I come running to the shelter of the hangin' tree
Down by where the creek runs dry
How many boys have hung above me
Leaving how many girls alone to cry
    Alone, alone, alone to cry
This cruel wind brings in one last storm
I need the shelter of the hangin' tree
Branches block drops of mornin' water claims of love are made
    Flash flood, eternal love
    Flash flood, eternal flood
Runnin', runnin', runnin' past that hangin' tree
I come runnin' to the shelter of the hangin' tree
Down by where the creek runs wild
    Drenched by bad bad love
Gonna hang myself out to dry
Hang myself, hang myself, gonna hang myself out to dry
Out to dry, hang 'em high
    Part the red sea
Part it and let me through

Pearl Jam was grasping at the excrement of a long dead scene...so they made flannel shirts cool for nerds but it was after we all were over it. There's a 3 hour time issue if you're traveling, but music took a decade to get from one coast to the other back then. This was the real deal.

    • @garypazz4234
      @garypazz4234 4 роки тому +1

No one outside of Seattle would have ever listened to this band or the majority of the other crap bands that came out of Seattle if it wasn't for Nirvana, AIC, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. And flannel shirts were around long before unshowered Seattle teens decided to start wearing them in the summer. U-Men, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Tad...all trash music. I like Green River but they aren't anywhere near as good as what Stone and Jeff did in Pearl Jam. Hell, it's not even s good as BRAD. And if Pearl Jam was grasping what was Nirvana doing? What was AIC and Soundgarden doing?

No. Rest of the country only knew about AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and fucking Nirvana. There was a whole thing happening here that had nothing to do with them and it was far from hard rock. We never came up with the term grunge and most of us in Seattle who were part of it won't use the word. Grunge was a word MTV used or in an advertisement for Sears selling $60 flannel shirts, stocking caps and ripped up jeans.

to say that you dont like Pearl Jam is one thing. Saying a band is overrated is a valid opinion as well. But, to say pearl jam sucks makes no sense. You could hate their music, but saying it sucks implies that its either irrelevnt, easily duplicated, un-influential, and lacking of any talent. Pearl Jam is none of thise things. Im not a big fan, I im smart enough to know the difference between sucking, and not liking something.

Even though Pearl Jam is an amazing band. Going mainstream don´t make you bad. For sure you got the chance to live in Seattle in that particular time, but some of us have the chance to discover this music through other bands like PJ, AIC, SG and Nirvana. Yes they go mainstream and you lost your precious pure scene and for sure you are so advanced that when PJ go out you already... o let me know in what underground avant garde movement where you at the time?

there may be good music now... but its not like the mainstream would ever find it for you. i dont think there will ever be another scene quite like this one where bands in one city just jammed for fun and found this groove to where they all sounded different but had the same feel. I mean now we have emo and hardcore as the "underground" but no one knows where it came from and theres no sense of brother hood.... and they suck...
