What’s RBM? It’s an acronym. It stands for “reverse BIT magic.” A way of using game files to set flags through BIT. BIT, too, is an acronym. It stands for “back in time.” A way of glitching out the game to play in the title screen.
It's pretty incredible how much this run has developed. I remember setting aside a whole evening to watch that SGDQ 2014 run and just thinking how you'd have to have nerves of steel to run this game for almost 6 hours straight.
Always love watching Skyward Sword runs. First time I played was actually on the Switch version, and I managed to miss the dialogue during the loftwing tutorial that explains tells you to flick the controller to flap your wings. Spent a good 2 minutes in the clouds before I figured it out
I never played this game but i watched my sister struggle through it, and consequently never desired to play it. I would love to see somebody with the skill to do so skip all the forced tutorial skyloftwing garbage, as occurs here, but then play all the actual adventure areas relatively clean, without constantly jumping to the title screen, since what bits I see of the real game here are actually engaging to look at.
then watch the old route which was five hours and still went to the title screen a decent amount. before ss got broken it was mostly about stamina management and movement if that interests you
The sad truth of it is the tutorial feel you get from fi never goes away. So when you can play the game it is fun, but you get interrupted so much that it's hard to stay interested
I gotta be honest, wasnt a big fan of this run. Most of the LOZ runs I see are usually pretty technical but most of what I saw was BIT stuff. Which, while cool and I know it has a point, is difficult to get really invested in. Absolutely great run though! And great job to the whole couch and of course gymnast.
BiT is also quite Technical, it‘s not as obvious as with other games but it‘s more about timing and memorization, obviously that makes it more entertaining for the runner and not as obvious for the audience which means it‘s not as flashy if you get to see it repeatedly
I understand BiT is for moving conditions and triggers which the game has to see fulfilled in order to progress the story. But why call it Back in TIME? What's the time part? You are just killing yourself and ending at the start screen, you don't really go to the past
it was explained briefly in the run, when it was first discovered in twilight princess, they misunderstood what was happening and named it based off of that.
Mm they are stressful. SS underperforms as a Zelda game in many areas, it was nice to see tiny sections that weren't a chore. Pressure, but a not a chore. The Silent Realm itself just feels fresh enough. Need another dungeon where you swim around? How about a fire dungeon in Death Mountain? A mini segment where you can't just spam some attacks to push through was at least Fresh, if imperfect.
And that's why, as they are fun for those reasons. Rather than the snore-fest that is Twilight Realm's way of collecting tears. The Silent Realm trials at least provides a challenge, making you at least pay attention.
it’s pretty pixelated and blurry, granted that’s because of the watercolor-esque art style and the wii’s hardware. but you got an hd re-release coming to the switch!!
Agreed, it‘s just really not my style, it doesn‘t feel like it has a really unique style on it‘s own, it looks pretty generic and average I feel? Like neither really cartoony neither stylized neither realistic… but some people might like that it has a bit of everything. I think it‘s really a question of taste.

Imagine being a game dev and watching people play your game through the select file menu. Lol.
There are "gamedevs react to speedruns" Videos for a few games, but i don't think this will ever happen for a Nintendo game
Always love gymnast’s runs. He always explains thing in a way that’s easy to understand.

TexSnavvy Ganon shows up and megalovania plays “You feel the HONKS crawling on your back”
reverse back in time magic

I just love speedruns like this that revolve around breaking save games and stuff like that.
How to beat a Zelda game in record time by dying over and over on the title screen.
Still in the title screen over an hour in? Slowest run I've ever seen... phh...
Seriously though this run was a joy to watch.
Can’t believe how far this game came since 2018! Awesome run from Gymnast of an awesome game!
Wow, I remember the last time Gymnast did Skyward Sword @GDQ, that time cut is enormous!!! Outstanding run!!!!
Glad to see Gymnast running this game at GDQ considering he is the one that discovered rbm
felt so bad for gymnast when he died at malice, but way to redeem yourself in the end man. loved the run and expertly explained all the way through!
Gymnast always puts on the best runs of the event.

the entire run is navigating 3 menus while playing the game wtf hes out here saving file 3 over file 2 while saving on file one
TP SS MM and BotW are my fav LoZ games and seeing them speed run is mind boggling
I watched my brother play this game, I’ve never competed it, glad to see it
Awesome run! Funny and informative group of gamers.
this is on the same level as linkus's wind waker hd run with PAUSA and SPLOOSH
Funny to think that Gymnast was there for that one too, on the couch that is. Maybe he‘s just cursed who knows
Kungfufruitcup does the absolutely perfect HONK, love it every time xD
I vote for the Back in Time glitch to be renamed "BITE THE DUST"
don't you mean byte the dust?
Speedruns are so intertaining
i love this game so much
Back in time is why breath of the wild only has one save file 😆 they learned
This!!!!!
@@courtneycherry113 Did you just reply to yourself??
@@dinoactual Apparently yes
You‘re also not able to manually reset the switch, that is the actual issue to why BiT doesn’t work on switch games in general
This has to be the most disjointed speedrun I've EVER seen.
Did I hear SpikeVegeta in the beginning during filename setting?
1:49:05
I clapped for that one at home. Im so happy they survived.
HOOONK!
I love everyone calling link 'Honk', because 'Honk' is a german term for 'Moron'
Is that a toad wii remote with motion plus inside?

WHY do people like the trials????? I hate them so much they r nothing but pressure, annoyance, and even some fraging stealth all in 1 :(
I must admit, they scare me a lot
The trials are why I have anxiety to this day

john mcmasters, I like them for the atmosphere, and I find them stressful in a good, memorable way🤷♂️

Does anyone else think Skywars Sword is a *hideous* game to look at? I'm being honest when I say I think this game looks UGLY.
