I adopted a Beauceron from the street 4 years ago. They're a blast. Smart, powerful, active, resilient, loyal, capable and complete dorks sometimes. I never bonded that much with any other dog I had. They're bred to guard and to have a strong bond with an active, dedicated, constant, assertive and patient owner/guide but be wary, without proper discipline, company and constant teaching they turn idle, and can become depressed or aggressive if they're not brought to their full potential. They're not a dog you can forget about and leave outside or alone for 12h a day. It's a dog that will give you 150% if you give it your fullest.
Lucky to have had the Beauceron breed for almost 20 years. First was a giant 60kg. Those that know, know - this breed is everything one could wish for in a dog. So intelligent, calm, fantastic with kids and a pleasure with strangers if you say so. Completely devoted to its family and wouldn't think twice about giving its life to save yours. Can easily kill wolfs and handle almost any situation, loving, caring and a 24/7 guardian that will see no harm come to you or the family. Truly unique and amazing dogs that are over 500 years old as a breed and rotties and Doberman's are bred from the Beauceron.

If they're anything like our Briard they'll make good use of them for extra grip when making sharp turns at speed - and also as weak thumbs to grip and manipulate stuff - they can actually hold onto you with those. Both Briards & Beaucerons are very slow maturing - they can be difficult to train because they are independent thinkers - and they won't blindly follow every command. Another thing to be careful of is that their pastoral instincts (herding and protection) can make them a liability when out and about - they need very careful socializing and monitoring around strangers (and other animals).
I have a GSD, and I've been asked multiple times if he's a Doberman. Apparently to people that don't know dog breeds, if it's big, is black and tan and has pointed ears, it's a Doberman.

This is the breed I will be getting. Awesome breed. I met someone with one only the other day. Rare in the UK. We spoke for nearly 30mins. He did mention that the reason the Beauceron isn't taken up by police and military that often is because they are a slow maturing breed. Both physically and mentally. They are mentally adult at about 2 1/2-3yrs old. Too much of a time investment for law inforcement. 12-15yrs life expectancy means its got plenty left in it at 3yrs. @@andretorres75 Yo wait, I just commented that this dog is a Dober ripoff, and now you're telling me that this dog is even older and more pure as a breed of its own kind than the Dober?
Juan Delacruz the Dobermann is a quite recent breed. It was created in the late XIX century by Herr Louis Dobermann with the mix of several european breeds, including the Berger de Beauce (Beauceron). As for the Beauceron, it’s an old french breed with records dating from the XV and XVI century. Besides the obvious similarities, the breeds are quite different from each other. The Beauceron is rustic, a guard but also a cattle dog, able to endure harsh environmental conditions (the Dobermann can’t) and, in the overall, much healthier.
I totally agree with this video. In France the Beauceron is a very popular dog breed. It's a very old landrace breed, the original purpose of the Beauceron was to guard sheep from the wolves but also herd them. At the time the Beauceron was a heavier dog breed and more mastiff like (something that would look like the Great Pyrenees and other LGD breeds). When the wolves starting to disappear the farmers didn't need dogs that were so big so over time they began to look like modern day Beauceron. Their purpose is to herd sheep, guard house and protect people. Nowadays some Beauceron lines have great abilites as herding dogs, they tend to be lighter (female weighing 30-37 kg and male 37-45kg), most of them still have strong guarding instincts because the Beauceron is always wary of strangers. The other type is only use as a guarding and protection dog (of course family dog too). They often win competions in France and they are used by the police and the army since the First World War. This type is heavier especially for the males that weigh 45-55kg. Some lines are mixed and have both strong guardind abilities and herding, with quite a big variation in size. I'm happy the AKC recognized the breed and that it starts spreading in the US. This breed has a very strong genetic diversity, most dogs are very healthy and are active until the end of their lives. For centuries the farmers would keep only 1 puppy from the litters, they needed only strong and healthy dogs to work on the farm that's why the Beauceron is a very healthy breed today. If you feel something with this breed just get one!
You've been doing a great work Zeke, never feel that your videos are not being watched... I myself am a viewer from india It would be a pleasure to get to talk to you

André Rocha Torres cool thanks I owned first dobie in1990 and read about Doberman and this first time I hear it from you Beauceron has been used by L. Doberman to create Doberman-pincher
When I first adopted my dog at 3 months they told me she’s a Rottweiler. But as she grew they started telling me she looked like a pincher or German shepherd. We had one given to us by my sister’s boyfriend 1975, Echo Park Ca. For the longest time we thought it was a dobbie and then dobbie/Gshepherd mix. Until I saw James Bond film Moonraker…”that’s Bobby!’ We were evicted twice from our apartment because he’d eat the furniture, go after the mailman. We moved in 1981 to South Central LA. Best alarm system in the neighborhood. He’d catch rats, squirls, climb over 6ft fences, and jump thru windows when he’d see a critter go by. At the closing of the 1984 Olympics, the whole block was watching the fireworks of the Coliseum when a dog passes by running and Bobby jumped through the front window and my mom was screaming and squealing and the whole block went crazy. what breed of a dog is that, was the common question. There are many stories growing up with this dog, some pleasant some not. All I can say is that these dogs like any other dog need training and devotion at an early age. Loyal, strong and fearless, intelligent and brave. We lived by James A Foshay jr high school and even to this day, many remember Bobby, a Beauceron.

My Great pryneseses all have double dew. Dont remove thr claws! It's a false misconception about them getting caught. My dogs spend all day and night in the field with the flock, unless I lock them up for weather purposes. I check my dogs daily to see for injuries and theor paws have never had issues.. They use those claws for grip and it helps to keep balance on loose terrain and disperse weight.
I'd never heard of this dog breed, thought It was just a cross Doberman, the more I look at it the more different breeds I see, interesting to see how many breeds this dog had a hand creating. . Seems the more versatile a dog is the healthier it is.
It should be very obvious from their appearance but the Beauceron was also used to develop the doberman. Amazing dogs, not talked about enough in my opinion they are quite intelligent and they really want to please, their energy level isn't as intense as I initially expected.
My Beauceron is like a 100 lb Chihuahua with the drive of a Malinois. I would caution against anyone getting one, knowing they’re getting exposure and will probably become popular.
This dog looks like it could be the best balance between a family dog, a guard dog, not to big for a smaller space, not gonna drool, not so driven as a malinois, not too much hair, would be fine in a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters. what do you guys think?
From my research, I don't currently have a Beauceron, there are a fairly limited number of reputable breeders in the US. Overall a small number of breeders, so yes should be less of an issue with health problems.
That first shot of his hindquarters and long tail - he looks just like my special guy. He's BIG altho not as big as his sire, a Great Pyrenees (more double dew claws). Before he got his full growth his tail dragged on the floor. I love him so much.
It depends, it helps them to climb on steep mountains in France. All the French shepherd breeds have them, the Great Pyrenees, the Briard, the Beauceron and also the Estrella Mountain Dog ( which is a Portuguese breed truth to be told ).
Most rear dew claws aren't held together by bone and therefore usually snag. But from my understanding the Beuceron's rear dew claws are connected by bone so removing them would be unnecessary. Apparently this was designed to improve the dog's mobility.
Some of my Saint Bernard pups were born with the double dew claw. I have them removed as they are very loose and dangerous. Like the other double dew clawed breeds at some point in history they would have been useful.
Edy Vrg They apparently do but looks as if there is no bone in their rear dew claws. Bare in mind I might be mistaken since I read this online so I do encourage you to fact check me.
His complete name is ‘’beauceron from land of fire ‘’ So great dog but becareful for this dog protecting his family is more important than enything Think about that when yours kids are playing with other kids
Very quickly understood why everyone who owns a Beauceron usually has more than 1. They have a very unique, quite human like personality. They are VERY quick learners and very trainable but will happily run rings around you if you don’t know how to handle them. I’ve got a 7 month old bitch that is starting IGP
I adopted a puppy that was sold to me as a Rottweiler mix, first thing that caught my eye was his hind dewclaws he has single dewclaws and not double but he looks exactly like a Beauceron, as he started to grow he started to resemble what I thought was a Doberman Rottweiler mix. His ears aren’t docked either and are quite floppy. I’m going to do a dna test on him but I’m almost sure he’s a Beauceron.
"french poodle, french poodle that" fuck that : that's the national breed of France, one of the most ancient, effective and solid breed there are used by the people since centuries
Best dog ever. I have only good memories with Beauceron. Not a pet, a part of the family. RIP Raul. Also nobody fucks with you, he will jump you direct.
If you're talking about service work its going to be hard no. Beauceron owners and breeders do not recommend beaucerons as service dogs as they don't usually have the right temperament and take longer then most breeds to mature as well.
take a shot for every comment saying "it looks like a mix of GSD and Doberman" xD
That awkward moment when the Beauceron made the Doberman 😂

I'd never heard of this dog breed, thought It was just a cross Doberman, the more I look at it the more different breeds I see, interesting to see how many breeds this dog had a hand creating. . Seems the more versatile a dog is the healthier it is.
Sublime looking pupper.
I really like and admire this breed there beautiful
It should be very obvious from their appearance but the Beauceron was also used to develop the doberman. Amazing dogs, not talked about enough in my opinion they are quite intelligent and they really want to please, their energy level isn't as intense as I initially expected.
We need you do a documentary on the broholmer breed.
My Beauceron is like a 100 lb Chihuahua with the drive of a Malinois. I would caution against anyone getting one, knowing they’re getting exposure and will probably become popular.
Loving this content Zeke! Keep it up!
Best dog I have ever owned ❤
No bone cancer like in Rottweilers or heart issues like in dobermans. The beauceron seems superior to both.
I’ve been waiting for this vid!🕺🏽
This dog looks like it could be the best balance between a family dog, a guard dog, not to big for a smaller space, not gonna drool, not so driven as a malinois, not too much hair, would be fine in a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters. what do you guys think?
A breed in symmetry. Not yet ruined by the breeders.
One of the best breeds there is, more, healthy, dogs of this breed need to find their way into the US
A lot of ppl mistake these for Rotties, at least the ones w/o cropped ears
You do such a good job. This breed is very interesting to me. I've had GSD's would this dog have less health issues?
Depends on the breeder. Working lines have generally nearly no health issues!
From my research, I don't currently have a Beauceron, there are a fairly limited number of reputable breeders in the US. Overall a small number of breeders, so yes should be less of an issue with health problems.
Definitely one of my favorite breeds💕
That first shot of his hindquarters and long tail - he looks just like my special guy. He's BIG altho not as big as his sire, a Great Pyrenees (more double dew claws). Before he got his full growth his tail dragged on the floor. I love him so much.
Could you do a video on greyhounds ? I know you’ve done sighthounds but would be cool to see one on the classic
I feel that those double dews are a reckless hazard for a working dog. I’ve had dogs loose them just messing around.
@@Nemesislord001 do you know if briards have the same thing?
Some of my Saint Bernard pups were born with the double dew claw. I have them removed as they are very loose and dangerous. Like the other double dew clawed breeds at some point in history they would have been useful.
Edy Vrg They apparently do but looks as if there is no bone in their rear dew claws. Bare in mind I might be mistaken since I read this online so I do encourage you to fact check me.
I really would love if you did a specific video on cattle dogs, not just the agility dog video you have. Hope to see it some day!!

His complete name is ‘’beauceron from land of fire ‘’
So great dog but becareful for this dog protecting his family is more important than enything
Think about that when yours kids are playing with other kids
Why homeboy sound so tired? He need some coffee.
love ur content keep it up
Very quickly understood why everyone who owns a Beauceron usually has more than 1. They have a very unique, quite human like personality. They are VERY quick learners and very trainable but will happily run rings around you if you don’t know how to handle them. I’ve got a 7 month old bitch that is starting IGP
Beautiful dog.
Beauceron is also a good problem solver. Very funny with me. Very serious with strangers.
Beautiful dog
This is a beautiful dog 😮
I just got a free female puppy beauceron from my uncles farm she’s gorgeous ♥️
Really informative video outstanding well done
why does BEAUCERON sounds like boss around? will this dog make you bounce and run?
😀
Funny, I've never heard of people removing dewclaws from their dogs preemptively
some see it as a selling feature
Lot of hunting dogs get dewclaws removed as puppies
And cropping and docking is unheard of where I'm from
@@vikingdogmanship that's unfortunate.
@@ratdraws9445 You are
Nice! Can you do one on the Boxer?
I adopted a puppy that was sold to me as a Rottweiler mix, first thing that caught my eye was his hind dewclaws he has single dewclaws and not double but he looks exactly like a Beauceron, as he started to grow he started to resemble what I thought was a Doberman Rottweiler mix.
His ears aren’t docked either and are quite floppy. I’m going to do a dna test on him but I’m almost sure he’s a Beauceron.
Did you do the test to find out if he’s a Beauceron?
Its Beautiful!!!
Why did she crop the ears? Or why do people do that with this breed and the doberman?
For working purposes or looks.
Are the ears naturally pointed or docked?
"french poodle, french poodle that" fuck that : that's the national breed of France, one of the most ancient, effective and solid breed there are used by the people since centuries
Loved this! I'd love to see the Boykin spaniel!
Got an identical dog at home in India. Got it from the streets when it was a puppy. Wonder what breed I have?
Where could I find Bruceron breeders/pups ?
It seems like a larger Heeler, maybe? Personality wise?
Great info great breed
Best dog ever. I have only good memories with Beauceron. Not a pet, a part of the family. RIP Raul. Also nobody fucks with you, he will jump you direct.
Were Beaucerons used in the creation of Dobermans ? They seem rather similar in appearance.
Yes
its actually not called merle, its called harlequin!
good stuff! I miss the member stuff though.
Beaucerons are the most under rated dog
A cross between Doberman & German Shepherd looks exactly like this.. My friend had one.
4 thumbs up. I see what you did there 😉😂
How does Beauceron compare with the Doberman Pincher & to help handicap?
If you're talking about service work its going to be hard no. Beauceron owners and breeders do not recommend beaucerons as service dogs as they don't usually have the right temperament and take longer then most breeds to mature as well.
