Agreed and I can see the cargo companies purchasing more from the used market as the demand for cargo transport increases. Both for additions to the fleet as well as for parts. Long live the Queen!
I live 20 miles north of Anchorage and see 747s all the time on clear days. The ones heading to eastern US pass just south of here a few miles up. They have a different sound than the twins. I worked assembling the old JT-9 engines that powered 747s back in the late 1970s.
We flew on Lufthansa’s 747-8 last year on the SFO to FRA leg of our trip to Greece. I was so happy they brought back the 747 so my young kids dolls experience it. My 7 year old was in disbelief about how something so large and heavy could fly.
@@KarmaFlight We shall see. I don't think KE really knows what it's going to with it's fleet in general with the pending merger. They really don't have that many widebody aircraft on order other than 30 787s. Their fleet has always been all over the place with too many types for their size.
This is one reason I like working for a cargo airline that operates 747s. I should get a few chances to fly on them this year. Hands down my favorite airliner to ride on.
The 747SP, flown by Las Vegas Sands, mentioned, was unfortunately scrapped due to hurricane damage to the hanger, and in turn, the aircraft (the hurricane blew open the hanger doors and the 2 jets inside the hanger spun around like tops, colliding with one another and onto the hanger structure).
Good news! There are actually two active -300's. HZ-HM1A and EW-465TQ flying cargo for the belarusian airline Transexport. The 32 year old Aircraft can sometimes be seen on Flightradar 24 flying between China and Minsk.
I just flew on a Lufthansa 747-8 in November, and it was a wonderful experience as usual. I hope to experience that aircraft with Korean Air and Air China before they're removed from their fleets.
I was rather disappointed by the 8 on LH. Way outdated business cabin and felt like stepping back in time in not a good way on a $6000 ticket. But it it was nice to add to the list of aircraft types.
Always great videos, was recently in SIN, and was surprised to see Lufthansa 747 pull up to the gate. Hoping to fly on her sometime this year, last time flew on a 747 was on EVA from YVR-TPE. Have since been replaced by a 777, not the same comfort level as the 747. Worked on a 747 back in the 90's, old Wardair aircraft, being used by Nationair, C-FFUN. Great aircraft to work....miss those days.
I hope so. Btw in the case of classic variants, my research reveals at least 29 Boeing 747 classics are still in service and what's that ? 1 Boeing 747-100 (Iran Air Force EP-CQB) 5 Boeing 747SP 20 Boeing 747-200 and 4 Boeing 747-300
Hi from Singapore. Every day, there will be one 747 800 flight between frankfurt and Singapore operated by lufthansa. Departs Frankfurt at 0455 Singapore time and reach Singapore at 1700 Singapore time. Departs Singapore at 2355 Singapore time and reach frankfurt at 1300 Singapore time
I'll be flying home on one of Lufthansa's 747-400's from Seoul Incheon to Frankfurt in April. Am I more excited about flying on the 747-400 for the first time than I am about going to Seoul? If I said no... I'd be lying!
In fact I have already flown on a 747 this year and I doubt it will have been the last time. Last week I took a Lufthansa 747-8i from Miami to Frankfurt
Not this year unfortunately. However, I do have hopes to fly on Lufthansa’s 747 next time I’m flying back home after visiting the USA. NYC-FRA-SIN-CHC. If I can swing it right, this itinerary would be on 2 747s & a Singapore A350 for the last leg. Although, this will not be happening for quite a while.
You guys left out the former 747SP SOFIA, but I guess she’s no longer “flying” in 2023 sadly! 😢Also yes!! I will be taking Lufthansa on their 747-400 and 747-8 this winter and I’ll be upstairs!! Yay 😁
A coincidence to find this just after speciallt booking a 747 flight with Lufthansa , Singapore to Frankfurt. They use the -8 on this route. Now to find a 747-400 flight.
Why are you not including , the South Korean and the China’s 747-8 BBJ , they are still flying , the South Korean one is actually «brand new » (retrofitted)
The 747-8 should have been launched around 2000. You had the advantage around this time before the A380 and twin jet era. Many airlines were replacing early 747s built prior to 1990 around or slightly before the year 2000.
Wouldn't have really changed the outcome for the passenger version. Airlines were already well into to switching to twins and the 777-300ER was starting to take off in sales. Boeing always knew it wasn't going to be a big passenger seller and made a LOT more money off the 777-300ER
Despite the passenger variants retiring, the cargo operators will still fly them for decades.
Agreed and I can see the cargo companies purchasing more from the used market as the demand for cargo transport increases. Both for additions to the fleet as well as for parts. Long live the Queen!
True

We have 56, at last count, here at Atlas. I hope that we pick a few -8i's for our passenger charter service.
There aren't really any to be picked up until KE, LH or China decides to retire those.
@@johniii8147 Many of the KE -8s have been sitting in storage at ICN. We will see if they put them all back into service. 👍

I have always wanted to fly on a 747. I never had the chance. I hope to one day.
great video!
I flew on Klm 747's in 2005 from AMS to PVG when I worked in China

In India also in recent months with fully white plane

@@johniii8147 I agree with the outdated LH business class, but flying that aircraft on the upper deck, I'll still be happy if it was economy class.
Next week with the Lufthansa B747-400 to New York (JFK)😎😍

I once saw on flightradar24 that a 747SP was flying from Pago Pago in American Samoa to Guam i think it was a cargo flight.
I have flown on the 747-100, 200 and 400. Would love to fly on the 747-8.
I’ve got to fly on a few 747’s… Aerolineas Argentinas, Pan Am, Tower Air, British Airways. What a majestic airplane!

korean air has the last passenger variant. I flew on one of them last month on my way back from korea.

I flew on a Lufthansa 747-400 back in January to Dubai.
Will fly on the 747-8 to and from San Francisco this fall.
I think I am going to book a flight with LH just to fly the Queen for the last time before LH retires the 400
Hopefully they don't do an equipment swap on you before the flight
I doubt I'll ever get to fly on a 747 at this stage. I'm scheduled to fly on a 737 the week after next.

They forgot one. Ed force one!
I have been on an Air Canada 747 200 combi Lufthansa 400 and 800 series
LH has 19
you forgot the 747-300 from Mahan Air.
The Korean Government changed its 747-400 to a 747-8 from Korean Air last year
The las vegas 747 sp has been damaged during maintenance

A new one! Yay!🎉
Absolutely none no one flues b747 in commercial service apart from cargo flights
Lufthansa likes to disagree with you
Lufthansa, Korean Air, Asiana and Air China still fly passenger 747s sunshine.
There’s actually a good video on what passenger and cargo 747s are still in service. If only I could find it…/s
We still have 4 airlines flying them. Not to mention Lufthansa still uses the -400. I think you missed this entire video….. 😮😂
Not this year, but I do have plans to fly to Germany on the 747 next year.
