    🙌WHO ARE WE
Soletrail will be a very exciting website that we are hoping to go live soon. The platform will have trail info, gear reviews, group hikes, information videos, SoleTrail branding clothing, and much more. Stay tuned.
    🥇Our Social Responsibility
Part of Soletrails initiative to promote mental health awareness. When we can safely start scheduling our hikes again we will be striving forward and continue our campaign to highlight Mother Natures' amazing powers at healing the mind.
The War of Independence began with the shooting dead of two Royal Irish Constabulary policemen at Soloheadbeg, Co Tipperary, on January 21st, 1919.
Constables James McDonnell and Patrick O’Connell were escorting a consignment of gelignite to Soloheadbeg quarry outside Tipperary town when they were ambushed by eight men from the 3rd Tipperary Brigade.
The attack, which was not sanctioned by the Irish Volunteers leadership, resulted in general outrage and made the ambushers the most wanted men in the country.
They were on the run for months after that until the youngest of their number, Seán Hogan, was arrested at a dance in Tipperary in May and later rescued from a train at Knocklong Station after a shootout.
The woman who sheltered Dan Breen and Seán Treacy, the two most famous ambushers, after Soloheadbeg was eventually awarded a military pension.
Marian Tobin from Lansdowne Park in Limerick cited written testimonials from both Breen and his commanding officer Séamus Robinson in her application for a military pension.
In a letter written in 1950, Breen wrote in praise of Mrs Tobin, saying it was she who sheltered him and the others involved in the ambush for several days “while the area was very hot”.
Breen praised Tobin and described her as “one of the best workers we had from 1917 to 1923. There are few woman and not many men who gave more help than Mrs Tobin”.

Great video again Martin. I may get out hiking myself, my fitness is at an all time low and there is now way I would manage the climbs you were doing. I will definitely add this one to the list though it looks class. I don't know how long your stone will stay on top of that cross with the wind up there. I have your tent review saved to watch later, looking forward to that one. All the best, mind yourself 👍

Really shows how weather changes on the mountain. Hope your out hitting the trails again. I still have the slieve bloom way in my head after watching your video. Stay safe man. Martin 🙌

Beautiful drone shots of Lough Curra Martin - really nice! Your footage was crystal clear throughout 👍Looked like a fast pace you were setting, I'd be gasping for air behind or at least having to stop and have a chat with the sheep! The cold air and bright light are such a nice combination...gets me excited to get out to the hills ASAP 🙂Not too sure there was much tea drinking going on in that cave!! 🤔

Hi Miriam, thank you very much. Yeo I was delighted with the drone. Zero wind so happy days. We hammered the last part as we were against the sunset. Don't know why, we had head torches. Anyways it's was an epic hike. Love that loop.. as always, thanks for the support. 😁

I remember as a child (70s) my Father taking us up the Galtees from the South side...we went to a lake for some fishing...we found a cave but it wasnt that one....this one had a wide low entrance with overhanging rock......we went in a little way....there were sheep skulls and bones. My Father said we couldnt go further in as we had no lamp or rope. Ive never been back since but l do think its between Temple Hill and Galteemore.
