Why is Zelenskyy doing this review?
Lmfao
I was thinking the same thing! XD
Gotta secure the bag for more guided missiles. Oh wait.. Biden just gives it to them
I know, right!
Lol
People say Civ 6 is dumbed down, but I disagree. Someone on the forums once said something similar to:
"The complexity of the game has actually increased from the previous titles. The AI can't handle that complexity and hence it's easier for us to win a game on the same difficulty level."
As a loooong time Civ fanboi (playing since civ2), I completely agree with this statement.
There are so many more ways to go about when you're planning out strategies. Sure we lost complexity in for example specialists but we got it back in other aspects like city districts or builder charges. Ofcourse it's easier for AI to just add or subtract some population in a city, compared to thinking ahead for dozens of turns (eg: planning out district groups, planning wonders next to districts in the future, how a leader ability works in symbiosis with for example a religion, etc. etc.). Don't be fooled though. It will take you months to beat the game on the highest difficulty for the first time.
My point: don't listen to the 30+ year olds (even though I'm one of them) that have played Civ since their childhood and hate that the franchise is becoming something different in this day and age. If I could get myself to get used to the cartoony graphics (I fkn haaated it!) after thousands of hours on the previous games, then so can you. Yes the game has glaring issues. But it's still fun. Try it out for yourself on a sale! I'm sure you won't be disappointed as much as 'they' say.
incredibly helpful comment, I've never played civilization at all and was looking to pick it up since it's on sale for $6.00 right now. I'll start with civ VI!
@@rossgruenberg9700 Nice!!
It can be an incredibly complex game if you really get into it. With lots of fine details and playstyles. But at first that won't matter. Just build, grow or conquer your empires however you like!
Many options to tweak like the map or starting conditions. But I definitely recommend playing on lower difficulties if you havn't played much grand strategy or 4X games. The higher difficulties or even deity needs very specific strategies. But it's very doable, so :D Good luck emperor! Or dictator. Or uhh, whatever you're going to be hihi.
o7
@@rossgruenberg9700 If you wanna start, I'd go with V. Graphically (outside of the wonders building on tiles) it beats VI. Other aspects are not even close. VI feels like every time you have to play a balanced game, otherwise you fall behind in certain aspects. In V you could go all in for one strategy and there's a good chance you will dominate. I'm awaiting VII, curious what it's going to bring.
Thank you. That was all the convincing I needed. The game is now on sale on Steam so I will definitely be picking it up. Thanks again.
fiver - price of a pint thesedays
That’s cool I like the fact you always go straight to the point and just tell us if it’s good or not, you do it different I like that🤙
Been waiting a long time to get this game for a reasonable price. Just got it with all the dlc for $30 on Steam.
I just seen that today? Recommend it with the dlcs for 30 or just the game for 10? Or recommend it at all cause people seem to hate it.
@@mattmlo12 I personally wouldn't bother without getting all the DLC. I tend to wait for a "game of the year" or other, complete, edition of a game to go on sale before I buy it. I look at it from a board gamer's and collector's perspective though. I need value for my money, and I like complete sets.
But yeah, if you like the previous ones, or just want a strategy game that puts all mobile "strategy" games in the dirt, can't go wrong with Civ 6.
@@mattmlo12 I highly recommend the DLC for this game. With some games the DLC only add minor improvements or a few new campaign experiences; with civ 6 the DLCs enhance the game
to the point that it made it almost an entirely new experience. The two DLC packs really improve the game. If you fall in love with the game like I did you definitely want those and if you tend to watch tips and tricks videos on UA-cam you’ll need them as well because many of the game mechanics change with the DLCs and practically all of the content creators that post civ 6 content use them. They really do make the game much better but quite a bit different than the vanilla version
I would also recommend the season pass because it adds tons of new civs,. leaders and game modes that make the replayability skyrocket. Some of the game modes, specifically secret societies and heroes and legends, seem to be designed to cut down the turns of the end game grind, probably the #1 compliant of people who didn’t like the game. Those game modes help with that a lot because they help you win (or lose) in fewer turns (you could also simply reduce the number of turns before the game ends with a score victory for someone, one of the 6 possible win conditions)
It’s possible you won’t like the game so it’s risky i suppose but I got the DLC when I bought the original game and I do not regret it one bit. This is one of my favorite games Ive ever played; it will largely depend on if you like turn based strategy games in general.
Buy Anthology
$5.99 on steam right now. just got it. lol
I'm a big civ 5 fan, I'd like to make the switch to 6 but as many people say it isn't as good I think I'll just stay on 5.
It is better than 5.
I think 5 is better looking, and there are some big differences but it's quite good and expansive
If you still havent switched over now is the time, civ 6 with most dlc is cheap and i love 5&6 but 6 takes the cake for me
It’s like any other follow up game. It improved in some areas, it downgraded in other areas; they added some stuff, removed some stuff…
I found it ok. But all of the infamous “bad guys” are taken out so the game feels kind of watered down and cartoony. And good luck starting from ancient era because ITS SO SLOW AND BORING until you get like 4 era’s in.
Mabye try humankind? I like that better than civ 6 imo
Civilization 1 is still the best. The simplest and yet the most intuitive one with all the basic concepts of all civ games.
Civ 2 Test of time (original extended version) Civ 1 was too easy because of the rapid expansion after building an aqueduct to go beyond population of 7. Civ 2 corrected this by making you research the additional sanitation technology before you can get your population beyond 12 in addition to being stuck at 7 without an aqueduct.
You must be on the spectrum if you truly believe that.
Pop 10, i think it was.
What about freeciv?
@@llm-reacts Freeciv is civ1's free copycat. It is basically the same game.
You would think that Volodymyr Zelensky would be busy with other things than reviewing videogames
Love this game. I play it on my Switch then transfer the save to Windows and Max. Brilliant.
on sale on steam right now for £4.99 until 22nd november :)
For that price worth it you can get fun hours out
Civ 6 is probably my favorite game of all time and I think its one of the best games to ever be developed. Such a fantastic experience.
It's currently on sale until November 22 for $5.99 in the US.
The only thing that I dislike about the game is how crowded the default settings are.
I'll set the map to huge, small continents, and run into 3 city states and two rival civs in 8 turns. I can't move. I can't expand, when the AI literally starts with a two settler advantage.
Even removing several civs and city-states, and I'm still packed in with multiple city states and at least one other civ. It seems like the game is designed that way to swarm you.
Today (juni 17 2024) bought the basegame for just €2,99. I’m so exited to play it. 😃
THERES NO WAY ITS ON SALE FOR 3 DOLLARS
first time i see a youtuber saying yes or no as soon as the video starts had to give you a like for that
"You don't really control the battle."
That's a bit misleading. There are offensive bonuses like flank damage, because the way you're units are facing matters. Then there's defensive bonuses like being attacked on a hill, being attacked across a river, or holding defense position. Bonuses can stack.
The combat is setup so you must manipulate the environment to maximize your effectiveness. It's also setup so you can bait enemies into chasing you, all so you can mount an offensive in a strategic position. Just like battles and war.
What I meant that you don't take direct control of the troops on a battlefield like for example in Total War games. Instead all is based on stats of troops, environment and position towards an enemy.
That was what I meant. Maybe my wording was not 100% on point
ALL THOSE OFFENSIVE BONUSES DONT MEAN SHIT ON DEITY !! YOU PEOPLE NEED TO STOP ACTING LIKE YOU DONT RESTART THE FUCKING GAME 50 TIMES JUST TO GET THE RIGHT START ! HOW THE FUCK DO THOSE BONUSES HELP WHEN YOU HAVE 9 LEGIONS PLUS 4 MORE ON THE WAY AT YOUR DOOR STEP BY TURN 15 ?????????? THIS GAME IS PITIFUL ! YOU ARE FORCED TO PLAY CIVS A CERTAIN WAY IF NOT THE "AI" WILL SPAWN UNITS EVEN UNDER SEIGE !!! FUCKING STUPID !
I liked the base game, and got it free when they were doing a promo.
After putting tons of hours on it - I bought 2 of the DLCs (1st round of civ packs and Rise and Fall).
HORRIBLE mistake.
The game crashes all the time now.
They broke the trade/gold system.
Governors/eras/loyalty is all just an annoyance.
And I still liked the base civs better.
If you do get it - don't waste your money on the DLCs.
I would have gotten a refund if I could have.
But good luck getting through the minefield of various companies involved - who all blame the other guy and tell you to contact them.
WoW! I just manage to got it for a really dirt cheap price for my switch and saw your reply. Is that bad? Thank god, I will start playing my base game first and see how it goes.
@@cheapskateotaku7123 It turns out the crashing was coming from Rise and Fall.
So the new civilization packs are still playable.
And once you get used to how gold/trade works in the base game - you'll se why Rise and Fall is unplayable, anyway.
@@LavishPatchKid I see, I never played any of this series game. So I'm going in with hope to enjoy the game as long is good. Since I notice many have sad the previous games are better and this is just trash.
I like the final expansion, natural disasters and a world conference system. Pretty cool.
@@EastCoastGamerXyeah it’s worth the money because basic civ gets boring.
NOV 9 on sale for $5 on steam
The warning about this game is it can take very very long ( relative to other games)to develop your faction to max tech.....
I recent stopped a game I started cuz i realized it was taking too much time and energy .....
An easy way to compensate for this problem is to set the turn victory to a lower number. For example, I keep my top 10 fastest games in my hall of fame; out of those 10 games, my slowest win is 268 turns. So now I set my turn limit to 268. The game still plays the exact same, the only difference is if it reaches turn 268 I will either win a score victory or lose on score
this cuts down on the really grindy endgames and makes the game more exciting because it’s a tighter window to stay ahead of the AI
Very good review .. thanx Bud!!
Thank you m8, I'll get the DLCs, which were what I was kinda hesitant on
August 24, 2022
I’ve actually never played a Civilization game. Do you all think I should get it for iOS as the base game is only 10 dollars for the US? I’ve heard people say it crashes on various platforms and it’s garbage so I just want to make sure. Also do you all think I should get both DLCs for 70 dollars
Ps. I heard a rumor that Civilization 6 was firstly developed for Mobile in mind so that’s why it looks different and lacks things from Civilization 5
Please get it on pc its literally night and day and so much worth The value rather than phone its cheap at the moment too
CIv 5 was my first dont really know why the 6 did not stick for me
Thank you for the helpful video. I was wondering if you or anyone knew a game very similar to warhamer dawn of war dark crusade? Or like age of empires style. I can seem to find a game that's similar to that playing style
I got this game for like almost 1.5 dollars 😳 and i was thinking it's gonna be good or not actually after watching this video i realised it's not gonna be played by me much I'm not interested in playstyle that much but still gonna keep it in library so i can play it when I wanted to try something new
Currently £4.99 on steam
quickly becoming one of my favorite creators
On G2A the base game is at 4 euros and 17 euros the anthology one
i like to play it with domination, but i hate very very late game
Civilizaton 6 is now available USD 4/- on steam. I am definitely buying it
Great review
I want to download it. Before doing so, I'm curious if there is a new civ around the corner.
Probably not for at least a year.
@@Nyxson thanks mate 💪🏻
platinum edition on steam is $9 RIGHT NOW!!!
Im so late to this Video but as a South African looking at that price breakdown is ridiculous, We are literally paying the most for this game.... to put it into perspective the game is R899 the minimum wage worker makes around just over R3000.00-R5000, the way we are listed on Steam is insane.
It goes on sale *a lot* .
Don’t buy for full price, I got my copy + all DLC for $40
It’s now on GAME PASS.
now there is a sale and its 6,42 dollar (sorry for my bad english)
I just purchased the game on STEAM with ALL the DLC for $15.81 after tax.
Fantastic deal
Me three, so far is really interesting.
It’s 10$ on Mac right now
Right now its on Summer Sale, i do enjoy PVP but i fear ill get stomped
Its $60.00 on Steam and I have never seen it for less.
Go to Steamdb.info and search for Civilization VI. You will see that it was literally $5.99 from February 16th till March 2nd. And it is on such sales VERY often. You should look more often, or add it to Wish list, this way you will be notified when it is on sale.
Was fun the beginning but it gets very monotonous after. Wouldnt buy it for 50+ euros
Who knew that Zelensky became such a great leader by playing Civ?
he's a puppet clown...knock it off...
lmaoo i was thinking the same thing..💀
He likes the domination victory
Except he failed in late game, Russian expansion wasn't stopped.
I got it recently on steam 90%off
Good review.
I like strategy, history, medieval type games but never played civ and never got drawn in despite being seemingly popular. It just doesn't look fun.
Though the same. And I was wrong
Have you tried it yet?
Its 24 dollars right now with all DLC.
To little honesty, to much flowers.
€5,99 on Steam sow bought it instantly :D
hang on, did bro just casually post a money glitch???
dont buy it. If you do be prepared to suffer from Barbarian Swarms and dying in 30 turns
skill issue
Or you can turn barbarian OFF, lol/ GitGud
Thats actually good
Got this at $3.99 on switch
Will never play it. Even if given to me free. Hate the district concept completely. To be honest, almost every change Civ VI made sucks. While first evaluating the game I watched a lot of youtubers play it. Didn't finish any of the series, the game was that boring. (same group of people I watched fully playing Civ IV and V) The AI is non-existent and I don't think single player, anywhere, has ever lost a game... I doubt anyone is that bad at a Civ game.
I got mine for free in the middle of last yearon epic
Thankkkkks
Bruv, I can see cookie crumbs on your shirt and beard
Yeah… not cookie though… on the beard those are stray grey hair, and in combination with this lighting looks like crumbs… on the shirt… those are skin flakes, I had a skin condition back then. Literally had to clean my shirt every 2 minutes… sorry about that
I had no idea Zelensky had his own personal youtube channel
is it anything like advanced wars 🤣 thats litterally the only battle sim thing ive ever played lol.
the best to be fair
@@Outsider_aa yea i love it lol
Late reply but... Actually it kinda is yeah! Just 100 times more complex and way longer matches :P
@@SidMajors i will have to give it a shot lol i never did for some reason. i like advanced wars cause its kinda like chess. thits looks like 4d chess 🤣 i think i could get into it.
@@colonelradec5956 Haha well I do always explain to people Civ is kinda like chess! Maybe add the Risk and Catan board games, and you pretty much got Civilization :3
I'm very biased though, I've been playing this franchise for 20 years now. But I do think I can recommend it if you love Advance Wars!
Yes
Humankind, +.
You look like Volodymyr Zelensky :)
President Zelenskyy?
Buy Anthology
steeeeaaam sale, 7$$$
No
Thank you Zelensky
age of empires is better
The game is not worth playing. I have spent 100 hours in CIV 4 and 400 hours in CIV 5 and these games are amazing and much better than CIV 6. CIV 6 has so many bad design elements, every change from 5 is worse and the game just feels bad to play. 4 and 5 are better.
@@iLikeRNG A co ma do rzeczy, że Polak?
how many hours do you have in civ 6
5 is astronomically better..
No it isnt the game is garbage
No it's not
More than Beyond Earth?
