ZFG is always a highlight during GDQ. dude practically does GDQ on stream every day, so it’s like he’s always practicing. feels so natural, even though OoT is extremely technical.
my boy zfg looking good and healthy it's real nice to see. I couldnt see this live but i was very very eagerly waiting to see it. Lot of work was put into this run and im so happy that zfg got to showcase it at GDQ.
It is amazing how more than 20 years after this game's release, runners still find such incredible glitches. This just shows how much love for this iconic series there is
15:29 "And in general it's good to become adult quite quickly because adult can just use a lot of extra stuff.. adults just generally- the better, you know, if you wanna get lots of stuff you should be turning adult, really." Great advice for Ocarina Of Time, and for life itself
Yikes... Don't become adult quickly... Try to hold on to your innocent inner child as long as you can, just like Young Link, you'll miss out of all the fun stuff and then have to rush it as an adult cause there's no time to catch up.
@@thealarm7057 but then you realize you though so much about the anxiety of becoming an adult that you actually don't do anything because another better thing could happen, like dating a person: "Yeah, I mean, I like him,he likes me, but there are better people to date with and he will probably break my heart and I will end up not being a good adult later in the future". damn
I swear some these Zelda glitches involve so much memory manipulation and precision that one day a speed runner will prove Ocarina of Time is Turing complete. Then another speed runner will program Ocarina of Time in Ocarina of Time.
This already proves that it's Turing complete, at least to the extent that you can claim that about an N64. Arbitrary code execution means *arbitrary*.
In fact it IS Turing Complete: we already have ACE on the n64 version, by multiple methods of input, so you can code anything in OOT given enough precision now.
Seriously my favorite speedrun of all time. Truly a testament to the dedication of runners to their craft. Also, while the new glitch was awesome, I'm glad they kept many other glitches in the run, even if some of them might have been made obsolete by the new glitch.
There are actually way fewer than 256 but because every item has a value represented with 8-Bits there are 256 possible items. Over 100 of them are glitched items
Trying to carry a skull token into a different room using the boomerang. Got door instead - huh? Then three months of software reverse engineering and technique development to get to this point.
This is crazy I can't believe they got adult like without having to do any child levels I hope it makes them do the levels as adult link that would be hilarious
this makes me think, I wonder if someone could use ACE for a magic trick, like they'd have someone pick a card, upload data of that card number(probably prior), then execute the code to make link's B button have the card on it. that would be pretty dope
Best thing about this game is when the rumble Pak actually tires out your hands from fishing that 26lber! Love everything about this game and fuck the water temple... J's...
i feel bad for everyone who doesnt know whats going on. I swear ive heard "what?" in the audience so many times. their brains must be melted by the end of the run
You can really tell a Zelda game has been absolutely busted wide open at the seams when the textures all start breaking and looking like they do when you leave the N64 on too long without turning the tv off
This is super impressive and entertaining, but I can’t help struggling to keep interest whenever I try to watch OoT runs because no matter what they never resemble the vanilla run. Just kind of difficult to wrap your head around what’s even happening.
yeah i get that, this game has become so incredibly warped over the last decade and new major glitches are still being found to this day that warp the run even more. You either had to watch the progression of the run over the years or put a lot of time into watching current runs to get an understanding. Its definitely tough to wrap your head around.
He was playing the GameCube port of OoT (the anniversary edition to be more precise) on the Wii, as the Wii has backwards compatibility with GameCube games. ZFG always plays with a GameCube controller.
He said he's playing the gamecube version and it says in the corner he's playing on a wii. My guess is it's the gamecube disc played on a wii with a gamecube controller.

This already proves that it's Turing complete, at least to the extent that you can claim that about an N64. Arbitrary code execution means *arbitrary*.
I mean, shouldn't the fact that they managed to code a picture that wasn't initially present in the game already be proof of that ?
I mean, there's ACE. That pretty much makes it turing complete lol
In fact it IS Turing Complete: we already have ACE on the n64 version, by multiple methods of input, so you can code anything in OOT given enough precision now.
see the glitch exhibition after this run where they will code in a surprise :)

ok this guy is a god lol, unbelievable displays.

The donation at 1:29:29 was incredibly emotional.
huge glitch there, I'm so amazed by this run WOW
ZFG: "Okay so I did some rolls and dropped some bugs and now I have all the items."
When he said 20 fairies my first thought was: "Dear God..."

No less pointless then any other category.
The new glitch isn't "fun" to many.
Because it would be just him in the deku tree the entire time doing the same thing over and over, it would be incredibly boring to watch.
