of the series Revolution.
That baby in the police station reaching for Sam.. gets me every time.
And now I have to go find the video of Rob singing that whole song.
This is my favorite episode of the entire show. I’m so happy it’s here!! 🎉
I think there's a 60/40 chance it was in Sam's pocket the whole time since it was teased when chuck went to say where it was the whole time and Metatron cut him off
At the same time, Chuck could have put it in Sam's pocket and found it elsewhere, but finding it in a bin wouldn't feel like (for me) something interesting for Chuck to share with Metatron.
Although it probably would be a retcon, because of the season 10 fan fic episode, regardless to that though, I like to think Sam has had it with him or at least had it stored safely and maybe with Amara arrising, he took it out and carried it with him. Either way, it's a nice sentimental thing/thought.
Revolution was a series by Erick Kripke and JJ Abrams. It ran for only two seasons. So it was funny that Chuck brought it up.
getting the amulet back was the best.
Was I the only one who suspected that Chuck is actually a God already in the end of season 5 when he disappeared in the air just like *puff* because I didn't think that just a "prophet of the Lord" would be able to do that?
Great ep. Loved the return of the Samulet, that Sam kept all this time.
I was certainly surprised to hear Chuck sing the first time I saw this episode.
I have been waiting for you to watch this. It's one of my top 5 of the entire series! Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) is amazing in this episode! The end of season 5 told us Chuck was God, when he went from wearing a bathrobe & drinking out of a bottle, to wearing a nice white shirt, drinking from a glass & disappeared. They sure made us wait a long time. But it was worth it! When Sammy gave Dean the necklace, he said he got it from Bobby, who said it was special. Then Cas wanted from Dean because he thought it would help him find God. Dean threw it away when it didn't work. God retrieved it. Rob Benedict is the frontman & guitar player for the group Louden Swain. They're great & have 8 albums!
I LOVE THIS EPISODE
Haha your face is hilarious because of the title of the episode. 😂 good episode. I really liked the ending ❤
I love this episode. Love it.
Chuck is great. He does mention Becky in this episode. It's a quick line, though, along with his reveal of being bisexual.
Rob Benedict is a great singer, he has music on spotify as soloist and with his band Louden Swain. I'm not sure if his version of Fare Thee Well is on Spotify though.
This is Robbie Thompson's last episode of Supernatural and he went out with a brilliant one.
Love the song at the end!
OH MY CHUCK. ive been waiting for this. youre right that should have been part of the wake up call out of lucifers mental grasp. as it not only was sams gift to dean but a proximity beacon of chuck himself making it an epic object.
Yeah, the "Chuck is God" thing was a long running theory in the fandom ever since season 5 and this reveal was pretty deal back in the day. I had even come up with my own theory involving the actor who plays Chuck and the possible crossover with the show, Lucifer, since he also makes an appearance on the show
5:00 Kripke's next project after SPN was a show called Revolution.
I loved Revolution and was pissed they got cancelled after season 2. I still want to know what happened next.
It's been a bit torturous not being able to comment any time you've theorized about Chuck compared to how the real-time viewers felt for risk of confirming any spoilery predictions. It was a major theory post season 5 that Chuck was God--basically to the point of being a set fanon presumption in parts of the fandom. And his little cameo during 10x5 only poured gallons of gasoline onto that fire, but to have it finally canon confirmed was AMAZING! I LOVE the whole scene when the amulet lights up and the boys realize what exactly is happening. Great episode and reveal.
it wasn't just a theory the actor who plays chuck confirmed it after his character originaly disapeared he said he said at a comic con that he was asked by a showrunner how it felt to be god
I was actually sad for you when you guessed this ahead of time. When you don’t overthink the show and try and figure it all out ahead of time, it’s SO much more fun to be surprised by the twists and turns.
Your mad, how do you think the fans hated waiting a week back when it was on tv😂
I was one of those who watched it on first run on TV.
The glowing light of the Samulet is not a new concept. Cas told them way back in season five that it would glow in the presence of God. Who knows? Cas MAY have come close back then, but Chuck had it "turned off" because he did not want to be found. I personally LOVE the idea that Sam took it out of the trash and put it in his pocket and has carried it with him ever since, presumably just in case Dean ever missed it and wanted it back.
Ehhh, I don’t know about sniping this one Jer.. c’mon now 👀😅 When you look up this actor on IMDB, the first thing you see is that he is known for Supernatural and right below that, in big bold letters, it says which characters he plays on the show.. which is why I always get so upset when you look up actors on that website.. 😭 But sure, we’ll say you sniped this one.. 😜🙃🤪
Oh My Chuck....😁
Yes! We've all been waiting for this one! It wasn't that big of a shock, but it's nice to have one's suspicions rewarded in such an awesome way.
This my favourite episode in the whole show chuck and metatron have great chemistry and Sam and deans story is equally engaging and when I first saw this on tv 8 years ago I cried my eyes out during the fare the well song
Classic! I remember watching it when it came out lmao
I’ve waited for this episode since season 1
This episode is fucking great, specially that last scene
I knew you'd love this one.
In season 4 episode 1 Chuck basically said that he is a big GOD
i’m a christian but this version of God is really interesting
I choose believe the good out weighs the bad, somedays are harder than others. But there is so much good.
Been waiting on this one
I hate that you guessed it😂 I watch another reactor and she had a theory that John Winchester was God and I kinda liked that lol
I don’t remeber if your predictions made the UA-cam edit but good guess!
This was amazing. I love that they brought back the samulet and that song by Chuck always gives me chills. Of course we now know that Chuck was god (and I’m fine with that) the entire time except that was definitely not canon during Kripke’s seasons.
Finally the big G O D!!!
🤗
