I volunteer at a shelter that has taken in over 100 of these dogs. The response from the community has been absolutely heartwarming. Over 800 applications for them and the food and supply donations would over flow a shipping container. It's an amazing feeling when a dog who is terrified to come out of their kennel finally decides to and when they get outside to a play yard watching them just come alive again, feel freedom to run, freedom to sniff all the new smells of the outside world, watching a dog whose tail has been tucked firmly between its legs let the tail out to start to wag as they run and play romping around in an amount of space they've never experienced in their life. Volunteering at the shelter has always been an incredibly rewarding experience but I can't even describe the feeling you get when you see a dog who's lived in a cage for 5 years get outside and get to actually be a dog for the first time in their life.
Some must be so under socialized.💔 Scared to death.☹️ It may be better to adopt in pairs. Although that would make adoption difficult for some families. @@joshuadowdle9691 I promised my first dog, Leia, that after she passed I would adopt/rescue my next pet. She was a breeder puppy. Never again the heartbreak of putting her to sleep after 7 months ( she has to be put to sleep due to illness ) tore me. Now, I have a rescue cat and in some way, I feel Leia came back to me.
I agree. Every single person involved in their abuse should be behind bars. I'm so sick of big companies getting away with the most heinous crimes. It's infuriating.
Actually the people who have abused these poor animals deserve to be put in cages. for years at a time, experimented on in the most cruel manner, have their vocal cords cut, and be left in their own waste. Still that would not be enough. Cruelty can never be justified!
This story shows the cruelty and kindness of humans. This woman is a superhero. It's an honor to donate to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue to help them complete the monumental task of caring for these Beagles. I grew up with a Beagle. They're wonderful pets. He was my best friend.
I pray ( literally) that People use their heads instead of their hearts when considering adoption of these dogs. This is a lifetime commitment: financially physically, mentally, emotionally, and of your time. To bring home one of these dogs, and then “change your mind” 30 or 90 days later, for WHATEVER reason, is selfish and a clear indicator you did not think this through, consider the dog, and made an emotion- driven decision. Hoping for a great outcome and home for each of these dogs. What a sad life they have had thus far. It must get better. Thanks to All the rescues! What a daunting, amazing rescue. Most of these dogs will need experienced handlers that know what they are could be getting into.
It's not necessarily experienced handlers that they need, they are very docile dogs. What they need is adopters with the patience of a saint who will allow them all the time they need to acclimate to just being a dog. People who realize that these dogs are going to be a bit fearful of new things as they've lived their lives in a cage. But you're 100% right about not making an emotional decision in wanting to help without the consideration of the commitment of being a dog parent, especially for these particular dogs. I'm so glad my shelter has 2 very good behaviorists who are basically hand picking the people who get to adopt these pups out of the hundreds of applications we got. We've found homes for the initial 100 we got and none have been brought back because of the dedication of the behaviorists in finding the right people for these pups who do have some special needs. We've got about 75 more coming in the next few days.
@@slimpickens01 YOUR attitude is what created this problem - these are NOT THINGS to profit from. Instead of thinking "what can this dog do for me", adopters will think "how can I meet the needs of this dog?". Luckily the adopters will not be from SLIM PICKENS but from an ABUNDANCE of responsible, compassionate, mature human beings.
@@mcrachelgrace9568 hey Karen I'm a responsible adult. These pups will be properly trained to hunt rabbit, wild boar, and wild turkeys. Please spare me your ignorance.
Beagles are notorious for barking all day and night. You have no idea what you are talking about. They are some of the worst dogs you could ever have, or should I say your neighbors could ever live near. What you saw in this video is how they behave 24/7. These dogs need to be euthanized.
This is so hard to watch. I had to put my 13 year old beagle to sleep about 3 months ago and I'm not emotionally ready for another one yet. This is a beautiful breed, friendly, fun, but very food driven. Anyone who adopts one will have a wonderful, loving pet...
So sad about your beagle. But you are smart to wait until you are emotionally ready again. I can't understand how some people just jump right out and get another dog right away. Something very wrong with that.
It took a while for my rescue beagle to acclimate to a living in a home. Vinny was a show quality beagle who was most likely used in a breeding situation. We had him for 15 years. He had a medical problem that required medication and blood work checks. He was really quite wild when we brought him home. It took love and patience. We miss him so much now that he is gone. If I were younger, I would love to have any rescue beagle. Bless all who are helping all the poor animals who cannot rescue themselves.
I just lost my beautiful beagle Lucy Cooper. She would have been 12 in August. She had kidney disease. She was the sweetest dog. I miss her terribly. I hope you find homes for everyone of those little beagles. They are great living companions
I'm sorry, to hear, about Lucy Cooper 😢. I'm sending a warm hug, from me & my two beagle boys, Charlie & Linus! I know how you are feeling right now. 4 years ago, I had to return my beagle, Shiloh, to Heaven. She was 11 also. She had cancer, & the sweet little thing didn't want me to be sad, so she didn't show any signs until I only had two weeks to accept it. She was my best friend, as Lucy Cooper was for you! If Lucy Cooper liked to snuggle, then she's got a great "snuggle buddy", because that was Shiloh's favorite thing to do! I wish there was something, I could say or do, to take away the pain you're feeling, but I still struggle with missing Shiloh. The only thing, I would say helps, is remembering how happy she made you, how she'd make you laugh by doing something silly, or how she'd make a "not so good day" go away with just a rub of her ears!

Hallelujah! Been part of the groups shutting these labs down. This is just the beginning. It’s happening is labs everywhere. Please be a part of the change and support products that aren’t tested on animals.🥰
I worry that laws that protect property would allow cruel humans to test their garbage on these kinds of dogs. A lot of people tell the cops to come back with a warrant. These beagle's release is a 4,000 dog step in the right direction.
We have our Molly that we adopted in April that came from that place. It has been an honor and a joy watching her blossom and learn the joys of what family life is!! She is 5 and was house trained (potty outside only) within 30 days. Adopt one of these precious Dogs if you can!!!
I hope that all of these sweet little angels get adopted into loving homes as soon as possible💖. Knowing all that those poor little babies were tortured breaks my heart... dogs have such pure innocent souls.. All animal testing should be illegal, the way these poor babies suffered and were tortured is absolutely appalling and inexcusable. I hope every person involved in their abuse goes to jail.
When you watch the very beginning of this video and see all of those beagles just jumping and carrying on and acting crazy and wagging their tails, they are just so so smart that they knew, they knew people were coming to rescue them and get them out of that place! If you look and watch them all wag their tails at the very beginning while they're still in their cages they're excited, they're overwhelmed with so much joy and wagging their tails at the same time and barking! Think about that? Those precious fur babies knew something good was going to happen for them that's why they were overwhelmed with so much joy and excitement and carrying on and jumping and wagging their tails and barking they are that smart, they knew they were going to be rescued and taken out of that place. ❤️❤️🥺🥺🙏🐾🐾😥 I am just so happy so glad that finally that place is finally shut down for good and no more suffering for those fur babies that they get to live a life of happiness joy, and have play toys and interact with each other and interact with other dogs as well and get to walk on grass for the very first time and finally see the light of day in the sunshine and finally get a breath of fresh air. Thank God there is a God who does exist who encourages people with sincere hearts to go rescue those precious babies. 😥🙏❤️❤️🥺 I have been following the Humane Society of the United States and the Beagle Freedom project and the Virginia coalition of protection for beagles organizations as well on Facebook. I have been following these organizations because I am an animal advocate and my heart goes out to those precious beagles and thank God they're finally rescued.I found out that those 4,000 went to shelters and the staff people in shelters must understand that most of them or all of them may have PTSD and they need to know how to handle that and not hurt them not get angry with them. They must have lots and lots of patients with those dogs because of where they came from. And the Beagle Freedom project from my understanding in a video they posted on their Facebook web page is they were going to send out flyers and pamphlets and brochures to the shelters that these animals go to to expect PTSD and or peculiar behavior because of where they came from and that they need to have a lot of patience and just give them love and happiness and understanding. 🥺🙏❤️ The Beagle Freedom project was hoping to take most of them or all of them but it didn't work out that way. The reason being is because they are professionals and they have done this many many times before in the past that they know how to rehabilitate, Foster and give them precious babies a good good life before they put up for adoption to a loving family. Instead according to what they said on their website, they ended up going to shelters which is not really good if you think about it, because the people who runs the shelters needs to know about their behaviors that it's possible all 4,000 beagles may have PTSD because of where they came from. And they need to know also that it requires a lot of love, and attention and compassion with a sincere heart and a lot a lot of patience with them. I hope the people who runs the shelters understand that. ☹️🙏❤️
God bless the people doing the work to save these animals. If I win mega millions, my goal will be to expand shelters and help animals and those organizations.
Be ready and go into it with open eyes. These dogs have not had "normal" lives, interaction with people. They haven't been picked up, petted, trained, been talked to or played with. It takes patience. I pray all who are adopted stay with their families and none get returned. It DOES happen.
The shelter I volunteer at has taken in over 100 of these dogs. People don't just get to adopt them, they have to meet with and be approved by one of our behaviorists. These dogs are being placed in situations where they will have the ability to thrive with owners who know exactly what type of dog they are getting. If they have to come back we'll gladly take them back and try again but so far all we are getting back is heartwarming reports of how well they are doing now that they're just family pets. You are right about the patience part though, I've personally spent several hours trying to convince some of the older dogs I'm no threat and it's safe to come out of the kennel. It's all worth it when you get them outside and they get to romp around a play yard and just be a dog for the first time in their life.
These dogs are used to being handled but it is a huge responsibility it’s nothing like adopting a normal dog it’s very hard work, usually in this line of work you try not to engage with the animals to avoid creating a bond but in the labs they get a few hours of playtime and socializing. And as long as the drugs used represent no harm they will be put up for adoption.
@@Beaglemom510 These ones haven’t even gotten handled at a lab yet. They are straight from Envigo, so unfortunately they have had 0 handling and aren’t even used to being picked up. Honestly would have been better if they at least had any lab acclimation.
I adopted 6 children in over 25 years. All were unique and stretch my limits, but not once did I ever contemplate " returning" them. I couldn't imagine returning an animal that I knew was "broken" either. Patience, patience, patience. Let the pup bloom at his or her speed. Spoli them, pamper them and reassure them 28 hours a day..yes, I know there are only 24, but any one of these dogs need more care and love that can be packed into 24 hours!
@@clairewyndham1971 That's a nice thought but pets aren't children. Say you adopted one of these dogs and your cat constantly terrorized it. Maybe not your cat, maybe the dog has a fear of a human member of your family that despite your best efforts can't be overcome. Would it be fair to make the dog live under those conditions? The answer is no, the dog would be better off living with someone else who didn't have it living in fear. That's why we would let the animal come back to us to find it a better home where it could thrive instead of living in conditions where it was constantly afraid.
This is heart breaking. It is wrenching to know what has been done to these poor souls. As a Beagle parent, I can attest to how loyal, noble, loving & unique they are. Having a Beagle as a companion is like having a child & they feel your heart with joy.
I am a beagle person. I have had several over the years. I would absolutely love to adopt one. We will see if any come to Washington state. Just breaks my heart. My current beagle was an abuse rescue. My heart goes out to all the beagles & the facilities that adopt them out.
@Chris lol you do know that there were and still are slaves owners who are not white right? Get educated bud, read and learn about slavery, it's not only in the U.S and the ones you heard from history books in school. If you read the Bible as you try to quote from it, you should know better too.
Dr Fauci was the one who was jn charge of this.. he specifically chose the beagles because they are the only dogs no matter how hard u beat them and torture they still want to do anything for your love …

We hear about cruelty in so many other countries and leap to action---I hope this opens our eyes to how much animal cruelty is going on right under our noses every day in the States, too. We're no different, it's in our own backyard.
Wow. Blessings to all! Seeing all the ears flopping as they jump up and down with joy in the video as the camera enters their shelter says it all! 💜💜💜 Thank you for all you are doing for these sweet little ceeatures.
Those innocent sweethearts deserve nothing but the best, especially after after having to live their lives dictated by monsters. Anyone who experiments on animals is a devil imho. What makes them even more evil is that beagles are chosen for these vile deeds because of their docile nature. I hope they all find a forever home and experience nothing but pure love instead of fear.
I have watched this dispicable abuse on animals on-line. I have NO sympathy for anyone who can torture another living being. I don't know how these "people" live with themselves. I hope all these beautiful dogs find loving Forever homes and live their best lives the rest of their lives !!! They never deserved such abuse.
I feel the exact same way. I don't know how some people can live with themselves torturing another living being. It really angers me to know that this isn't the first time this company has been caught abusing animals either. Yet, here thay are ,again, still in "buisness".. ALL "animals testing" should be illegal. It's abuse and torture. I hope all these sweet babies get to live the life they deserve, in a loving home. Where they belong.💖😔
Everyone wanting to adopt one of these precious beagles, please learn about the breed. Beagles are scent hounds. They can be very vocal . Learn everything you can, so you won't be surprised. I've adopted 5 beagles over the years. One beagle was 12 years old . Our newest one is 7 years old. Beagles love walks, food, being with you, food, and more food. So you have to feed them very carefully
Former beagle owner here, and you are absolutely correct about beagles. Mine lived a good long life and was treated like a queen, but you can not take the scent hound out of them. She was like a Houdini and could be a master escape artist if something caught her scent. lol..... She was never a hunting dog or around hunting dogs, yet she did the classic hunting vocalizations as soon as she was out and on the "trail of something"..........hunting was an instinct she didn't have to learn. RIP my little Chloe.......always led by the nose....lol.
Ugh! This is all too common with beagles. How do these companies get away with this time and time again?! I agree, the humans should be locked up twice the amount of time. As a longtime beagle parent it breaks my heart when I hear of these stories.
I hope all that are not able to adopt THESE particular dogs, go to shelters & adopt ANOTHER dog that didn't make headlines instead. I'm glad that these guys/gals will FINALLY have some semblance of a life. I hope new owners realize how traumatized these dogs may be and the effort & dedication it may take to make them good pets in FOREVER homes! 1 lab down & too many to go.😞 These guys/gals don't know it but they hit the lottery!👍💓 💖 🤘
I agree. We should just care about the shelter/rescue dogs that we are shown in the media. We should care about all of them and should find out which we can give the best life to when choosing them. Some dogs have had bad lives, others haven't. Some dogs may have physical issues or mental problems while others may be the healthiest and well behaved dog. But in the end they all just want to enjoy life and have a good home.
@@sillyface6950 Agreed 💯%! Although be prepared. There may be quite a few hoops to go through for an adoption. We lost our last dog Rocky end of April. It's been awful. So after so time I started to look on Petfinder type sites for rescues & shelters. The forms took hours to fill out & maybe if we're lucky 🍀 got a response, telling us the dog we wanted had been adopted. But thanks for your interest.😞 Of course the dog we wanted became unavailable because I think I asked too many questions (aggressive tendencies to strangers).😞. Sometimes I feel like they need a DNA sample. I will NOT buy a dog & will adopt/rescue, but why must they make it so hard to do the right thing?!💔. That's why people get disgusted & go out & buy a dog.😭😞💔🤘 💖 🤘
@@WASPwarrior1982 I'm okay with people who buy dogs cos I know that not everyone can adopt. Like a friend of mine who wanted a dog but had no other choice except to buy one after being told they couldn't get a rescue. The reason for them not being able to get a rescue was litteraly just that they didn't have a garden, which I think is pretty ridiculous as there is hundreds of dogs in apartments or flats or other non-garden buildings that get to live great lives.
@@WASPwarrior1982 Yes, this. I know a few people that it took a long time to get "approved", but in one case, we know it was best. The dog they finally got is perfect in their family. They mesh so well. One I know got denied because her boyfriend (together 10+ years) and her lived together and were not married. Some take it a little too far!
If I had the money I would get a farm and literally love to take care of these dogs I love dogs so much they’re awesome and seeing this kind of thing breaks my heart because dogs are amazing
I hope they are screening to find homes who won’t surrender them when they decide the cost and commitment is too much. There will be a lot of impulse adoptions, so I pray that it works out for each and every one of these precious dogs. God bless the shelters and everyone who is helping out in one way or another. ♥️
I can't speak for every shelter that is helping out but I can tell you the shelter I volunteer at is being very selective with who can adopt these dogs. Anyone who has filled out an adopting application has to meet with one of our behaviorists to see if they are an appropriate dog parent for these pups and understand that they will need to take lots of time and have lots of patience to help these dogs adapt to life outside of a breeding facility. We will gladly take an animal back if it isn't working out but they are putting a lot of effort into putting these dogs into homes where they will have the ability to thrive.
I want to be able to get my hands on any/all of the people who were complicit in this!!!!!! For a hug of course, a very tight, atypical hug. I want to show them so much compassion and mercy that I'll just hug until they aren't...really wanting to hug anymore.
It’s probably unlikely that they are all perfectly healthy, but seeing how people can be so cruel towards an animal is so heartbreaking and fills my heart rage, I wish I could do the exact same thing every one of those people did to hurt and “test” on those dogs, to them.
They're still shipping dogs to rescues today so they haven't found homes for them 'within two weeks'. It's a massive endeavour. We just fostered one of the beagles this weekend and the SPCA is only putting them up for foster currently as none have been neutered (this facility only got in male dogs) as of their rescue/pickup late last week. They still had 10 left when we were there on Saturday and are likely getting more in, including pregnant females. Our foster is a year old and had never been on grass. He has poor muscle tone from lack of exercise. Doesn't know how to run, eat from a bowl, sleep lying down.... it's horrifying to imagine what he's had to endure. But we will do our part to help this little guy as will thousands of other families helping the other beagles. I hope all those involved are prosecuted.
Everyone just be aware that Beagles are wonderful pets for *some* people. Beagles have very specific needs and rules. They can never be let off the leash in public because of their nose and wanderlust. They are escape artists and will dig out of yards if left alone for any amount of time. They are VERY difficult to train. They have VERY loud baying which makes them terrible apartment dogs. And they are very high energy under 6 years old and very low energy later in life. They love to burrow and have a tendency to bury themselves under blankets and clothes at night. They hate the cold. They don't like water for the most part. Owning multiple beagles is actually easier than owning a single beagle because they hate to be alone due to their pack instinct. So be very careful about seeing this video and wanting to be a savior. You won't do them any favors if you aren't experienced at owning a beagle or even a hound breed. They are cute, friendly, and loving but a massive pain in the ass if you don't expect certain behaviors.
Thank you for taking the time to put this post together 🙏. Hopefully you saved a lot of beagles and shelters and rescues the issue of dealing with turn-ins or worse 😢😢. Maybe some farms can take some of these poor dogs in ? I am betting they are going to not be great pets when they come out of those cages … what a mess 😭
This is so true. Beagles are adorable but can be such a handful. My sister's Beagle is now 14.5 years old and we got him at 6 weeks (first mistake right there 😂) He has retained so many puppy-like qualities his entire life. Though he knows the basic obedience commands, he can be stubborn and he is very strong for his size. We can't let him off leash outdoors. We have to watch him closely indoors or he'll get into things he shouldn't. He barks and bays a lot and he is LOUD. He's a fantastic dog with a great and fun personality but Beagles are definitely *not* for everyone.
We adopted a rescue beagle (never socialized) and we foster beagles until they find there forever home..I wish I could take all of them. I worked with primates and we had primates that came from a lab, they were all given diabetes, so they could be tested on..We would take great care of them, making sugarless cookies, and such, we loved them. I wish all animal testing would stop..it's so wrong and then the labs close down, these animals have no where to go. I want to try to help.
God bless those lovely wonderful people saving these poor little guys..... I’d love to give one a home. Unfortunately, even the ones who died are probably luckier than the ones who end up in the hands of scientist sadists.
My super-awesome beagle (from the Humane Society) overcame a lot of fear and distrust (bc of mistreatment and harassment by unsupervised young children) and she was the best buddy ever. Miss you, Clarice! ❤️💔❤️ 🌈🐶🌈

"The fines only cover about half of the medical" what the *^$&%!!! They should be fined millions for animal neglect and cruelty. How can the ASPCA let them get away with this?
It is amazing what you have done for these dogs and puppies, there is a place over here in the UK called camp beagle, they are campaigning to get a company called mbr acres who breed beagles for vivisection but it is a struggle to get our government to listen any ideas on how these poor beagles can be freed
We should ALL write letters to the White House and also help the ASPCA and NEVER allow such BS like this right here in our own damn country!!! Come on!!!!

No, greed, that the company could not find an alternative. Dogs are cheap.

I want some. Beagles are worth 2500 on the market.

This is why it’s so important to make sure what you’re buying and supporting is cruelty free!!!
I’m living in virginia and I’m really looking into getting one! All Beagles deserve a loving home and a happy family.
Beagles are wonderful pets.
Beagles are notorious for barking all day and night. You have no idea what you are talking about. They are some of the worst dogs you could ever have, or should I say your neighbors could ever live near. What you saw in this video is how they behave 24/7. These dogs need to be euthanized.
The best
Yes, but they can also be extremely difficult to raise, even for someone with beagle raising experience.
They bark wayyyyy too much.
@@heyheytaytay A lot do but getting sprayed with a water hose will silence them, sometimes too much and they rarely bark again.
@@Cissy2cute Nothing is wrong with that. Everyone grieve and hurt differently.
Please consider another beagle. There is one out there for you 🐾❤️🐾I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry for your loss, all that love is eternal and will be with you forever ❤🐕⚘
That name is so cute!

Poor babies! I see our 11 yr old girl in every single one of their sweet faces😭💔 I hope they find good homes that’ll teach them what love feels like
My daughter already got one. She's a real sweetheart
We have our Molly that we adopted in April that came from that place. It has been an honor and a joy watching her blossom and learn the joys of what family life is!! She is 5 and was house trained (potty outside only) within 30 days. Adopt one of these precious Dogs if you can!!!
Bless you -- the World needs more kindhearted people like you. May you have years of love with Molly ❤️🙏
I have been following the Humane Society of the United States and the Beagle Freedom project and the Virginia coalition of protection for beagles organizations as well on Facebook. ☹️🙏❤️
Bless you for writing that. I love beagles. I had 2 of them and I loved them dearly.
Do you follow & support PETA, too? The footage of the caged beagles at the beginning of the story was filmed by PETA.
Thank you all involved, God bless you!!!
Thank God they got rescued. Beagles are amazing pets.

The animal on your plate (cow, pig, chicken) was a living being who was tortured and slaughtered for your meal.
Fauci was torturing beagles and yet half of America still supports him even though he's a slimy crook.
Dogs are such sensitive and intelligent beings.

@@WASPwarrior1982 I'm okay with people who buy dogs cos I know that not everyone can adopt. Like a friend of mine who wanted a dog but had no other choice except to buy one after being told they couldn't get a rescue.

Beagles are the best as pets and better as hunting dogs to go after rabbits, ducks, wild boar, deer, and squirrels.
