As for the bears, I can understand the disappointment! That's our kind of luck! The salmon were pretty cool too! Staying tuned for the next installment!
It's so amazing to see how much Exit Glacier has receded since 2004 when we were there. It was in the 80's and we were in shorts. I took my shoes off and walked across two of the streams and was gonna go further but the water was soooo cold it just hurt and burned terribly I couldn't go any further and ran back across as fast as I could across the two streams still hurting and burning cold. Never ever have I felt water so cold. I was a fairly flat area compared to were it's at now.
tarfoot incredible to see the changes over the years! And we didn’t get any days in the 80’s in Seward! I can only imagine how cold that water must have been! 😬

Great video. You guys certainly had better weather at Seward than we did. The trip in and out of Valdez is incredible. Going in we had fog and vis was really limited but as we came down into Valdez it lifted and the viewed were incredible. Kept waiting for Dino Saur to show up. Lol. The first dent in a new vehicle always hurts the most. That repair up here would run close to a grand. I have experience with those kinds of dents and the the ones where the tailgate drops onto the hitch. I priced getting mine fixed and then decided to leave it to remind me of when I do dumb s*#t. Just got home from elk camp and put our trailer to bed for the winter. It was a sad day today. 😢 Hopefully we don’t get snow early like last year.
Jd 338 glad the weather cleared for you in Valdez! It does feel like you landed in the Jurassic Park sometimes! Definitely hard to put up the trailer or boat when a season is over but it sounds like you guys made great use of it and that is all that matter! Thanks so much for watching and hope the snow holds off for you! 😃
The first ding is always the hardest. Always seems to happen though. Something came off a truck that passed me on the freeway and dinged my hood and scared us to death as it coasted over the windshield.
Amazing footage. I had a bear walk into the shop I work at two days ago. I was 13 feet from it and we had to leave the shop. Bears are very real up here lol. The whole time I was getting excited about my wife and I’s own soon to be adventures.
Love translating the elevation gain into flights of stairs, really adds to the visualization of the height although I have to assume that the actual distance hike was much longer than a "simple " climb up 150 flights of stairs. noproblem2big we had a bunch of salmon in the freezer still, left over from working that fishing boat😎 we might have got yelled at grabbing salmon from there as well😂
One of many trips down to Valdez we saw 19 bears from Valdez to Allison Point to the Hatchery. One sow was caught in an F& G culvert trap right behind my buddy’s motorhome. Silvers were in and the black bears were still feeding on the dead pink salmon. It smells terrible then, so much urea in the air.
@@akbychoice I can imagine the smell, as I've seen on a program all these big salmon will die once they have done their breeding cycle... seems a bit of waste but that's nature's way
noproblem2big the pinks have no place to go to spawn in Valdez. These are all Hatchery raised salmon for harvesting. The ones that don’t get harvested are either taken by the hatchery for their eggs and sperm, become food for bears or die and feed the eco-system. The smell is overwhelming to say the least.
