Luthor was trying to manipulate Superboy into joining him, while for Roy he just wanted to calm his thirst for revenge

If that's all he wanted he could have let his goons turn Speedy into swiss cheese. Yeah he might have lost an arm but given LexTech? Not a big loss.

The betrayal and misdirection is very strong with this show. And each season takes it up a notch.
You have to feel for Speedy, but the gut-punch of The Team finding out they never knew the original and all their interactions have been with a clone. AND the older clone, Guardian coming to terms with being an aged version of Speedy - the Light was seriously practicing with genetic manipulation to another level.
Wally visiting Artemis' tombstone with her mother (formerly Huntress) is very rough - especially with KF having to play the role of a grieving boyfriend. That would have been something I wished they centered on more.
Nightwing, Aqualad, Artemis and Kid Flash being the only ones who know the "secret" is rife with complications that I hope don't bite them in the end.

Season 2 could have done with the extra six episodes of the previous season (and the two to follow), as you can see the story needed to be more condensed in order to still be fully cohesive.

I do love that Roy doesn’t get upset with Red Arrow for being a clone, he actually knew who to direct his anger at and not lash out for no reason

8:31 Mercy Graves in this show is a human with cybernetic enhancements. That concept was also introduced in more recent years but that was not the case originally. Mercy was an original character for the DCAU introduced in Superman The Animated Series and she was so popular and well liked that she was quickly incorporated in the comics. Originally she was just a person but now she is more known for having cybernetic enhancements.

I love that Lex has Otis as the leader of his security. It's a neat callback to the Superman movies.

I love that this show streamlined the confusion of “Red Arrow,” “Arsenal,” and “Jim Harper” by just saying “It’s clones”

Jim was originally a Golden Age hero, wasn’t he? Then again so was Speedy, and Green Arrow for that matter... Trying to keep a lot of characters decades after their introductory time periods, while some aren’t, is a big mess that comics just can’t shake with their bad habits.
While I don’t love or prefer every choice this series makes as an overarching DC Adaptation, it does a lot in terms of making this a larger, cohesive world in which people grow older and things shift around them. The Golden Age still happened during the 1940s, with the Justice Society active until the 1950s; of that old guard seemingly just the original Flash, Jay Garrick is still alive now, as Kent Nelson/Dr. Fate succumbed to old age last season. Greg Weismann also confirmed stuff like Icicle Snr. being a much older villain who survived being frozen for decades due to his powers (hence having a teen/young adult son in the 2010s), and the current Black Canary’s mother, Dinah Drake was active as a solo hero in the 1980s.

In this episode when the real Roy Harper finally woke up, as expected he was totally pissed about what happened to him for eight years and how Green Arrow didn't even know the real him was missing after finding the clone. Also you're right about how he was sorta handled himself against Lex and his cyborg bodyguard Mercy pretty well.

I love this episode. Really shows how much Red Arrow must be holding back so he doesn't hurt anyone too badly.... because Arsenal is a beast!

Gotta say, man- I've been following your YJ on Patreon and I've been having a blast reliving the series through your reactions!
    Love this channel.
This is definitely my favorite version of Lex Luthor. He's so smart that things like his life being in danger just amused him.
    He never loses his cool.

I really love the angle they took in the show by having one Roy take up the mantle of Red Arrow and another of Arsenal because in the comics the name change was quite convoluted originally until he eventually went back to Arsenal. They did leave out Roy's addiction to heroin which is a major part of the character's history but maybe it wasn't necessary for the show.

    • @BlueBlazeKing
      @BlueBlazeKing 22 дні тому

They sorta of did the addiction but had the search for Speedy be an analogy for drugs

I have the impression that you had some problems with the undercover Aqualad plot built in the first 7 episodes and its final twist, in my opinion it is very well written, but in any case I'm sure that once you get past that you won't have any problems with the rest of this fantastic season

"You said you trust me." Me'gahn, Season1, Episode 2
Remember Lex Luthor contends with Superman on the regular and is most times out of jail. Manipulating a teenager who just woke out of an eight year coma? Kicking puppies would be harder for Lex.
