ngl, I really love when the run doesn't go as planned and the runner has to show his skills in the regular way of fighting. It makes for a surprising but very welcoming addition. I also like how most mistakes led to some comedic moments in this run. Really enjoyable.
I think it just does show that it’s a bit more tense when you’ve got an actual crowd behind you and not doing it on video but either way he’s incredible
@@Bluzlbee Not even worth doing gimmicks like that when you're just playing the game casually tbh. The absolute elated joy I felt the first time I killed Genichiro, after HOURS of white-knuckled attempts, with no funny business can not be understated. I literally jumped up, shit talked the TV, hip thrusted the air, and jumped around for a minute working off my excitement lol. Wouldn't have had that moment if I used a gimmick.
The fact that someone goes through the whole game that quickly and only dies that many times is unfathomable to me like I've died 15 times to one mini boss
He’s absolutely correct when he stated it’s more of a rhythm game. Once I applied my guitar hero skills the bosses seemed to drop like flies. Great Ape was, casually, incredibly fun. I didn’t really find him to be difficult. The Snake women are much more difficult in my opinion. Fantastic run.
I Feel so bad for LilAggy, he its a god in Sekiro and in this SR just, everything go bad, I'm pretty sure he was really nerveous, but still, an Amazing run!
For those wondering, he's called Giraffe but the japanese is a hint towards the snake eyes he's become a follower with... but yeah in english it makes no sense. Thanks translators!
This is a beautiful game to speed run because if the strat fails, you HAVE to be good at this very difficult game to save it, and this run showcases that several times.
tomato will forever be one of my favorite lil fellas on the internet, and i really like how despite all the mess ups they turn it into a way to tell the audience something about maybe why that happened or what is supposed to happen. neat lil guys
genichiro’s AI: _refuses to be cheesed_ runner: ok we’ll just do it for real then _proceeds to_ *perfectly deflect and counter all his attacks* my jaw honestly dropped, super impressive display of skill with this game!!!
@@emanuelc.8579 Honestly I found Genichiro to be one of the harder bosses in the game. I had an easier time with Isshin. Genichiro has a lot of attacks that look very similar to each other, which threw me off a lot.
Genichiro was hard the very first time you fight him. However, you fight harder bosses in the game after him, and then even him AGAIN where his moveset is almost entirely the same. By then, deflecting his attacks and knowing which ones to dodge (if you play on harder mode) is like riding a bike, you never forget.
Take your time to learn how to deflect. It took me until the Geniichiro fight to learn that lesson the hard way and the early game was a miserable experience as a result.
I'm surprised they did a Spanish dub. Usually they just do English and Japanese nowadays. Also glad to see TA interested in this game. His Fallout runs are a joy to watch.
language doesnt matter in sekiro since you can skip all text so aggy just runs on the language he prefers which is spanish. also makes gyobu much funnier than japanese is lol
Sure, there's the oof moment of getting beaten by Father Owl on Aggy's first attempt -- but then he comes back after a couple false starts and does it flawless, no damage, no buffs. Wild.
Castlevania Symphone of the night used to be my game to sit and play every year, now is Sekiro. Definitelly my favorite game of all time! I like Dark Souls and beat 1 and 3 but i think they improved so much the Dark Souls mechanic and made this awesome game with pure gameplay. Nice job From Software!
Never played Sekiro but I’m betting it’s pretty great, because I’ve heard lots of people talk about it and none of them mentioned it’s...maybe the most beautiful game ever? Good lord what a thing
Lil aggy is probably my most favourite sekiro UA-camr AND speed runner, that’s all I really came here for seeming he has become so popular amongst twitch and UA-cam with his speed runs
That's what this is basically. The only minibosses this doesn't include are the tutorial one, Headless, and Shichimen iirc, because those are the only ones that don't give prayer beads, and the only bosses it's missing are Emma and Isshin Ashina, and that's simply because fighting them requires going for another ending which would mean going all the way through the game again on NG+.
WOW you can pick up the bell charm even if the old lady dies at the end?! I did not know that! I actually missed the bell charm at the beginning during my first playthrough and ended up picking it up in my 2nd playthrough
I'm surprised he said that Guardian ape is a nightmare casually but didn't say anything about Geni. I rammed my head into a figurative wall for hours trying to get Genichiro's moveset down and eventually did. Probably 40-50 deaths if not more. Guardian ape was kind of a breeze after that if you know what to deflect and to use the spear which, admittedly, I already knew. Otherwise, you just have to run around and get a cheeky slash in here and there and he doesn't hit you very much. After that Guardian Ape, I didn't even have any problems with Headless ape either. First try phase one, and took me only 2-3 tries to get through phase two. Firecrackers simply MELT his ape buddy so that was a non problem.
Kinda sad the first genichiro encounter isn't considered in the "as many bosses as possible". But then I guess he doesn't give any memory/prayer bead so it would make sense. It'd be awesome though and probably a heavy reset point
as someone who just beat the game and got my ass whooped by owl for 3 days it was very satsfying seeing him not go down without a fight. hes too good to go out like that
It’s because he is a bad boss design, that’s all. Once you get the mechanic down, this game is all about aggression and relentless pressure. Owl is the most defensive boss of all the bosses and mini bosses combined, by far. He constantly jumps back to reduce pressure and is paired with a super fast posture recovery. You have to constantly chase him and it is just annoying. In any Souls game, bosses that constantly evade and need to be chased after are among the worst and most boring one. Why? Because at the end of the day it is a war of attrition. You have to get through the boss with the health you were given. The longer it takes, the higher the chance you will die. Bosses that evade drags the fight in length, so you have to dodge, deflect, jump more for a longer time, and any mistake is way more punishing for you than for him. It’s not hard, it’s boring, and boredom makes you make mistake.
@@HiItsMars Even in glitchless runs AI exploits (or cheesing) are allowed because it's still within the "game rules", so to speak. So yeeeah, it'll be difficult to find a speedrun without cheesing, but there are plenty of legit boss fights floating around.

I don't know if there are any spots like that there, the Ashina Castle one was pure dumb luck. You also need to fight the Shinobi Hunter miniboss about halfway through Hirata, so you'd have to deactivate airswim in the river there instead of at the drunkard, and then run to the drunkard anyway. Tomatoangus' questions were really helpful and really added to the run
yeah you could tell he knew what he was asking and it was purely to increase discussion and for viewer engagement.
Tomato knows how to play the run for entertainment.
Absolutely his fallout anthology run is top 3 gdq due to his comentary and input alone.

Massive souls fan. I have platinum trophies for DS1 and 3. But never wanted to play this. might give it a go though.
in Harata Estates, could you use the air swim to get all the way to the drunkard and cancel it in the pond before his fight?
I wonder if that is possible.
My guess is no? You cancel air swimming by surfacing in a swimmable body of water, aka something that will transition you from swimming state to a ground/surface state.
I do not believe you can swim in that pond, thats what makes me doubt that. But maybe all depths of water have that property if you go from underneath the world!
You'd have to find a gap in the collision close enough to the beginning of Hirata to not lose time going out of your way, since the only way to get there is through a loading screen so you would need a way to reactivate airswim once you're there. You also need to fight the Shinobi Hunter miniboss about halfway through Hirata, so you'd have to deactivate airswim in the river there instead of at the drunkard, and then run to the drunkard anyway. At that point I'm not sure if it would save time if it is achievable.
Can you swim in the pond? If you can't you can't cancel the air swim there if I understand correctly.
If sekiro is a rhythm game owl is a mix up character in a fighting game.
