First of all, thank you! For making this video, since the thriving of media where we could see inter-cultures easily nowadays, so many are fabricated, romanticised, highlighted only in certain area, these all soft-power and attention-economy play to get more and more views... these are all good for eye-opening and open mindedness for momentarily happiness and entertainment, but we shall also pause for a while to remind ourselves to not objectifying things in our heads just from all those media we see on screens, and keep going back to reality either by seeing them as subject of interaction that also has flaws and uninteresting stuff, by getting to know them deeper, and appreciate them as a whole. Thank you for sharing your mind upon this topic ^^
hi! i deeply appreciate the comment. your regard on soft-power and attention-economy were exactly the terms i was hoping to vocalize in this video. i think we shouldn't take things up at face-value and really learn the deepness of a country's culture--i feel that in that way, we can truly appreciate it, otherwise we are subjected to romanticization of them. i think it's really up to how willing you are to learn, because every culture has its own deeprooted history, why it is formed the way it is, why it possesses certain mentalities--and to center on one thing wont exactly give you the entire experience of that culture. i'm glad i was able to resonate with you:)!
Great video!! I wish more people could understand their ignorance. We've all internalized some bias purely from the content we watch online, and it's great to talk about it. Also, don't apologize for speaking slowly, you speak at a normal pace that's easy to understand
i agree, it's become a common practice nowadays to assume things are just the way it is when there are reasons, history, behind their values and mentality, especially through numerous social media. and, thank you very much! i'll keep it up!
When I was listening to your point about the romanticisation of Russian men and women and how people say they provide and look like models, it reminded me of how I also feel victim to the act of romanticising them as well. I once thought to myself “I’m gonna get myself a Russian man😃” too, while I knew absolutely nothing about them and have never been to Russia myself🧍🏽♀️🧍🏽♀️
yeah, i was also a person who romanticized russians as well. it was their mentality that i liked--that they're willing to provide for the woman, that they believe it should solely be them to pay for everything, when in reality, that can be present in anyone, amongst many other countries and cultures. the sole fact that they're russian is what i was looking for. anyway, i'm glad that you've gained some awareness from it!:)
