Love your videos, I have been a skier for over 30 years. Heading to Vail in January and decided this would be the year I would take up Snowboarding. I live in NYC and starting watching your videos, went to Big Snow in New Jersey and worked on the basics that you taught Chris, day 2 I took a private lesson at Big Snow which was amazing, and by day 3 I was killing it and hooked. I will never Ski again, I love Snowboarding and wished I would have taken it up years ago. So excited for Vail in a few weeks. Your videos have been way more helpful than others on here. My first time going snowboarding was last Saturday the 27th of November and the first place my friend took me was to the lift for the intermediate slopes. To say the least, I was not ready for those. I can't blame him for there were no beginners slopes open at the time at Hunter Mountain, but I did get off the lift successfullyish, because I fell after I glided away from the area. From there I was just standing up snowboarding a bit and on the floor. I couldn't finish the whole slope, I got there about halfway there. I was drained and tired, but I can't wait for next week. I leased my equipment and if I end up improving and still like it this season, I'll buy my equipment at the end of this one. I was also sore afterwards and the next day.

I've only snowboarded maybe like... 3 times in my life? Something like that? But what I find interesting is that toe stopping was actually much easier for me than heel stopping, and I realized just now that it's probably because I play drums. When you hit the bass drum, you lift your foot up and down while maintaining pressure on the pedal. This requires you to use those muscles right along your shin, and is why it hurts so dang bad if you play a song with a lot of double kick😂. Having thoroughly put those muscles through a beating for 6 or 7 years, toe stopping seemed reminiscent of playing drums in that aspect which is why I think it was easier for me. I'm going to snowboard tomorrow, I'm super excited! I'll be able to test wether or not this "bass drum kick pedal" theory is true and update this comment. Who knows, maybe playing drums could be a great way of building those muscles and practicing toe stops!

Never snowboarded before. I wanna definitely go now. Mentally I think I'm prepared for it, except for getting off the lift. That looks terrifying lol

Everyone has their own teaching style, try to practice turning with 1 foot before 2, it gets them more comfortable with weight on the front foot and getting off the lift🤘🏻

"Raw, natural, athletic ability." Made me LOL but if he got all this done in a single day, maybe he does have it.
I would still teach him how to fall to prevent injury.
