Hi, after struggling for over and hour to put that chrome strip in I came across your video. Using the trimmer string to help guide the trim in along with a moderate amount of soapy water worked like a charm. Took me about 10 mins to finish one side and less time than that to do the other side. Thanks for your insight on this method.
Thanks Slades. I was not going to do the chrome trim, but since I could not get the cal look rear windshield seal ; I end up purchasing all new ones and the only one I could get from Wolfsburg west at the time were the one with the trim molding. I hope it looks good in the car.
@@juniorclassicvwbugs924 The chrome trim honestly looks nice! I didn’t on my super and was bummed out afterwards. My 68 has the original chrome on it. I’m definitely going to use it.
Those are very hard to do. A friend broke two before finally nailing it the third time. Very interesting method with the plastic. I believe the trim on the weatherstripping makes the cars look more finished and elegant.
@@juniorclassicvwbugs924 it definitely works and you’re doing one heck of a job. I really like how methodical and thorough you are in your work. It ensures great results. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Hello 👋 John how are you? I hope you’re doing well. It does work. Installing the the chrome is still not an easy job, but this makes it easier as you don’t have to press the strip as hard. And if you were to use the OEM strip it much easier. Thanks for your feedback.

Great video brother!!! Very well done! I like the chrome strip. I think I’m keeping it this time in the 68.
