One of my all time favorite songs. Amazing talent of Mr Eugene Pitt and the fabulous Jive Five. I’ve been telling ppl about doo Wop for years, and some have tried to get me to stop listening. Ha! I know what the good stuff is! So glad to see a new generation appreciating this and other marvelous music. Keep going. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
I remember when I was a teen standing on the corner with my friends listening to this song on my transistor radio. Listening to my favorite DJ, Jerry Blavat, The Geator with the Heater from Philly.. Doo Wop at its best.
I always thank the geator for turning me onto this great music. Loved his dances too. As Daryl Hall once said, without doo wop, there would be no Hall and Oates and no Philly soul sound.
In 1958 I was 9 yrs old, so I’ve lived through all of the great music that you guy’s play on your channel, starting from the Doo Wop years. I feel very fortunate hearing all these great songs…thank you, Shawn & Mel!👍👏👏👏💙💖🌺🌹
A 1961 classic. Lead singer, the late great Eugene Pitts was one of the best ever in the doo wop genre. "Rain", "Never Never" and "What Time Is It?" are great too.
One of my favorite songs when I was in high school. I had it on a 45 rpm record. The lead singer and co-writer of the song, Eugene Pitt, died in 2018 at the age of 80.
Was out early 60s great Doowop music. Eugene Pitt has an incredible voice. Another person here suggested What Time is It, great recommendation. Appreciate you both reacting to great songs as this, keeps Doowop alive!
This great song was out 61 yrs ago and I still love it. I didn't hear back then little too young but on a PBS Doowop Show. What Time is It I'd good also. Gene Pitt had a great voice, love it. RIP Gene!!
This put a smile on my face. This is my kind of music. Loved Eugene Pitt. We lost him a few years ago May he rest in peace. Do Never Never by Eugene another gem of a song
There has never been anything like Doo Wop. A very unique sound that is distinctive and mostly romantic and sentimental. Listen to “I Remember” by the Five Discs.
@@Mark-iv7np Yes, Lee Andrews & Hearts are a great listen and those are amazing songs. I discovered doo wop around 1999 and have been hooked ever since.
As the gentleman said before me, check out “What Time is It”. There was a live version from a PBS special that’s killer. If you can find it. The lead singer and songwriter is Eugene Pitt, one of my favorite singers. I saw the J Five back in the day at the old Academy of Music on 14th St in NYC, they blew the roof off the place, what voices! Love your channel!
Gene Pitt is a great singer! I'm listening to this 60 years still love it. Time doesn't taint great music. WHAT TIME IS IT is great also. Keep up the good work? 👍
I'm from a family of 13 I'm 11th child no one in my house bk then wen I was 12 in 1979 listen to this kind of music ,I remember hearing some rock n roll an doo wop ive loved it then I still do today I blast rockabilly an doo wop lol people walking by look at my house I don't care I love it forever xxx
Wow, Doo-wop really really had some great songs and lyrics back in the day. I remembered this morning I was a little young but I had sisters who are teenagers when this came out so I heard this music all the time… It was the best of times
I'm from that generation and we used to listen to the boys in our neighborhood sing. They did it in the hallways because the acoustics were great. Those days it was called "harmonizing." Just like you've seen, I'm sure, in movies and such, boys outside in the old neighborhoods practicing their singing. And it was all done "acapella" - no instruments just their pure voices, straight up. And if you couldn't carry a tune you were not singing. Those were the days!!!!
Its great to see youtube reactors playing Doowo, having 3 older sisters I grew up in the 50's listening to this kind of music. Keep up the GREAT music. Might I suggest anything anything by Dion, also know as the King of Doowop
For me, this is the highpoint of the doo-wop era, and interestingly, surely The Jive Five sound was the template for The Four Seasons who followed on shortly after.
In High School there was a classmate that knew them. Their song was going to be introduced on the radio station I think Murry The K, once a week they introduced five new songs and we voted for who we like. She asked we vote for them I did, It was the song. I think was (These Golden Rings) Need to check out their other songs too please.
Frankie Valli, lead singer of the Four Seasons, did a solo version of "Our Day will come." It's somewhat different than the original. But it's worth hearing. I had never been such a fan of the original version, but after Frankie's version, I gave the Romantic's version another chance. Now I love then BOTH!
Do more doo wop please! The talent in back then was truly artistic! And always have a story that you can relate too.

Geater with the heater, the big boss with the hot sauce. I owe him my love of doo Wop and northern soul. ❤️❤️❤️
While I wasn't in my teens at the time I remember those days 👍🏾🎶

I got to dig STREET HARMONY which do great covers of Doowop. Mike Miller is fantastic. He and that group did a great cover What Time is It!
These golden rings I think was the first, introduced I think it was on Murray the K radio show.
One of the best songs ever. Grew up listening to this great music.
I wish they still made great music like that. It's what I grew up with.
He says he wrote this song after his girl left him for his best friend. The Jive Five had some of the best harmonies.
Are you aware of Lee Andrews & Hearts. Great doowop group probably late 60s. I found Teardrops and Long Lonely Nights,to be great!
@@Mark-iv7np Yes, Lee Andrews & Hearts are a great listen and those are amazing songs. I discovered doo wop around 1999 and have been hooked ever since.

I'm glad you found these fellow Brooklyn boys. Little Anthony then The Jive Five. You're really finding Brooklyn's finest.
The Sugar Hill Gang, who did "Rapper's Delight", the first rap song, were from Brooklyn.
@@maryk446 No. They were all from New Jersey. Sugar Hill itself is in the Harlem, which is where they got their name.
Jive Five FANTÁSTICOS
Love it! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Do-Wap is a special art form!
Real good music back then.
Don and Juan, what's your name beautiful doo wop song xxx
A favotite party song back in 61.
Back in the day the doo wop groups would find a place to practice like a hallway or under an overpass because we were looking for an echo
Brooklyn group. I once sang with them. Fun times.
I believe these guys were 14 years old when they recoreded this - in the eighth grade. Hard to believe with the maturity in their voices.
Another good song by them is I’m a happy man.
Please check out There Goes My Baby by the Drifters.
One of my favorite DooWop groups from Brooklyn NY "what time is it" one of my favorite songs by them

How did those guys (and girls) get those voices? Many of them sang gospel in church choirs before they turned to pop or rock.
Play "I'm A Happy Man, ".
One of my fave DooWop tracks. Hey guys, give a listen to The Fiestas " So Fine", The Corsairs " Smoky Places", and The Fascinators " Oh Rosemarie"
