La'gann's use of the word 'chum' will always crack me up. Referring to viscera and blood that would be scrubbed off ship decks after fishing/whaling just makes for such a strange vernacular amongst some Atlanteans. Neptune's Beard is a close second. Mal Duncan is just a normal human, but he's trained with Black Canary and worked with The Team so he knows tech & strategy so he makes a good coordinator for the different squads. Plus he's built like a shipyard, and wants to stay close to Karen(Bumblebee). The blowing up of Mount Justice really hits hard with that future prophecy, and Kid Flash ripping into Nightwing about the danger Artemis could be in speaks volumes! She's a big girl though and knows how to protect herself. And she seems like she was hankering for some action again after the two of them retired to focus on their college studies.
So here's a fun fact, Tigress is Artemis' actual villain name in the comics (her real name is still Artemis Crock). She is not a hero in the comics, and honestly other than this show she's never actually been significant in any way. Also Jade (Cheshire) isn't related to her in the comics.
Your question about Sphere, whether she can tell Aqualad isnt on their side? She can tell that he IS on their side, through the deception that catches all the mortal heroes.
Since I know you watched the short film "DC Showcase: Green Arrow", DC has made also many other amazing short films that explore different characters that I hope you check out (and I hope they're not all patreon exclusive). The shorts they've made are: 1) Tales of the Black Freighter 2) DC Showcase: The Spectre 3) DC Showcase: Jonah Hex 4) DC Showcase: Green Arrow (you saw this already) 5) Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam 6) DC Showcase: Catwoman 7) DC Showcase: Sgt. Rock 8) DC Showcase: Death (one of my absolute favourites) 9) DC Showcase: The Phantom Stranger 10) DC Showcase: Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth! 11) DC Showcase: The Losers 12) DC Showcase: Adam Strange 13) DC Showcase: Blue Beetle 14) DC Showcase: Constantine - The House of Mystery.
This is why Kid Flash left; they lost Tula in the mission that led to Aqualad “defecting”, and now his best friend, Nightwing is playing both sides like pieces on a board…So, Wally saw the signs of how dangerous things were getting and didn’t want to be part of what Dick was becoming, what he’s asking of them. Note that in Season 1’s late Robin episode, Dick tells Wally he didn’t want him on the mission involving Halley’s Circus because he’s worried his best bud would question his judgment, to which Wally responded that’s what a best bud is MEANT to do. Which he’s definitely willing to do, even if he left “the life”, after it puts them at serious risk; especially as they don’t have a telepath like M’gann in the know on Kaldur’s mission, how can they possibly be sure that Kaldur either: a) had defected all along; or b) started as a double agent BEFORE becoming a triple agent to throw Nightwing off. Especially now that Artemis is undercover as “Tigress”; bit of trivia to the comics, Artemis Crock prior to this show was always depicted as a villain who inherited the name Tigress from her mother Paula Crock. Paula herself was originally a Caucasian just like Sportsmaster; they only had the one daughter. Jade Nguyen/Cheshire was, in the comics, the daughter of an unrelated Caucasian man and a Vietnamese woman, who were composited with the Crocks.
This whole epsiode was a wild tense ride! But here's the thing when this episode aired the show went on hiatus for months! and this is after coming back from a hiatus. You are blessed to have not have to deal with that
“Neptune’s Beard” is as hilarious as Thor saying “Odin’s Beard.” It’s such a weird thing to exclaim

"It is easier to destroy than to create"
Is such a based quote.
