Thanks so much for sharing this video. Thanks for all the great information and the tomatoes you grew. I will be growing a few of them next seasons. Happy gardening 😊
Loved this video. I also am tomato obsessed. Black from Tula is my favorite black with True Black Brandywine as a close second.I also grow Sungold every year. I would recommend Chocolate Cherry as opposed to Black Cherry. I prefer it. I loved Thornburn's Terracotta this year, my first year growing it. While the yield wasn't huge it was sufficient. I will be growing it again. I grew Chef's Choice Orange this year and was impressed. Now for recommendations: You need some green when ripe tomatoes. Try Green Zebra , Aunt Ruby's Bunte Pflaume and Berkley Tie Dye Green for slicers and Shimmer for the cherry! I hope you find merit in this post!
Thanks for the tomato review! This year I tried the Sun Sugar cherry tomato and found it as good (possibly slightly better) in taste than Sun Gold and it did not seem to crack as much. I tried some new slicer varieties, and my favorite was one called Tanager from the dwarf tomato project. This is a yellow-orange medium sized tomato that had really phenomenal complex flavor. I ordered a few other dwarf tomato project seeds, and the seller threw some tanger seeds in as a bonus and they beat everything else new this year that I tried. My other favorites include cherokee purple and pink brandywine.
I love growing tomatoes so much! My favorite is the Pineapple by far. The taste and size just impresses me so much. I love Barry’s Crazy too. I snack on them while I garden. Brad’s Atomic, love the taste but were a horrible producer. I’m planning on adding new ones next year. The one I’m most excited to grow is Gilbertie. Definitely planning to add Super Sweet as well. Not sure I’ve seen this topic but if you grow beans and eggplant, would enjoy your thoughts on those as well.
I’ve grown the pineapple tomato once, and I’m planning to try it again next year. I don’t grow eggplant, but I love fortex and rattlesnake beans. I’ll be making a must-grow variety video leading up to seed starting season!
Thanks for the video! Good detailed reviews. We had a great tomato year. Our best varieties were hybrids Big Beef Plus, Brandy Boy, Sun Orange, and Pozzano (a paste tomato). Supersauce is another good paste tomato that yields well. I tried Cherokee Carbon this year and the flavor was good but I wasn't a fan of the slightly mealy texture. I will try it again to see if it does better. My favorite heirlooms were Paul Roberson, Black Krim, and Hawaiian Pineapple. Lastly, I tried some dwarf project tomatoes for the first time and a few of them were wonderful. Boronia is my favorite and I will definitely grow it again. Uluru Ochre had a great flavor and I will grow it again but isn't a high yielder. If you haven't tried Brandy Boy or Big Brandy hybrids, they are really good!
Supersauce was on my radar as a potential to try next year - I’m glad to hear a good review of it! I think I did try Brandy Boy many years ago when I first started gardening, but I may have to give it another try now that I have a bit more experience. Thank you for the recommendations!
@@HomesteadOnAPrayer Some growing advice for Supersauce...it does best if you do not prune it. I put it in a tomato cage, did no pruning, and it yielded much better than previous years when I pruned it like an indeterminant. It is really more like a semi-determinant. Another local gardener told me this and it made a huge difference!

I’ve considered trying chocolate cherry too - I may give that one a try next year!

I love sun sugar too - I’ve never been able to fully decide which is better!
