The game is still a beast in the grand strategy genre which is why people are still playing but I can't recommend it for the price. They still want £300 for the full bundle. £250 if you shop around outside of Steam. That is ridiculous for a game that is almost a decade old. If you can get it for what the people below are claiming then sure, it's more than worth it.

I'd recommend picking up the game and its dlc on sale. It's worth a try but factor in the cost of essential dlc (art of war + rights of man + common sense) which brings the cost to around €40 to €50 at best so make sure you have some interest before trying. Ignore what everyone says about this game costing hundreds because the other dlc is very optional and you can spend hundreds of hours between each dlc purchase.
They have this on Humble Bundle right now, full game all DLCs (CA$25.66 for these 33 items). For that price, would you jump in to get everything, or no?
Absolutely. I’ve been waiting years for a deal like this so I could finally afford to play this game as it’s meant to be played. I’m telling everyone I know who even has a slight chance of being interested because you aren’t going to beat this price short of piracy, and it’s entirely worth the price if you enjoy grand strategy

Frankly, when I was younger, in my 20's, 30's even, I would spend HOURS playing strategy games like Civilization etc which took up massive amounts of your life hours. Now however, I have less life hours and can not justify devoting many hours to learn how to play a complex game.......Now I want a game that I can master in a few hours, haha. Ok, at most a day.

yea but its very simplistic tutorial that does not teach you much. you need to just dive into it and learn from your mistakes. people have hundreds of hours in this game and they are still considered noobs
If nothing has changed from when I last played 4ish years ago. Don't try the Frederick the Great start date. Build and form prussia yourself from the early start. Otherwise the game will give you a mismanaged Prussia with tiny armies compared to your enemies. Self-formed prussia however, yeah enjoy overrunning a hundredthousand men with your 30k Elite troops.
u need El dorado DLC and when ur picking country to play u have at the left-down corner "custom nations" ur pressing it and first u have to pick the capital (just simply click one province on the map) and later pick another terrain of ur nation. u can name it, change the flag, change gov, culture and religion, and troop's skin. yea eu4 is kinda trash without DLC. it's more annoying if there is like 20 DLC and all of them cost at least 30$.. this is embarrassing for the paradox interactive...
Is there any way to turn an ironman save back to normal save and then back to ironman again? I've screwed the pooch on my Mamluk playthru and was hoping to find a cheat to get rid of this estate thing i accidentally took that gave me land but minimum autonomy on all provinces of 25% - i was thinking it was just for 20 years but it wont let me get rid of it cos im permanently on 70% influence & 30-40% loyalty... so im basically (although doing well in every other way) - broke due to high autonomy and permanently on 20-27% crown land cos i cant ever seize land.. ive done like 70 years without being able to change my estates, get land, decrease autonomy and having not much money.. i need someone to either advise me how to get rid of it without cheating or if not a way i can console command it out of existence & return it to being ironman... or just quit playing as mamluks and probably noever go back to trying ever again cos its pissing me off that just due to one error my entire playthru is screwed! Any advice from people would be welcome! thanks...this is only my second ever ironman playthru...
come on, Kevin. Its called ironman for a reason! you was aware of that when you started the game. If you wanted to save scum there always is normal. me i only play all paradox games only on ironman cause it makes it so much more rewarding. and you learn so much more effectively since you have to pay attention. that being said i failed quite some games myself but thats part of the fun. try again fail better. to your queation though im pretty sure there is no such thing that you request. ironman is saved in a single file that gets overwritten in a certain interval, every 1st of month. so, the only way i see to cheat is in that short period before the next save. alt+tab to desktop and close application and restart. should set you back to the start of the actual month. no solution to your problem im afraid. just give it another go and more luck next time!
@@MrDschiesus i dont see why an entire playthru should be f*cked up just cos i dont know some stupid rules that they never bother to explain. one wrong click & ur f*cked for the entire playthru.. at least they should put an option to get rid of them.. its like that general one that adds 5 influence every general you get? why even bother having that? it makes it a certainty u will have 100 influence forever so no one is going to take it unless they are a noob or dumb.. its like they put tricks in the game to screw you over.. i want ironman because i want to save scum less not so i so i cant do it altogether. i still ctrl alt delete out of the game if really bad things happen.. and reload.. but in normal i pretty much reload every single siege if mine dont move forward or dont win on 35% and if im fighting a tough enemy like ottomans i make sure they never win their sieges ... the game likes to cheat by having my sieges stay on the same % and enemies always jump 14 or 21% if the game cheats i will save scum.. they should make a fair game if they dont like it.. also i doubt i will do many more ironman modes ive already done 2 and done really well, mamluks & zimbabwe.. i got 28 achievements. i looked at the achievement list and most of them seem extremely specific based on nations.. i cant be bothered to play every nation in the game just to get one achievement every playthru.. there is no luck in this game.. the game cheats more than any game ive ever played.. the more you save scum the more you will realise it... just reload your 49% chance 9 times before getting your siege, or the enemy magically getting theirs just before your army gets there on 14% etc etc.. you will notice the percentages are a big lie... and its nothing to do with nation.. it does it for all enemy nations no matter who they are. it does it before they have artillery and when they have no siege pips... the game cheats 100% of the time.. the only way to get a fair fight is to save scum.. or be amazingly good at the game.. most youtubers doing it have like 10,000 hours or more experience and are really bright...
@@jkraemo ITS PRETTY HARD there seems to be virtually no difference between very easy and normal mode and iron man to be honest... less manpower and maybe the ai is a bir more aggressive otherwise all seem virtually the same difficulty.. ie nothing for beginners.. the only difference is in ironman you have to just try to ignore all the ai cheating & take it up the poop shoot... and all the bad events... and the magic sieging enemies.. and the teleporting enemies that move 3 provinces in one go when they pop into the fog of war etc.. like ive said many times its extremely hard.. at least to do well.. but i guess i dont know as much as other people and i kinda play the game like i used to play civ 4... i am gradually changing.. ie not caring when annoying little units piss about and carpet siege non fort land.. in civ 4 id make a line of units and make sure no enemy gets on my land.. and attack attack attack.. this game is different.. its like.. yeah go on my land siege my city.. it just wastes time and i will attack you their later & have less men die etc.. i mainly save scum in the first 50-100 years when im small. but im often playing custom nation opms or small nations.. i guess i should have gotten good at the game first playing the main big nations
