  • I spared you from watching me get them out, trust me is wasn't too fun. Anyway, I will have the work done on the spindles done this week along with ordering other needed parts(front spings, shocks, and some assorted rubber bushings.

Thanks Boss, my rollback is the first vehicle that I've had to service just about everything on. (Previous owner really put it through the ringer!) I remember hearing about KINGPINS, but never quite knew what they were.... As embarrassing as that may be, I appreciate this video putting it into a visual that is easy to comprehend. As well as you not going over the top explaining things that aren't really relevant to the topic!!
Makes it really easy to follow, and comprehend! THANK YOU!!!
If you'll excuse me, I'm off to go get my kingpins and wheel bearings sorted!!

I would imagine there aren't many people left who know enough to climb under a truck and grease it on a regular basis.

I hope I don't have to do this to my truck, it has 231,000 miles on it lol. It drives fine and nothing seems very loose but I guess I'll find out when I service the wheel bearings.

For future viewers, it is not advisable to use heat to remove king pins per my Stemco Kaiser removal instructions.

I think ford was using nylon bushings for a while for some reason, but nun of it maters if no one ever greases them.

Gets dangerous due to hitting a bump at around 65 70 causes my 96 to go into a death wobble that u have to pull over in order to get it stopped. Avoid holes !!

Are those free floating pins? I changed a lot of VW Beetle kingpins but that was a long time ago..

Nope. An oxy acetylene torch and an impact driver are the way to go. They are not that terribly different from a Model T. No joke to do. The bushings need to be reamed precisely as well. Really good grease once a month make huge difference. One trick that works mostly is to get the tires reset on the rims, inside face out. Drives a little squirrelly at first, but evens out the wear. Two tons and five ton trucks are usually easier. Mostly. Drilling out the cross pin that holds the kingpin happens a lot. It gets mushed.

Use Stemco QwickKit KE350F No reaming required
