Those are basically Qpad QH90 rebranded (which are beyerdynamics, which are rebranded takstar) but less expensive with an extra earpad. Still they are very good for the bucks, in fact you won't find better "gaming" headset unless you spend 3x times their price (beyerdynamics mmx 300).
they have nothing to do with beyerdynamic. the QH-90 is based off the takstar pro-80, yes, but that is completely different from anything by beyerdynamic. the design is slightly similar but that is all.
I've had these headphones for roughly 6 years. I got my first pair in 7th grade (middle school) and I loved them. After using them every day for years my sister stepped on them shattering one of the ear cups. I still used it for a little bit but I had to get a new pair because it was falling apart to much. I decided I would buy another pair and im still using them as a senior in highshool. The build quality is amazing, I tend to through them around alot after getting frustrated playing rust(if you're familiar with the game you would understand). The quality of the sound is great as well. The only problem I had with them is my mic attached started to not work and was very scratchy (maybe from my rough use). But all in all after having them for six plus years, I would HIGHLY recommend.
HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset - Stuff That Doesn't Suck indeed this Kingston headset is one of the best ive used to far, definitely worth more than it's cost price! I'm really glad Linus reviewed this, the leather is so comfortable on your ears unlike typical headsets that will warm up quickly
Awesome review Linus! I bought my HyperX cloud gaming headset on amazon, it's cheaper compare to in stores, available in 2 colours black and white. Check it out here goo.gl/VQIQdq
Mansen Yeah, no. It's a headset with a removable mic. You're paying for the mic for sure. Why don't you take it to the audio-sub, I want to see SSL yell at you. Linus is wrong, audio sub is wrong, I'm wrong, but you're right, okie dokies.
SimonIsYourBuddy Don't just take my opinion for it. The audio section of a forum exists for a reason. I believe there is a Sennheiser headphone one notch below it with almost the same sound for a cheaper price.
+OhManTFE When they first launched they were probably real leather. Was probably changed sometime later to use leatherette instead. Maybe cheaper/more "ethical". dunno.
It's typical Kingston bait and switch. Once one of their products blows up they silently lower the standards on it and let the product just ride off of its popularity.
My headphones broke and i was looking for a new headset. Usually i never buy without trying but i thought hey if Linus says it's good.. And i bought one.. And it's good! Thanks guys!
As the proud owner of a set of these, I've played Fallout 4 for hours with these on and they are incredibly comfortable to use. When I bought them a year ago, they were number one best seller for headphones on Amazon.co.uk (they've since been overtaken by the Cloud II) and are by far and away the best headset I've ever used
***** I'm about to receive them this week so if they don't live up to the hype i'll let you know although from what I've heard if you don't directly plug them in through the usb dongle it solves the issues( that is if there are any)
I don't know if you will see this LinusTechTips, but thank you so much. For somebody who spent the better part of a day trying to find a mic that fit my needs on a budget, you helped a ton. You gained a subscriber today and my thanks. Keep doing what you do and thanks again.
Got these headphones after looking at forums and watching your review and from others. It's amazing and the sound quality is more than what I was expecting. Thanks Linus for helping me find my new fave pair of headphones!
I was watchin the video while using this headset and I must say EVERYTHING he said about it is true, this headset rocks, buy it if you have 100 bucks and you're in need of a headset!
After I sat on my astros I grabbed these on sale for 60 bucks. Best headset I've owned and I have had Siberias, Astros, and Logitechs. This is my absolute favorite so far.
Decided to pick a pair up after watching this review.. Was not disappointed! After about a month it's still a pleasure to use these both with my pc and ps4. Thanks Linus.
emre balaban I really need to soundproof my basement better. Usually they quiet down with the mention of a tube sock full of raw hamburger as a improvised ball gag though.
The Toyota of gaming headsets, feels like. Just got a pair, and I must say I'm positively impressed. They feel sturdy with all that aluminium and good build quality. Dunno how really durable they are, but first impression, thumbs up. They sound good as well. Not amazing, Sort of coloured and not natural, but they have good detail, especially for gaming. It's a gaming headset, and a cheap one too. Emphasis is on detail, and sound positioning, which is pretty good (even though, they're just stereo). And they don't sound bad really, just not as transparent as I'm used to. Mic is OK, I guess, very adjustable. Not too much ambient / keyboard noise (MX Browns are quite noisy and get picked up by microphones real easy), but not totally silent. Good comfort, a bit tight maybe. Isolate ambient noise really well. Presentation is really good, lots of accessories, quality packaging, and a pair of replacement earpads (which are a pain to install but whatever). Recommended, if looking for an affordable, no-nonsense gaming headset. It sure is gonna be remembered as one of the classics.
Happy with my A40's with the Creative Soundcard... best I've heard. I was OK with Log 930 for the 6 months they lasted, both pairs... but that was until the A40's and they've lasted as long now as both Log's have. Yay Me.
I was very happy with my A40s + mixamp, but I eventually upgraded to ATH-M50s, which IMO sound much better. The Mixamp is still a huge value add though in my opinion, so I've been using that with the M50s as well. Very satisfied overall. If you can get a Mixamp and M50s (or something similar), plus a Zalman clip on mic (they're super cheap on amazon) for around $230 you've basically got a fantastic setup.
It's definitely the nicest gaming headset I've owned so far. Very good audio quality for their price range. As Linus stated they are a bit bass heavy, but I've never had issues with them sounding muddy. I actually like headphones that color the sound a bit towards the bass end, probably something to do with being a bass guitarist. The padding is great on them. I can play for hours on end and I've never had them get uncomfortable. The mic boom is very flexible so it's quite easy to adjust for optimum positioning.
I have just been given a pair of these from one of my best friends mom who after he sadly died a few months back, and i was needing a pair of new headphones as my Bose qc25's have started playing up and these seem great, i switched the cups to the velour as i felt a little uneasy wearing my dead friends headphones, but i'm sure he is happy i'm enjoying them, so shoutout to my mate Dan, thanks for the cups bro, i'll make plenty use out of them and see you on the other side old friend, RIP.
i would have to disagree slightly. there is no extension cable. it also has a shorter but thicker puff filter on the mic and its USB. (as far as i know the cloud 1 is not USB as it does not need it)(cloud 1 has no 7.1 surround)
I'm so glad to find this headset here, I rushed on a really good deal after not quite a responsible amount of research and am not disappointed in the product, it is every bit as good as all the literature I read on it said (throughout day 1); and the official Linus approval just makes me feel better. Thanks Linus!

+Shibe Doge I recently bought these, and is it just me or is the sound from the microphone REALLY teeny tiny? Plugging into the combo jack of my laptop, I can adjust the volume just fine, but when I need to use it on my tower through the included sound card, the volume isn't adjustable on the software side of things, and the microphone volume doesn't go high enough through the remote. It's just a bit of a nitpick since I bought these for $150. The sound great, I'll give it that.
Thank you for giving these headphones the justice they deserve they are affordable at an amazing price for the quality and extremely comfortable I watched the video with them in audiophile heaven as Linus gave this amazing piece of hardware the credit it deserves.
Bought these also for $80 bucks at Amazon!! Now they are $70 via GameStop online only. Great review and agree with all the points. And I now take your information to heart, Linus your reviews are legit and keep it up. Some of your videos helped me build my first PCI :D
SKY-911☆CS:GO☆ Hey nice!!!! i am planning to buy these because this may be my first "real" gaming headset, and i actually have alot of questions and hopefully you can answer them... 1. is the comfort really THAT good? 2. how about the length of the wire? 3. and is the the durability of the cans/wires/connectors or the headset it self good or good enough? 4. how much did you buy it 5. and since you're a csgo player then how good is this headset tracking enemies 6. is the cake a lie. thanks for your answers!!!
Brent Lumanog 1. very comfortable 2. its long but not as long as other headsets 3. its made out of the best products. unlike Logitech products those are plastic. 4. i got it for 80$ 5. i can hear them good and predict where they are at 6. :D my only problem is that there is no volume control on the wire :( so you must always control volume with the PC
the volume is not much of a problem of mine 'cause i control my volume through the keyboard. and did you notice any difference in sound quality when using it in smartphones??
After watching this video, I have decided to purchase these headphones. So far I am quite pleased with the performance. It sounds great plugged into my G750 and quite alright in my ipod. The mic doesn't have high quality output but does its job. I would highly recommend these! Also, they're really comfortable.
I have this headset and it is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend it to anybody else. The level of comfort is pretty much unrivalled. Also, how can you argue with this pricing? I love it. I love it. I love it.
had mine for about a year. Still a solid headset. Had a little trouble with the inline controls having connection issues here and there and the clamping force is a little bit high. They sound good so no complaints there. My cat chewed up the first microphone so I had to replace it which was a very easy. One single email and a paypal transaction and they were able to send me a new one so hats off to them for the good service. As for the leather.... I assure you that no cows were harmed in the making of this headset. It's definitely not real leather.
As much as i like you guys alot, Im unsubbing, There is no DDR3 vs DDR4 , NO 5930K vs 5820K but tons of useless stuff. I dont want these useles stuff, Guess i will add this channel to one of 'check once every 2 weeks' channels
animeman59 Im not calling Linus a bad channel or somethink like that . Im simply saying "im unsubbing because this doesnt cater to my bullshit demands" After all, thats why someone would sub in first place. Linus is best tech channel i have no word to that
I just got these, well the Cloud II. I have to say they are one of the nicest sounding "gaming headsets" I have ever heard. Do not hesitate to buy them if your looking for a nice gaming headset with amazing audio.
Been using these for over a year. between 4 and 8 hours of gaming every day, they are still tight, no fractures. A little distress on the leatherette after a year, but thats only normal. I thought they might be too cheap and therefor not high quality, but they are one of the best headsets I have had. Thats after 23 years of gaming ;)
I'm not surprised that these gaming headsets are actually good in terms of sound quality because they are basically Takstar Pro80 Professional Audio Mixing Monitor Headphones with a microphone attached. I was hunting for earphones that just sounded good without a crazy price and I wasn't really looking for a gaming headphone set specifically, but I bought the HyperX Cloud II just days ago since I was given a chance to test a demo unit and they actually performed well, with tight bass and clear mids that don't bleed all over each other. The only noticeable weakness in sound quality is their somewhat weaker highs, but the problem isn't something bad enough that an equalizer can't easily fix.
I own CloudX's (single jack for controller), bought for Xbox 1, after testing with classical, pop, and other music. They are ALL-DAY comfortable! Also work very well for voice recognition software. They are around ear, light, and very durable. Weak Point: CloudX's have an in-line volume knob that will probably die. Leave it on max and adjust volume elsewhere. Buy Some! You will love them!
Bought this headset after seeing this review and also reading one on The Wirecutter. I gotta say, I'm a big fan! They really are s super comfortable too.
2:38 Dude your freaking funny. Anyone ever tell you that? But seriously, thanks for the review. Ive been eying these headsets for my next purchase and after watching this review, I'm sold.
Just got these a little over USD50. It is a really good headset. Pros: Budget friendly, premium unboxing feel, mic is not crappy, very comfortable earcups, has a broad spectrum of audio although i think the bass is a little weak, removal mic, good looking, 2 years warranty Cons: Not for audiophiles, lack 7.1 surround, lack LEDs, not wireless Its for people who wants a gaming headset, with a budget, and a semi professional look.
i have the hyper X cloud 2. its even better. the mic is better by far and it has simulated surround sound that works perfectly. i have had this headset for 1 year and nothing has gone wrong. the cloud 2 has a few less extras but still has the airplane port the nice box and the velvet ear muffs. i have to say it is by far the best headset for the money. it also works for ps4 and xbox one. it has flat button mic adjuster and volume control as well as a mute button
For the non-audio people: this is the Hyperx reskin of the Takstar Pro 80, a hyper-budget pair of HiFi headphones from china for under $50. This is why they sound better than the other "gaming" headsets. The Coolermaster MH751/752 is another example.
I'M SOLD LinueTechtips. Lol. I did some more research after watching your very informative and honest review and I believe that these are worth the investment. Thanks man. I just made my purchase of the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset. They will be here on Tuesday, so I will return and let you know what I think about them when they get here. Thanks again man. Keep up the GOOD Work.
Everyone in the comments asking "HyperX Cloud or x headphones" just go for the Hyper X Clouds, They are better than any Logitech, Turtle Beach, Razer, most of Steelseries, or Corsair headphone and better than any for their price. Mic is good, they are built well and strong, the sound quality is 10x better than any previous mentioned headphone, and they are comfortable. Get these. No arguments unless you want the Sennheiser Zero/one or the headphones he mentioned in the video.
This is the first headset that survived over 2 years of my abuse. My headset is still in mint condition after being sat on, sling shot of my head rolled over by my chair. After all that no visible scratches anywhere. Detachable mic is awesome. when you are not speaking to somebody something hovering just in/out of you r field of view is is annoying. Base is slightly lower than most "gaming headsets" but is makes up for it by making sure that sound is always 100% clear. Its not just the headset itself. thanks to the design your cabel will not get damaged thanks to tension because it will simple detach long before the force needed to damage the cable is applied.
Great headset. On the basis of this review and others, I decided to get this headset. Worked fantastic for almost six months: great gameplay sound and great microphone. However, despite normal gentle usage there is now intermittent electrical connection where the cable joins the headset. I'm currently testing the warranty service of Kingston. Summary: - super bargain of a pricer the audio quality and comfort. - durability an issue, but at the current price point of
As a already owner of the hyperX core head set. I am VERY happy with the set up. yes the mic is a little "MEH" but the sound Nerfing makes me very pleased. I got mine a little under a year now. I bought these to replace my base line turtle beach. Moneys well spent
Hej Linus, just a friendly tip: even though you have a beautiful gear setup, I think the constant cuts when detailing up close really cheapen the otherwise excellent production. Maybe you should consider longer and slower continuous shots. Thanks!
I have that headset. But that thin cable was a shame, it's broken too fast. But I felt in love so much with the feeling that headset gave that I've bought then Cloud II and own now Cloud Mix.

This is like, the LTT forum audio-sub's favorite headset. Still: Headsets are a level beneath real headphones with an aftermarket microphone solution.
What do you think of the Sennheiser HD598s for music and BF3 on the side?
You seem confused - This is a pair of headphones, not a headset.
People always get this wrong.

Wow, amazing value for the money. But i hope it doesnt give you STD.
R.I.P. Cows for Linus ears
I OWN THESE headsets! if you have any questions ill reply!
4. how much did you buy it
5. and since you're a csgo player then how good is this headset tracking enemies
6. is the cake a lie.
thanks for your answers!!!
Brent Lumanog
1. very comfortable
2. its long but not as long as other headsets
3. its made out of the best products. unlike Logitech products those are plastic.
4. i got it for 80$
5. i can hear them good and predict where they are at
6. :D
my only problem is that there is no volume control on the wire :( so you must always control volume with the PC
the volume is not much of a problem of mine 'cause i control my volume through the keyboard. and did you notice any difference in sound quality when using it in smartphones??
Brent Lumanog
on my phone when i listen to music my ears cry :( the sound is so clear and the BASS
MrCiastku
its very good but my main problem there is no audio control on the headphone you have to change the audio your self using windows settings
After watching this video, I have decided to purchase these headphones. So far I am quite pleased with the performance. It sounds great plugged into my G750 and quite alright in my ipod. The mic doesn't have high quality output but does its job. I would highly recommend these! Also, they're really comfortable.
Listening to you while wearing the Cloud Silver. This is sooooo sweet.
These block off sound almost too well for me, I have difficulties hearing my own voice which feels weird.
A very nice feature for me.
+True Velox I've connected them to my Razer Seiren, works perfect.
hyper Fresh okay?
+True Velox you are just jelly
+True Velox I heard that the velour covered pads that are included let sound through a bit better. You might have to try those on.
Thoughts on the Hyper X Cloud II?
aroguejordan better
Lol it's not leather
Shravan Kothari it is lol
Jack Jones I have these headphones, it's mentioned in the manual sheet that it's pleather. Plus I'm pretty sure it's on their website.
Shravan Kothari yeah I have these headphones too...
The hyper x cloud 2 are pleather. The first ones are genuine leather.
Jessica Fleischauer theyre leathurette
We haven't been in the office. Sorry, but benchmarks are very time consuming to do them right so we would rather wait until we can.
There's already heaps of channels doing that stuff. Why would you watch LMG do the same tests with very similar products? Don't be butthurt
Seriously? Are you that fucking petty, because ONE youtube channel doesn't cater to your bullshit demands?
For such detail stuff, I prefer READ it somewhere else. Linus's content is exactly what I expect to WATCH. It's just me anyway :)
animeman59 Im not calling Linus a bad channel or somethink like that . Im simply saying "im unsubbing because this doesnt cater to my bullshit demands" After all, thats why someone would sub in first place. Linus is best tech channel i have no word to that
Anyone else unable to load past 4:21? It just stops buffering right there after automatically changing quality from 1080p to 480p.
getting the same problem stops at 4:20 for me >.> #blazeit
Bought this headset 6 years ago because of this video. No regrets, great headset and the size adjustment mentioned at 5:06 still works perfectly!
Are they worth it I just bought the razer Kraken tournament edition and the mic is earrape so Im returning it tomorrow then buying these
@@reillymcginley5770 i recently switched my razor kraken tournament editions for the hyperx cloud 2s and they so much better. I highly recommend them.
@@reillymcginley5770 save up some extra 30 dollars then get the alpha s cause they're even better i promise
@@haru8213 I already bought it and it's a really good headset
I just got these, well the Cloud II. I have to say they are one of the nicest sounding "gaming headsets" I have ever heard.
Do not hesitate to buy them if your looking for a nice gaming headset with amazing audio.
the mic's really quiet, as in, inaudibly quiet
Conga adjust input volume of the mic through the recording device manager in windows, if you haven’t already
talk louder
DutchBrony lol problem solved
exotic_ sk11s that's perfect for me because im really loud
im watching this video with a corsair vengeance 2100.... ill just leave..... ok
trollolololololololololololololol
YOU DARE HURT COWS!!!!
TREASON
You truly don't realize the cows value until it is gone, so KEEP THE COWS!
R/whooooosh
Been using these for over a year. between 4 and 8 hours of gaming every day, they are still tight, no fractures. A little distress on the leatherette after a year, but thats only normal. I thought they might be too cheap and therefor not high quality, but they are one of the best headsets I have had. Thats after 23 years of gaming ;)
I ordered one of these, it's coming in tomorrow. I've been really excited about it.
***** Mmhm, worth every penny in my opinion.
***** XD I'm not being sarcastic haha I honestly really like it
RiokuTheSlayer is the hdset broken? do you regret buying them?
***** No, I love it. not broken
I'll use this on my future gameplays for UA-cam the mic is really nice, thanks linus
ahh the old intro!! So much memory, such nostalgia!
I missed these in the 7.1 headset video! Absolutely the best price/quality ratio of all headsets around right now imo
Got these for 70 bucks on amazon.ca and glad to watch this review shortly after. Can't wait to get them now!
Good job Kingston, you made linus do this video and now I own a pair! Thanks kingston... +1
2020 i still rock with these ones!
I got these headphones as a gift, and I am satisfied with this product.. Comfortable, and the sound picks up nicely especially for FPS gamers..
Buy Some! You will love them!
just ordered these.will be my 1st headset.
Pros:
Budget friendly, premium unboxing feel, mic is not crappy, very comfortable earcups, has a broad spectrum of audio although i think the bass is a little weak, removal mic, good looking, 2 years warranty
Cons:
Not for audiophiles, lack 7.1 surround, lack LEDs, not wireless
Its for people who wants a gaming headset, with a budget, and a semi professional look.
i have the hyper X cloud 2. its even better. the mic is better by far and it has simulated surround sound that works perfectly. i have had this headset for 1 year and nothing has gone wrong. the cloud 2 has a few less extras but still has the airplane port the nice box and the velvet ear muffs. i have to say it is by far the best headset for the money. it also works for ps4 and xbox one. it has flat button mic adjuster and volume control as well as a mute button
For the non-audio people: this is the Hyperx reskin of the Takstar Pro 80, a hyper-budget pair of HiFi headphones from china for under $50. This is why they sound better than the other "gaming" headsets. The Coolermaster MH751/752 is another example.
Thanks Linus
Buying them tomorrow!!!
Linus did it again. Great product. Wonder if he's tried the HyperX Revolver headset yet? OMG ARE THEy great!
Hey linus bought it after i saw your review .... Damn i dont regret the best gaming headphones.
Summary:
- super bargain of a pricer the audio quality and comfort.
- durability an issue, but at the current price point of
Just got a pair of these on Amazon for $60. Can't wait to try them out!
Liked the video because you said "dislike if you didn't like". Also will be getting Cloud 2 today, hopefully its good
Great review. Thanks for hard work. Purchasing now...
2:38 = "what did cows do for me anyway ?" hahahah Linus, Linus :D
As a already owner of the hyperX core head set. I am VERY happy with the set up. yes the mic is a little "MEH" but the sound Nerfing makes me very pleased. I got mine a little under a year now.
I bought these to replace my base line turtle beach. Moneys well spent
Hej Linus, just a friendly tip: even though you have a beautiful gear setup, I think the constant cuts when detailing up close really cheapen the otherwise excellent production. Maybe you should consider longer and slower continuous shots. Thanks!
Thanks for the video Linus. HyperX ordered.
I only just found this channel as i was looking for reviews of the different hyperx clouds and hot damn you do a good review.
I just got one and they sound amazing!
Just got mine in! They are awesome!
I have that headset. But that thin cable was a shame, it's broken too fast. But I felt in love so much with the feeling that headset gave that I've bought then Cloud II and own now Cloud Mix.
Hey Linus, thank you for recommending the HyperX Cloud Headset. Bought one yesterday and it is just awesome! Thx mate!
The design has some beyerdynamic touches!!
Great stuff, going to buy this
